What is the physical card like?
You can make digital Apple Pay payments, but Apple is also providing a physical card. Since this is a credit card designed by Apple, it is, of course, unique among credit cards. It’s made entirely from titanium, which is laser etched with your name. The front of the card does not have a card number or an expiration date listed, and on the back, there’s no CVV and no signature. If someone finds or steals your card, there’s no real way for them to use it, at least for online purchases.

How to activate your Apple Card
You need a compatible iPhone with the latest iOS version to activate your titanium Card. When your titanium Card arrives, it’s easy to activate.
Activate on iPhone XS Max, iPhone XS, iPhone XR, or later
- Open the packaging that has your titanium Card inside.
- Wake your iPhone and follow the instructions inside your cardholder.
- Tap Activate.
Activate on iPhone X or earlier
- Open Wallet on your iPhone and tap Apple Card.
- Tap Activate Your Card.
- Wake your iPhone and follow the instructions inside your card holder.
See if you’re eligible for Apple Card
- U.S. citizen or a lawful resident with a valid, physical U.S. address that’s not a P.O. Box. You can also use a military address.

How to Lock or Unlock Your Apple Card
How to lock your card
You can lock your titanium Card on your iPhone or iPad.
On iPhone
- Open Wallet and tap Apple Card.
- Tap the more button.
- Scroll down to Physical Card and tap Lock Card, then follow the instructions on your screen.
On iPad
- Open the Settings App.
- Scroll down and tap Wallet & Apple Pay.
- Tap Apple Card.
- Under Physical Card, tap Lock Card, then follow the instructions on your screen.
After you lock your card, you cannot use it to make purchases until you unlock your card.
How to Unlock your card
You can unlock your titanium Card on your iPhone or iPad.
