HP Chromebase A-I-O 22: With new Rotating Touch HD Display!

Share

Chromebooks have become increasingly popular for online study and jobs. Throughout the epidemic, record numbers of them were sold. In the second half of 2021, HP, one of the significant manufacturers of Chromebooks, reduced its attention to the type. It also developed Chromebook tablets and an AIO Chrome desktop, the HP Chromebase A-I-O 22.

The first AIO Chrome OS desktop with a portrait-to-landscape screen rotation is the Chromebase AIO. With just a little press on the corner, you may change modes. The screen’s content will automatically reorient itself for you to reflect the new direction. According to HP, this increases the Chromebase’s usability and versatility while scrolling through lengthy online pages. Or you are dealing with long documents.

Design

The 21.5-inch screen is big enough to tempt you to open numerous windows for side-by-side contrasts. Or just better multitasking, even if all you use is one window. You will have to start again every time You change the screen’s orientation from landscape to portrait or vice versa since the window configuration is gone.

This functions best in landscape mode. But you’ll need to reposition your active windows every time you convert to portrait mode and back. When the screen is in landscape position, the 16:9 aspect ratio is excellent. However, it looks unnaturally tall and lengthy in portrait mode.

On a cone-shaped base that also serves as a speaker, the HP Chromebase All-in-One 22 is placed. The cone has a diameter of only 6.7 inches, so it should fit in several locations in your house, such as on a desk, at the end of a table, or in your kitchen cabinet. It should also fit well with any contemporary home design because of its white body and grey, fabric-wrapped base. It resembles an intelligent speaker and an oversized iPad more than a PC.

Performance

The Chromebase AIO has plenty of ports, which are all neatly placed in a vertical column on the rear of the computer. Both the two USB-C ports and the two USB-A connectors, both of which have a 5Gbps speed rating, may be used to charge mobile devices. The 3.5mm headphone jack, which must be accessed by stretching around at the backside of the display, is the one inconvenience with this design.

Most Chrome bases are designed for business usage and have uninspiring designs suitable for an office or a store but not for a kitchen or a living area. On either hand, the HP Chromebase A-I-O 22 is a member of Google’s Nest Hub range of intelligent displays.

The Chromebase has Google Assistant built-in, much like a Chromebook, so you can use it similarly to a Nest Hub. However, it performs many more functions than a Nest Hub because it is powered by Chrome OS and has configuration options for an Intel Core i3-10110U CPU, up to 16GB of RAM, and up to 256GB SSD.

Display

In HP Chromebase A-I-O 22, the screen is a touch panel with a low maximum brightness rating of 250 nits and a native full HD 1,920 by 1,080-pixel resolution. The resolution is a little too thin on the 21.5-inch screen. The picture is rather clear, but it seems pixelated up close.

Regarding professional media editing, the resolution is less helpful but still enough for web surfing and watching 1080p movies. Positively,  HP is underestimating the screen backlight of the Chromebase. The display’s highest brightness during the tests has been almost twice as bright as its 250-nit rating. In the sunny workplace, there is enough light.

Price and Availability

The HP Chromebase costs $530 in the US. However, it has only 4GB of RAM and an inferior Intel Pentium Gold processor. Although it isn’t presently offered in Australia, the price in the UK is £600, which equals about AU$1,060. The setting should be suitable for fundamental activities like online browsing, easy productivity tasks, or streaming music or videos.

Although the maximum price for the setup could be $770, it frequently goes on sale for significantly less. But you should at least upgrade to the Core i3 model. Although it raises the cost to $660, it improves the device’s multitasking capabilities and allows for future memory and storage expansion.

Is the HP Chromebase 22 good for gaming?

Anecdotal testing revealed that the Chromebase was responsive for everyday tasks like playing games online, streaming full – HD video, and surfing the web over a dozen Chrome tabs. The 4GB of RAM & Pentium Gold CPU are sufficient for most home users to operate the lightweight Chrome OS without hiccups.

What is Chromebase?

An all-in-one touchscreen video conferencing system is Chromebase. The Chromebase is designed for tiny areas and offices with one or two users. It is an all-in-one 24-inch touchscreen display with a built-in, adjustable video camera, two speakers, and four microphones.

Is a Chromebase a PC?

All-in-one HP Chromebase PC. It’s inclined to feel that is a fair price given its adaptability, the fact that it can serve as a desktop computer for children or less tech-savvy individuals, and the fact that ChromeOS will make it endure a long time. Buy HP’s Chromebase AIO if there is even the slightest indication that you require it.

Conclusion

The HP Chromebase All-in-One 22 is a cost-effective and stylish Chrome OS desktop for home usage, even without the spinning display. It has sufficient power to operate the slim Chrome OS and perform light multitasking. Additionally, you don’t need to spend extra money to upgrade it past the Pentium-based setup if you’re purchasing it as a supplementary computer rather than your primary one for browsing the internet.
