Powerful and durable Oukitel RT1 rugged Android tablet review!

Share

Oukitel, a challenger brand that specializes in rugged smartphones, provided us with an Oukitel RT1 rugged tablet to review for just over $200. On paper, it checks all the boxes: we like the size. The fact that it can hold two 4G SIM cards, that it runs on a recent Android release. Also, it has two Samsung-sourced 16-megapixel camera sensors, and, to top it off, it has a large 10,000mAh battery. It’s also worth noting that it’s a water- and shock-resistant tablet. We’d be hesitant to pay $400 for it, but for $210, it’s a steal.

Pricing and Availability

At the moment of typing, the Oukitel RT1 was available for as little as $209.99 at Banggood; that’s roughly £160 or AU$289 excluding delivery and local taxes.

Oukitel RT1 Design

The RT1 weighs 825g, which is roughly twice as much as a similar 10.1-inch tablet like the Sony Xperia Z. Much of it is due to the reinforced body. These include vital features like rubberized edges and a metal frame to help absorb shock. It is quite portable, having dimensions of 251 x 170mm and a thickness of 14.5mm. Because this is a shock-resistant tablet, it has IP68 and IP68K ratings, as well as MIL-STD-810G certification.

The back of the tablet features Oukitel’s logotype as well as a modest post-modernist style. A 16-megapixel rear camera with a flash LED is tucked away in the top right corner. When you turn the tablet over, you’ll see the 10.1-inch FHD+ display, which is protected by a layer of glossy glass that, unfortunately, isn’t oleophobic. Even when the protective plastic film has been removed, the screen is quite susceptible to fingerprints. A 16-megapixel front-facing camera is located somewhere on the top bezel.

On the tablet’s left side, there’s a Type-C port, a SIM tray, and a microSD card slot, which locates by rubber flaps. It’s possible to load two 4G SIM cards, which is a tempting possibility. The volume rocker and a power button are on the opposite side. On the tablet’s longer side, two speaker grills hide two genuine speakers. While the other edge has what appears to be a microphone pinhole. There are no POGO connectors, implying that Oukitel will not offer optional accessories such as vehicle charging ports.

Display Quality

The Oukitel RT1 has an LCD IPS screen, which is typical of Chinese budget smartphones, but that doesn’t mean it’s bad because it’s 10.1 inches FHD with a good resolution of 1200 x 1920, so you can enjoy any content on the tablet with good color accuracy and brightness, as well as improved response accuracy, and it won’t let you down. The screen’s bezels are extremely thick. This is one of the best screens available on a Rugged tablet, with outstanding color reproduction and no visual distortion for easy reading which are excellent for viewing visual stuff on YouTube or elsewhere.

In short, I won’t argue that the RT1 has the finest screen, but in the Rugged category, you’ll receive the most value for your money, with a huge and high-quality screen that’s ideal for media consumption, whether you’re watching movies, playing games, or browsing social media.

Software

The Oukitel RT1 runs Android 11 and includes full-screen gesture navigation controls, dark themes, and split-screen view, as well as the majority of the system’s features, the most important of which is the presence of all Google services, which makes the tablet experience more smooth and personalized.

As I often say, the original Android system is perfect for low-cost devices, with a simple and smooth launcher for better performance, especially when there are no pre-installed apps or games. I usually despise this due to the enormous amount of advertisements, but this time is different.

Oukitel RT1 Performance

When it comes to performance, the Oukitel RT1 excels in most of its basic and entertainment functions, such as browsing the web, watching YouTube videos, using social media apps, and reading e-books, as everything ran smoothly and without any issues with applications stopping or reaching high degrees.

Well, it’s time to put the Oukitel RT1 through its paces, and nothing beats playing games on high settings. The conditions here range depending on the application, game, or any type of business that requires a lot of resources, and because the processor used here is MediaTek Helio P22 octa-core 2.3GHz processor and 22mm architecture was one of the most powerful processors used in mid-range tablets, everything ran smoothly even in medium-graphics mode. This processor is based on the Mali G53 multi-core processor running at 1.8 GHz and the IMG PowerVR GE8320 graphics processor.

Oukitel RT1 Cameras

In terms of the front and back cameras, you can say it’s fine, not much different from other tablets. But it’s better, the back contains a 16MP primary sensor, but that doesn’t mean it’s ideal, especially when we’re talking about a medium-cost tablet; the front and back cameras, you can say it’s fine, not much different from other tablets but it’s better; in terms of the front and back cameras, you can say it’s fine, not much different This camera can capture 1080p video, but you’ll only use it seldom because the quality is inferior to that of a smartphone introduced in recent years.

WaterProof

The Oukitel RT1 is dust-resistant, scratch-resistant, shock- and drop-resistant, and water-resistant up to 1.5 meters for up to 30 minutes, with an IP68 and IP69K rating. It also has MIL-STD-810G certification. This is a military standard that ensures the device’s integrity is maintained in practically any condition.

Battery And Charging Time

The Oukitel RT1 has a built-in 10000mAh Li-Po battery. These allow 8-10 hours of continuous use for surfing the Internet, Google, YouTube, and social media. Of course, the time is less when playing games and using 4G. But it will last you a whole day on a single charge. It usually takes about 4 hours to fully charge 10000mAh using Type-C, and the charging time appears long, but this capacity is not small, and there is fast charging support for 18W. However, I can attest to the fact that the battery was in good condition.

Conclusion

I believe the Oukitel RT1 is one of the best budget tablets, with a good processor, ample memory of 64GB, 4GB RAM, connectivity standards, and a 2k screen. However, it is not perfect, as it lacks a fingerprint reader, slow battery charging, low camera quality. You cannot watch Netflix in HD resolution, but it provides powerful performance at a low price, so if you are looking for a Rugged tablet at this time, you will not find anything better than RT1.
