ZTE Axon 30 Ultra: Highly affordable 5G phone with amazing features!

Share

The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra is an amazing smartphone. The features aren’t out of the ordinary; everything you’d expect from a flagship-class device is present. It’s simply that you’ll be amazed at how powerful this phone is even though costing hundreds of dollars less than high-end phones like Apple and Samsung.

The “Ultra” logo has grown increasingly popular for the top Android phones. However, the Axon 30 Ultra is the cheapest of these devices while still delivering decent hardware to back it up. It’s a steal when compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro or the iPhone 12 Pro.

Price and Availability of ZTE Axon 30 Ultra

The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5Gsmartphone launched on sale in the United States on June 4, 2021, with a release scheduled for Canada, Europe, Japan, and other nations. However, ZTE did not specify when these other territories would receive it. Still don’t know yet whether the phone will be available in the United Kingdom or Australia.

The 8GB RAM and 128GB storage option of the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G costs $749 / £649 (about AU$965), and the 12GB RAM and 256GB version costs up to $849 USD, £739 GBP (approximately AU$1,095). That’s more than the ZTE Axon 30 Pro 5G, which reportedly cost €400 (about $485 / £345 / AU$630).

The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G is available in black and white, as well as light blue and light brown.

Design of ZTE Axon 30 Ultra

Despite its huge camera block, the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G looks very stylish. That is its greatest distinguishing feature. The phone also features more polished touches that make it appear even more luxurious than previous flagship phones.

Because the front and rear glass are curved, the shiny black metal sides between them are very thin. It has a nice appearance but is too little to gain a decent hold on. As a result, holding one-handed is difficult, if not painful. To fit on these sides, these buttons – a textured lock button and a power button rocker – must be slim.

Those slim sides flow perfectly into the beautifully chromed top and bottom. The top contains a single microphone. While the bottom includes a USB-C connector in the center, a speaker on the right, and a SIM card slot on the left. Another speaker is located near the earpiece on the top of the display, and when used together, they generate a highly even sound, which is ideal for watching media on the go.

The phone’s glass back is coated, but it’s the camera block. A huge rectangle in the top left corner will catch your attention. This gives the camera block a loose appearance. The chromatic finish on the area between the lens contrasts beautifully with the phone’s back cover’s non-reflective frosted glass.

Display

The 6.7-inch display of the Axon 30 Ultra necessitates a minor sacrifice. The screen refreshes at a rate of 144Hz, which is faster than the increasingly popular 120Hz rate found on luxury Android phones. However, you’ll have to settle with FHD resolution rather than the better QHD resolution found on phones such as the OnePlus 9 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.

To conserve battery life, the Axon 30 Ultra employs an adjustable refresh rate system that may reduce the refresh rate to as low as 30Hz when performing more static tasks. The Axon 30 has a stepped system rather than the completely flexible screens featured on the S21 Ultra or OnePlus 9 Pro, but it still works perfectly.

The dual speakers brought out the most in the powerful classical music. The display of the Axon 30 Ultra is OK, but some phones have more attractive screens.

Performance of ZTE Axon 30 Ultra

The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G comes with top-tier smartphone specifications, beginning with the Snapdragon 888 CPU. The phone has 8GB of RAM that can be grown to 16GB. on paper, it’s one of the most powerful smartphones available.

In fact, the phone operates well, with no hang-ups or slowdowns even while performing demanding tasks such as streaming video or playing heavy games.

The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G smartphone ships with Android 11, which includes universal dark mode and other latest Android features. With brighter pastel hues and taller, squared-off icons than other phones, the MyOS overlay stands out more than other Android skins.

The software on the phone isn’t as sophisticated as that on competitor flagship phones. Apps were occasionally slow or failed to load. The camera app, for example, failed to fully activate from the Lock Screen numerous times and simply displayed a blank screen.

Software

ZTE’s MyOS 11 isn’t the preferred version of Android 11, but there aren’t many flaws. ZTE pre-installs just a few non-Google apps, as well as the UI components it has changed, which are crisp and clean.

When it comes to menus and settings, ZTE hasn’t done the best job of translating descriptions and other lengthier explanatory captions. It doesn’t interfere with operation, but it’s a refining problem that is never seen when using Samsung or OnePlus phones.

Battery life

The battery capacity of the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra 5G smartphone is comparable to that of other premium phones, like the 4,800mAh battery of the Samsung Galaxy S21 Plus. There is no wireless charging or inverse wireless charging. But there are battery-saving options to help you get more usage out of your device.

On a full charge, the Axon 30 Ultra 5G may last more than a day and well into the second. Tasks consume the battery at a pace comparable to other flagship phones: viewing a 30-minute TV episode and playing a 10-minute match of a graphically-intensive game.

But that doesn’t matter much given how quickly you can charge the phone with the integrated 65W charger. In one case, you can charge the phone from 3 percent to 84 percent in 30 minutes.

Conclusion

The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra smartphone has earned the right to use the term “ultra.” The majority of its hardware is on par with the best phones on the market right now.
However, the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra will not be at the top of many best-of lists because of its less advanced capabilities. If the phone had a little larger battery capacity. with a QHD resolution display, or consistent camera software, it would easily be comparable to the OnePlus 9 Pro, iPhone 12 Pro, or Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.
The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra, thankfully, does not have to be. Its current price is so low that such shortcomings are readily overlooked. The ZTE Axon 30 Ultra is a true flagship killer. It should be your next phone and it should be your first pick if you want the best hardware at the best pricing.
