There are an incredible number of Bluetooth speakers available for purchase. While the majority are excellent for casual listening, they aren’t attractive to look at. By drawing on Marshall’s legendary past as one of the most famous names in live rock ‘n’ roll, the company’s collection of portable speakers deftly avoids the generic speaker trap. It has upgraded the $170 Emberton speaker for 2022 and introduced the even more compact and portable Marshall Emberton 2, which costs $120.

This tiny speaker now has features like more outstanding durability, stacking numerous units together, excellent battery life, and more. The cost is higher this time around at $169/£149, though. But Marshall Emberton 2 is a bit similar to its predecessors in design.

Therefore, this speaker already has a lot of things going in terms of size and design. They can even play outside their limitations and spend considerable time with them to see how far they might push themselves. However, as Marshall added sufficient capabilities and functions to Marshall Emberton 2, has to justify their premium pricing?

Design of Marshall Emberton 2

Design

This speaker’s appearance has not altered, Marshall, and why would it be sincere? All the buttons, charging ports, and lights are in the exact location, and the weight and dimensions are similar.

Again, Marshall Emberton 2 has a compatible design concept. However, Marshall mainly constructed the original Emberton in the same manner. Thus, it is not brand-new. This time, the rubbery surface has a more leather-like feel, as well as the front is black to draw attention to the front emblem, which is brass in color. For this speaker, Marshall also has a cream version with a distinctive throwback aesthetic in the manner the firm is famous for.

Marshall Emberton 2 has the same 2.7 x 6.3 x 3.0-inch size and 1.5-pound weight as the old one. Marshall left the USB-C connector, LEDs, and multifunction button in place. Due to the dual 2-inch speakers with 10w Class-D amplifiers and two passive radiators, the interior also covers the ground.

The Emberton II is constructed from recycled plastic used to make electronics, water bottles, and vehicle light covers. It is also completely free of PVC, which is lovely to see. Additionally, a subsequent version of Marshall Emberton II is Bluetooth 5.1 compliant and offers the SBC codec but not AAC or AptX. Your high-fidelity audio files won’t play at their full quality, but this is a standard degree of support for a Bluetooth speaker.

How to use it?

How to use Marshall Emberton 2

If you haven’t used the classic Emberton, the large brass controlling knob in the center controls playback, power, and most other functions. The Bluetooth connecting button is a little one to the left, and 10 red LEDs on the opposite side show the battery level.

The Marshall speaker is straightforward, and the packaging comes with a USB-C charging cord. Since this is a Bluetooth speaker, first of all, the only thing I’d probably add is a 3.5mm aux input.

What’s the change in it?

What's the change in Marshall Emberton 2

So, what’s the change?  Why does Marshall want an extra $20 for the marshall Emberton 2? The ability to synchronize Marshall Emberton 2 with other Marshall Emberton 2 speakers in Stack Mode is a significant advance. It functions similarly to Soundcore’s PartyCast mode and JBL’s Party Mode.

Additionally, it is more durable because it now has dust and waterproofing for full IP67 certification. That will allow you to withstand any sand or other beach material and complete seawater submersion for up to 30 minutes at a length of roughly three feet.

But bear in mind that Marshall Emberton 2 does not float, in contrast to certain other fully waterproof portables. Additionally, if you use it in a swimming pool or salt water, you must thoroughly clean it in freshwater resources before storing it.

Battery life of Marshall Emberton 2

Battery life of Marshall Emberton 2

Want more justification for choosing Marshall Emberton 2 over the original Emberton? The battery life has risen by 50%. If you don’t turn up the volume past 50%, Marshall’s promise of at least 30 hours of playing per charge (an increase of 10 hours over the Emberton) is mainly accurate. You can reduce it by more than 50% if you keep it running at full (or almost complete) volume. All things aside, that’s still relatively decent, so if you listen to an average sound volume, you won’t need to charge it too frequently. Up to four hours of playing may be achieved with a rapid 20-minute charge. But a complete charge from a dead battery takes three hours.

Do Marshall Emberton speakers are well enough?

The greatest portable Bluetooth speaker for anyone who values style and isn’t a control freak about volume is the Marshall Emberton speaker. It also has one of the greatest sounding Bluetooth speakers for its size, so there’s no reason to worry about it.

Can two Marshall Emberton speakers be paired?

The Marshall Emberton Bluetooth speaker provides an excellent Bluetooth connection. Switching between various audio sources is simple thanks to its ability to simultaneously link up to 2 devices.

The loudest Marshall speaker?

Marshall Kilburn II is the loudest, most significant, and most portable Bluetooth speaker. Contrary to some competitors, it is loud enough to bother the neighbors without distorting or losing its cool.

Conclusion:

Although the DSP may be a touch harsh at high levels and the deep bass can occasionally test the drivers, Marshall Emberton 2 looks nice and offers a rich audio experience over most songs. Due to these flaws and the fact that the speaker isn’t a massive improvement over its predecessor, the pricing feels a little expensive. The alternative to Marshall Emberton 2 is the Sony SRS-XB33  and the JBL Charge 5 in this price bracket since they both have more power. The JBL Flip 6, which is cheaper, also offers a similar audio experience and the same degree of durability.
