Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e: The perfect tablet for movie addicts!

Share

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is a stylish and light mid-range Android tablet. It is not a cheap tablet, but it is significantly less expensive than Samsung’s flagship Galaxy Tab S4. While the Tab S4 is designed for professionals, the S5e is aimed at content consumers and binge-watchers who may also use it to work on the move. Not to mention that it boasts a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670, which allows it to play games like PUBG Mobile while still fitting better in your palm.

The Galaxy Tab S5e has a 10.5-inch display, a Snapdragon 670 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. We looked at the cellular model, which is somewhat more expensive than the WiFi-only option. So we got an action-packed experience with the S5e, or does it have the edginess to compete with the two-year-old iPad at this price?

Price and availability

Both tablets are available in two configurations: Wi-Fi-only and Wi-Fi + LTE, as well as three color options: black, gold, and silver. The Wi-Fi-only Tab S5e costs $473.91 and £419.99. It is already available and can be purchased via Samsung e-Shop, Opera House, Amazon, and regional retail outlets. The Tab S5e Wi-Fi edition is also available.

Design, display, and audio

You will be immediately delighted with how lightweight and elegant the Galaxy Tab S5e is. Even with the keyboard attachment attached, which adds some weight to the body, it seems to be a tiny notebook.

You can slip it into any little purse or sleeve, and even with the keyboard cover attached, it’s small enough to carry in your hand. It weighs roughly 400 grams, making it simple to handle for extended periods of time and making it much easier to use on the move.

It measures 245 x 160 x 5.5mm, making it one of the thinnest slates on the market, although it sacrifices the headphone jack. However, an adaptor is included in the box, allowing you to connect your wired headphones to the USB-C connection. The Galaxy Tab S5e’s only connectors are a USB-C port and a POGO pin connection for connecting a smart keyboard.

The power/lock button is located at the top of the right side of the tablet (when held in portrait mode), and it includes a fingerprint sensor. That is, there is no home button on the front to accommodate the fingerprint sensor, allowing for greater screen real estate. But that doesn’t mean it’s bezel-less or even close; the boundaries are narrower than previous generation tablets but still apparent.

The volume rocker is located just beneath the power/lock key and is simple to reach with one hand. The metal unibody delivers a strong and quality touch and feel, but there’s no getting around the fact that the back looks extremely boring, akin to cheap tablets from a few years ago. As a result, the rear eventually fails to provide richness to the aesthetics seen on the Apple iPad.

Multitasking and gaming

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is pretty well-equipped to give a solid Android experience, thanks to its Snapdragon 670 CPU and 4GB of RAM. Keeping this in mind, we emphasized the importance of multitasking and gaming.

You can play PUBG on the gadget several times, and it’s a better gaming tablet than the Galaxy Tab S4. While the performance is comparable, the form factor is critical in making it a good tablet for gaming. It comfortably runs PUBG Mobile’s fast-paced Team Deathmatch while keeping the visuals on the middle side. When compared to the iPad 9.7 32GB Cellular? The iPad provides superior gaming performance.

The Tab S5e handles multitasking well; it can do anything you’d do on a tablet at the same time. However, keep in mind that performance diminishes over time, and switching, launching, and shutting programs may cause a lag after a few months of use. It’s quick, but it lacks the smoothness of the Tab S4 and its iPad competitors.

It has 64GB of internal storage. However, because Samsung understands that people are obsessed with external cards, it maintains compatibility for microSD cards up to 512GB, making it even better for movie/series collectors. It is useful for storing movies or data while the internet is unavailable.

The main interface resembles that of current Samsung Galaxy phones. The Dex mode, which provides a desktop-like experience for improved productivity, is the primary distinction in its case. You may activate Dex mode from the notification bar’s fast action menu.

When using the Dex interface, keep in mind that it will not be able to withstand as much force as the Tab S4. The advantage is that you can use many windows at the same time, as well as programs like Chrome in Windows mode, however, some apps cannot be used in full-screen mode. Netflix is a frequent example, but it is not what the Dex mode is for.

Keyboard cover

In addition, Samsung is selling a Book Cover keyboard. When the Tab S5e is snapped, it connects to the keyboard through the POGO connect and enters Dex mode.

The Samsung keyboard feels tight, regardless of how small your laptop keyboard is, and there is a learning curve before you can get fast on it. The keys aren’t lighted, and the tactile feedback is lacking, especially for an attachment that costs $8,000.

Battery:

The tablet’s aluminum chassis houses a big 7,040mAh battery that provides dependable operation on a single charge. According to Samsung, it can last up to 14.5 hours, but in practice, we can only guarantee all-day battery life. This is after 12 hours of surfing, gaming, and live cricket streaming on YouTube. On LTE, watching a 52-minute Netflix show in HD at maximum volume drained 9% of the battery. An hour of PUBG Mobile usage took almost the same amount of battery.

Samsung also keeps its Adaptive fast charging technology, but not the 25W supercharge seen on its pricier phones. Nonetheless, given its current charging pace, it takes around 120-140 minutes to charge from 0% to 100%.

Cameras

Great cameras are the last thing customers seek in a tablet since they have never been a major selling feature for a tablet. Tablets are not designed to take images, but they are frequently used to make video calls.

The Galaxy Tab S5e has a 13MP back camera and an 8MP selfie camera. It’s useful for calls and casual shots, but it can’t take Instagram-worthy photos. At best, you can take some acceptable photos in favorable lighting.

Conclusion

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e is in an almost unique position. At this pricing point, the Apple iPad is a two-year-old product. The iPad’s sole strengths are its software and design. Everything else on the Tab S5e feels better. The sleek design, gorgeous display, and excellent acoustics make it a must-have tablet for those searching for a portable entertainment device. Additional features, like as expandable memory and long battery life, make it an even more compelling purchase. If you’re searching for a tablet to utilize as a media device, the Tab S5e can be a good option. Dex is an effective productivity tool, but we’d want to see more of it in the future.
