The Corsair K70 RGB Pro mechanical keyboard isn’t unexpected in any way, which is a good thing. This wired mechanical gaming keyboard continues where the Corsair K70 Mk.2 left off, with a wide range of high-quality switches housed in a comfortable design. There are colorful lighting and sophisticated software, as well as a unique Tournament Mode that will appeal to the competitive crowd.

It’s impossible to think of a single area where the K70 RGB Pro doesn’t shine. The wrist rest isn’t as secure as it once was, and the USB port is no longer accessible. However, generally, the K70 RGB Pro is equally as brilliant as its forerunner, with a few pleasant additions. Continue reading for our complete Corsair K70 RGB Pro review.

Design of Corsair K70 RGB Pro

If you’ve recently seen a full-size Corsair keyboard, the K70 RGB Pro won’t surprise you. There is an appealing black brushed-metal chassis with a modest raise on top.

Each raised keycap has complete RGB lighting, allowing you to create a wide range of gorgeous rainbow effects. In the upper-right corner, there are distinct media controls, including a textured volume dial.

Controls for profiles, keyboard brightness, and Windows-key lock are found in the upper corner. There’s a switch on the back of the gadget that activates Tournament Mode, which we’ll go over later.

There’s nothing wrong with the K70 RGB Pro’s design, which has comfortable, slightly indented keycaps and a simple layout. The wrist rest, on the other hand, is a subject of concern for me. The wrist rest on previous K70 versions had a hinge that fitted into the main keyboard. If you pushed it too hard, it would break. But at least it stayed in position no matter how you moved the keyboard. The new wrist rest is magnetically attached and will fall off as soon as you move the keyboard up. Make the necessary preparations.

Corsair has also eliminated the prior model’s USB passthrough. This was a nice feature, but it also complicated wire management.

Typing performance of the Corsair K70 RGB Pro

The Speed Silver switches felt no different when typing than an MX Red switch. Because the material and the weight are similar, with the only variation being the actuation point.

Corsair did a fantastic job with the stabilizers on this board because there isn’t a lot of rattling, however, the amount of case bouncing is quite high, almost as if Corsair intended for it to sound pingy on purpose.  Even with a thick mouse mat below, the level of noise originating from this board was deafening. It didn’t bother me as much when I was gaming, but it was rather irritating when I was using the computer in general.

The K70 RGB Pro’s keycaps are a little coarse, but not as sticky as dye-sub PBT keycaps may be. Despite that, because the K70 isn’t a bouncy gasket mount board built for ASMR videos, there’s not much to write home about when it comes to typing on it. This is a gaming keyboard that promotes performance.

Features of K70 RGB Pro

The K70 RGB Pro utilizes Corsair’s iCUE software. Its design is great, but we thought it odd that we had to dig a little to get the 8,000Hz polling rate to work. It’s not that bad– just go to the device settings tab and select your chosen polling rate. On Corsair’s website, several lighting profiles are available for download and import.

When it came to RGB customization, iCUE was quite appealing; we had been on a Spider-Man kick lately because of how wonderful Spider-Man: No Way Home was, and making a lighting profile to match Spidey’s colors was really simple here. We have had just enough capacity to incorporate 20 lighting profiles thanks to AXON.

With 8,000Hz hyper-polling, 4,000Hz key scanning, and up to 20 layers of hardware RGB lighting processing, AXON achieves a new level of performance by processing and sending your inputs up to 8x quicker than typical gaming keyboards while retaining speed performance.

These days, there are a plethora of popular competitive esports titles. However, the 8MB of storage on the keyboard allows for 50 onboard profiles, so we’ll have plenty of room to customize things to your taste without having to erase existing profiles.

To demonstrate how easy it is to record macros. It is programmed with the insert key to copy and the home key to paste. To do so, go to the key assignments page, choose one desired key, add a key assignment, and type “ctrl + C,” and that’s all there is to it.

Conclusion

Because of its strong construction and low deck flex, the Corsair K70 RGB Pro is an excellent all-around pick. Along with this, there are some snappy linear switches that are great for gaming, as well as the strength of an 8000Hz polling rate for the most competitive gamers.

The Corsair K70 RGB Pro is an innovative update to one of the greatest gaming keyboards ever created. The addition of Tournament Mode is a pleasant one.

Besides that, the K70 RGB Pro is as excellent as gaming keyboards get. If you can afford the asking price, this is the gadget to have – unless you’re waiting for Corsair to release a wireless edition. Let’s hope so.
