In 2022, Motorola released the Motorola Edge 30, a new gadget that aims to be the most excellent mid-range phone with an ultra-slim design that prioritizes the display and offers a robust set of cameras. One of the tiniest 5G smartphones is Motorola’s Edge 30, with a thickness of under 7 millimetres. It might be challenging to decide which mid-range phone to buy because there are many possibilities. However, the following are all the pros and cons, the two sides of the lightweight design, the Waterproof rating, the camera specs it provides etc., which you should consider before purchasing this Mid-range phone. For the layout and design, the Motorola Edge 30 has power and volume control buttons on the phone’s right side. The phone’s bottom has a SIM card slot, a speaker, and a USB-C connector. Under the display is where the fingerprint sensor is positioned. It is a slim phone with a luxurious appearance, with a two-tone frosted back and a triple camera with a distinctive triangle design. An in-ear headset with a USB-C connector, a transparent case, a 33W TurboPower charger, and instructions are included in the box.
The thinnest and lightest phone is the Motorola Edge 30, which weighs 155g and is only 6.79mm thick. The Motorola Edge 30 sports a thin screen and little marketing, which elevates the phone. The volume and power keys are logically positioned, and the gently rounded frame fits nicely in hand. It is simple to access the fingerprint sensor underneath the display. It offers bold colours such as Supermoon Silver, Aurora Green, and Meteor Grey.
The Motorola Edge 30’s downsides include its all-plastic construction and lack of a 3.5mm headphone port. It is tough to handle since the oval-shaped camera hump is noticeably thicker than the rest of the back. At only 155gm, the phone is also light, making it difficult to grasp.
The Motorola Edge 30 has a 4020mAh non-removable middling battery life with 33W charging support.
The Motorola Edge 30 is only for you if you seek a shorter battery life. However, it is considered as low as other similarly priced phones. Although not bad, the battery has a 33W charger that can take the device from 0 to 100% in about 45 minutes.
The Motorola Edge 30 boasts a 6.5-inch AMOLED screen with a fluid refresh rate of 144 Hz. It boasts a pixel density of 405ppi and a high resolution of 2400 x 1080. It is the first device in its class to include an OLED panel with a 144Hz display. This screen boasts FHD+ resolution and very few bezels surrounding it. While Amazon prime and Netflix cannot stream in HDR on the smartphone, the panel is HDR10+ compatible. The phone is more compact since it is 0.2 inches smaller than the previous Edge phones.
The phone has three cameras: a 50MP primary camera, a 2MP depth camera and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. A hole-shaped camera sits atop the screen in front of the Motorola Edge 30. To create images with a 12.6 MP resolution and maintain some storage space, the camera, by default, employs pixel-binning technology. The phone lacks optical zoom since it relies on digital zoom to magnify images. However, the camera is excellent compared to other phones since the pictures seem much more realistic because the software doesn’t overload them.
The night mode is only compatible with the primary camera, which has a 50MP f/1.8 sensor and OIS. During the day, this camera is capable of taking excellent images. The primary lens’s dynamic range is its only drawback since it makes poor photographs as twilight falls. The 4-in-1 pixel binning technology helps the 50Mp sensor take images with excellent detail and clarity.
A 50MP f/2.2 ultra-wide camera with a 118° viewing angle is included on the Motorola Edge 30. Macro photography also uses this sensor. Although it performs much better than the ultra-wide sensor used in the Edge 30’s predecessor, the f.2.2 aperture and EIS make it less effective in low light. Although there is less overall detail than the primary lens, it performs well in well-lit scenes.
A third, 2MP depth camera is included for portrait photography, although it basically serves as an extra camera. Extreme close-up photography is made possible via this feature. However, the quality is subpar and most likely only included to increase the number of cameras.
The Motorola Edge 30 sports a stunning 6.5-inch 144Hz AMOLED display, fantastic performance, fluid and nice display, and dual speakers; it is tiny, thin, and remarkably light, making it the lightest 5G smartphone on the market. Additionally, it boasts clean software, a fluid and stutter-free system, a 33W charger in the box, and good cameras.
While reviewing the Motorola Edge 30’s battery life is average, it only receives two years’ worth of OS upgrades, the depth snapper doesn’t contribute much, the ultra-wide camera suffers in low light, and selfies taken at night aren’t the best. Additionally, there is no wireless charging, Android upgrades are sluggish, and performance might be throttled.
The Motorola Edge 30 boasts dual speakers, which give powerful and clearer sound, but the ultra-thin chassis doesn’t have a place for a headphone jack. The Motorola Edge 30 has Dolby Atmos audio and supports stereo speakers.
Stereo speakers are often mounted on the device’s left and right sides, and each speaker uses its corresponding stereo channel to create a stereo impression. However, Motorola Edge 30 had two speakers, one on the bottom and one on top, which together produced stereo sounds. They can get loud enough to be heard well enough for speeches and music without a lot of stacked sounds, but more intricate arrangements sometimes get lost. Increasing the loudness shows high abrasive frequencies as well.
By including height channels, Dolby Atmos improves the current surround sound systems and makes it possible to perceive sounds as three-dimensional objects. The speakers of the Motorola Edge 30 support Dolby Atmos audio. Dolby Atmos is always on when using the speakers of this gadget, but when using headphones, users have many customization options.
While reviewing the Motorola Edge 30, it has an IP52 waterproof rating, which isn’t the greatest you can get for a phone but still allows it to endure light water splashes. Other phones are more protected, and the Motorola Edge 30 has taken the expense to obtain an official IP classification for water resistance. Thus, the Motorola Edge 30 is not completely water resistant.
The Motorola Edge should be upgraded until Android 15 and, therefore, should receive security patches up to 2026 before its end of life with three years of OS upgrades. Anyone who intends to purchase the new smartphone will find that to be excellent news.
American consumer electronics company Motorola Mobility LLC, also known as Motorola, specialises in making Android-powered phones and other mobile devices. It is a division of the Lenovo Group, a global technology corporation based in China.
Motorola Edge 30 is one of the best Mid-range phones and the thinnest 5G smartphone in the world. On the positive side, it has a 6.5-inch AMOLED display, good camera specifications and dual speakers. It is simple to access the fingerprint sensor underneath the display. And Fingerprint, accelerometer, gyro and proximity sensors. But Motorola Edge 30 is not for users who want a longer battery life and a solid waterproof rating. An IP52 waterproof rating is not better for a phone. Many other alternatives for a mid-range phone are available if battery and water resistance are your main priority.
