If you are looking for a robot vacuum to clean your home and save you some time, then Eufy RoboVac X8 is the perfect solution. It is packed with intelligent features and is user-friendly, making it worth the money. If you want to know more about it, here is a review of the Eufy RoboVac X8.
When you think about smart home technology, one name that pops up in your head is Eufy by Anker which debuted in 2016. The firm, along with supplying a variety of home security devices, also offers a variety of floor care products. It has established itself as one of the leading robot vacuum manufacturers. The Eufy RoboVac X8 is the brand’s newest and most advanced model with Dual-Cyclone technology. The twin turbines boost suction for a better clean. The robot vacuum also has a LiDAR sensor. This allows it to understand the architecture of your home and determine which rooms to clean and the most effective path to take.
It employs AI in the same way as Eufy’s top home security cameras and video doorbells do. The same technology is X8 detects and avoids obstructions while cleaning. Moreover, it includes a 0.15 gallon / 0.6-liter dust canister that compresses material as it enters the canister to gather as much as possible. Also, it won’t fly around as much while emptying.
The rechargeable battery lasts for 180 minutes, and the Boost IQ technology increases the suction strength automatically when it recognizes the carpet. It’s ideal for busy yet uncluttered homes where it can roam around freely on a regular basis and maintain clean floors without external help.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 costs $599.99 and can be purchased directly from Eufy. Eufy also has a 2-in-1 mop and vacuum. The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid robot vacuum and mop can be purchased for $649 on Amazon. The Eufy RoboVac X8, a vacuum-only variant, costs $599. Moreover, the Eufy RoboVac X8 has a brighter look on top with pink and blue highlights, as well as a larger 600ml dustbin.
The RoboVac comes in two colors: black and white. The top of this vacuum reveals the “Twin Turbine Technology” under the hood. A pair of gold and black lines that angle toward the silver Eufy emblem in the center is also printed on the top. As it has a height of 3.7inches/9.5cm, it won’t fit under low-clearance furniture. Even after this, it is a compact robot vacuum, with a diameter of 13.8 inches/ 35cm. The 0.15-gallon / 0.6-liter dust container is simple to remove and empty after each usage. It uses UltraPack technology to condense the debris as much as possible, so you don’t need to empty it as frequently. The washable high-performance filter is housed in the dust container.
It is easy to remove and clean when emptying the dust. You need to wash it on a frequent basis for maximum performance. The Eufy RoboVac X8 features only one revolving side brush, unlike many other robot vacuums. However, it always positions itself so that it brushes against the room’s edge. You also get a spare brush in the box.
Pure, power, turbo, and max suction power settings are available. The BoostIQ setting allows the vacuum to automatically raise suction power based on floor type. The Eufy RoboVac X8 includes a laser distance sensor that stands out higher than the rest of the vacuum. The Eufy RoboVac X8 includes laser mapping and navigation, which it uses to find the most efficient cleaning path around your home. It can even store maps of many levels. Thus, ensuring that it always knows where the vacuum is cleaning. There’s also a spot clean feature that cleans a 4.9 x 4.9 ft/ 1.5m x 1.5m square thoroughly. This feature is ideal for spills. In front of the laser turret and its black reflective cover are a blue Wi-Fi light and three physical buttons. These are for docking, start/stop cleaning, and spot cleaning.
The roller brush comes with a combination of rubber and bristles in the center, flanked on either side by two rubberized wheels. The roller brush’s bristles were thicker and softer and attract more carpet fuzz and fragments of dismembered dust bunnies.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 requires very little setup and can begin vacuuming immediately after being charged, even before you’ve set it up on the app. It cleans rooms in a methodical manner, reducing the odds of regions being overlooked. It does so with the help of its intelligent laser mapping and route planning. Like most robot vacuums, it works best when programmed to clean regularly. This is a break from the weekly thorough vacuuming you might be used to if you haven’t used one before.
The vacuum navigates most rooms efficiently, carefully avoiding impediments. Although its height prevents it from fitting under low-clearance furniture. It easily transitions from a hard floor to a deep pile rug and cleans it. The app has a lot of smart features. This includes the ability to clean certain rooms and set up no-go zones and borders to be extremely handy.
When the robot vacuum is set on Pure, the lowest suction power, the sound measure about 60dB. However, when set to maximum suction, it reaches 70 decibels. Although it isn’t the noisiest robot vacuum, it is something to consider if you plan to use it for nighttime cleaning. You’ll need to perform some maintenance, such as emptying the dust container, cleaning the sensors, and washing the filter. Moreover, you’ll also need to change the brushes on a regular basis. The best part is that the app maintains track of usage so you can see when they need to be replaced. Furthermore, compared to the time you’ll save by not vacuuming your house on your own, this minor maintenance is trivial.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid marks the area to be cleaned, then moves back and forth in an S-shaped pattern, filling in the space it just drew. The meticulous technique is amazing, but it sometimes overlooks minor strews of litter. On hardwood floors, the Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid worked better than on carpet, especially when it came to cleaning up fur. The bot is exceptional at collecting dog hair, gathering up 89.5 percent of the fur on the floor. Although, it somewhat struggles to pick up Cheerios on the carpet, preferring to roll over and crush many of them rather than pick them up.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid, like most hybrid robot vacuums and mops, prioritizes vacuuming over mopping. Even though, the reusable microfibre pad will clean up the dirt on your floors in an unobtrusive manner, don’t anticipate miracles. Unlike a standalone mopping robot, however, the RoboVac X8 Hybrid vacuums and mops at the same time, saving you time if you keep an eye on it. Though the half-moon-shaped mopping plate isn’t required to be attached at all times, the Eufy RoboVac does come with a huge translucent mat that’s designed to be affixed to the floor where the robot is docked.
The mat has little stickers on the underside to keep it in place on your floor. It’s supposed to protect your floor from a wet mop. To get the Eufy RoboVac mop up and running, you need to moisten the cleaning pad with water, link it to the tank, fill the little tank with water, and snap it into place on the bot’s underside. After doing this, go to the EufyHome app and draw a line around all of the no mop zones. This stage is a little of trial and error just like most mapping hybrid robots. However, trial-and-error modification isn’t possible because the app doesn’t remember any mop zones. This means you have to redraw those zones every time you use the mop.
There are no mopping specific choices inside the app, where you may regulate the amount of water the robot releases. There isn’t even a mop-only option. Instead, the RoboVac is the sole alternative for vacuuming and mopping at the same time.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 connects easily to the EufyHome app, giving you access to all of the smart features including room maps. These maps can be used to specify which rooms should be cleaned, create no-go zones, or dispatch the robot to a specific location for spot cleaning. You can also follow its cleaning path and see which areas it cleans while it works. It can also be used to check the battery status and alter the suction power. For voice control, it can work with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
All you need to do is to create an account after installing the EufyHome app (Android and iOS). After that, you can immediately connect the bot to your Wi-Fi network using the app. Then you need to make a map and clean up. The app allows you to simply draw a box around the area you wish to clean. It also allows no-go zones and virtual fences, which, unlike no mop zones, the software remembers between runs. Multiple maps are supported by the app, although they aren’t enabled by default. However, if you want to use it, go to the app’s settings menu and turn it on.
On the Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid, there are four suction power settings: Pure, Power, Turbo, and Max. If you can’t decide which one to choose, enable the BoostIQ feature. It adjusts suction power according to the kind of floor. Though each manufacturer handles room divisions differently and each has its own quirks, the EufyHome app’s room division can make you annoyed. There are options to divide and merge a map while altering it. In theory, you select an area and divide it up with resizable straight lines. However, messes up things with the division line. The procedure of partitioning and then integrating rooms is time-consuming.
The Eufy RoboVac X8 may run for up to three hours before needing to be recharged, depending on the power setting. Given the speed of the machine, it’ll only run out of battery in extremely large homes or if it can’t get back to the charging dock. When the battery is low, it returns to the charging dock automatically. Also, once charged, it resumes cleaning. A full charge takes up to five hours, but you’ll barely notice the time if you constantly return the vacuum to the charging port after usage. To make it easier for the vacuum to return, the dock should be placed with enough space around it.
Eufy is known for producing high-quality robot vacuums at a low cost. The Eufy RoboVac X8 Hybrid is full of smart features that will make cleaning your home easy. Although the mapping division experience is tedious, and mopping controls were almost non-existent, the bot does its job quite nicely. It’s not a bad option if you have pets and don’t want to deal with room-by-room cleaning. The tremendous suction provided by the twin-turbine technology is enough to clean even thick pile carpets thoroughly. It does an amazing job on hardwood floors, using the side-sweeper to remove dirt and debris out of all the nooks and crannies. Moreover, it will even mop it with the attachable mop head. When you combine fantastic features like various map compatibility, a slim design, LIDAR scanning, and good battery life, you get a powerful robot vacuum at an enticing mid-range price.
