If you’re on a budget yet want to have a security camera featuring built-in illumination. The Wyze Cam Floodlight is a good option. For less than $100, this outdoor surveillance camera combines the superb Wyze Cam v3 with just brilliant LED lighting.
However, in your study of the Wyze Cam Floodlight, you can observe that the setup procedure has a few peculiarities, and to enjoy the camera’s full range of functions, you must pay for the Wyze Cam Plus service. However, it’s an appealing and reasonable cost deal because this isn’t a significant commitment.
The Wyze Cam Floodlight is a straightforward, well-made floodlight that performs admirably. It also allows you to preserve lengthier recordings and use more powerful motion detection. But keep in mind the expense of the subscription. You’ll have to get the most out of it. Wyze Cam Plus costs $1.99 each month or $14.99 per year per camera. Also, the Wyze Cam Floodlight was out in the market in 2021, and it cost $84.99 from Wyze and the Home Depot, and Amazon.
The Wyze Cam Floodlight features a straightforward, effective design. It resembles a conventional floodlight with a camera attached to the top. The Wyze Cam V3 is placed on something like the passive Infrared (PIR) sensor. It is usually creating floodlights. It’s comparable to the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight or even the Ring Floodlight Cam.
The different sections of the Wyze Cam Floodlight can associate with a wire, allowing the camera to operate everything. However, this floodlight only comes with one camera. You can charge a second Wyze Cam V3 from a single USB connector on the rear. They enable you to run two cameras from a single power source.
The Wyze Cam V3, which is magnetically connected to the top of the floodlight cameras, is a highly competent, low-cost camera that can capture 1080P footage. It joins with your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection and communicates with Wyze servers directly through the Internet.
Many of the camera’s functions need a subscription to the Wyze Cam Plus service, a 14-day trial with every new camera. Cam Plus offers limitless video capture and storage and AI Intelligence capabilities such as human, package, and pet identification. The camera will only take 1 12-second video every five minutes if you use the free service. However, the $14.99 per camera per year subscription is worth it.
It’s a bit inconvenient to want to pay extra for these capabilities. However, it’s cheaper than Arlo, Ring, and Nest‘s surveillance camera subscription plans.
We found that the light works effectively, detecting humans, pets, and other animals. The general sensitivities of the PIR sensors may be adjusted. However, you don’t have the same level of perfect control as with cam motion detection. For example, you can’t prohibit it from reacting with motion in particular directions. If you stay near a road, you’ll need to be careful where you put the camera.
You can adjust the sensitivity of the Wyze Cam Floodlight camera motion recording since only movement in certain parts of the camera’s 80-degree view triggers the illumination and recording. This is a significant benefit if you place it near a sidewalk or road. You can also adjust the sensitivity of the camera’s PIR sensors inside the dark and configure the camera recording if it senses noise.
On the other hand, the lights had a propensity to blast out all the faces of persons standing too close to the camera. As a result, features are washed out, and the individual is no longer recognizable. You can adjust for this to some extent by decreasing the light intensity. But you may risk missing something near the detection area’s border in the dark. It’s a tricky balance that can be avoided if the camera could detect the illumination on a person’s face and change the exposure accordingly.
The camera also records audio of decent quality: conversations were discernible, and your dog’s barking didn’t drown it out.
The Wyze Cam Floodlight works with the same Wyze mobile app. The floodlight symbol on the camera’s Streaming screen can be used to switch the lights on or off manually, or users can go to the camera’s settings.
Adjust the brightness level, and schedule the lights to turn on from sunset to sunrise. Also, to have lights turn over when the camera sensor senses motion or sound and set a timer on the Floodlight tab. The Schedule option allows you to set time and day schedules and integrate with the other Wyze devices. Create a siren shortcut, set your lights to shine when the siren sounds, and upgrade the device’s firmware.
The Wyze Cam Floodlight combines an Editors’ Choice-winning security camera with an extraordinarily brilliant dual-lamp floodlight. Most importantly, it is far less expensive than other intelligent floodlight cameras. Such as the Arlo Pro 3 and the $279.99 Google Nest Cam With Floodlight. We’d want to be able to manage the gadget with a digital assistant, but that’s not a deal-breaker given how much less it costs than some of the competitors. So it is affordable, But it’s your choice to buy or not.
The Wyze Cam Floodlight is similar to most of Wyze’s other products in that it’s well-made, reasonably priced, and essentially trouble-free. To access all of the camera’s functions, you’ll need to subscribe to Wyze’s Cam Plus plan, as with many of the finest outdoor security cameras. The subscription, such as the camera itself, is far cheaper than rival security cameras.
The Wyze Cam Floodlight costs roughly $85, which is less than half the price of its two major competitors. The Ring Floodlight Cam and the Arlo Pro 3 Floodlight all have capabilities that the Wyze lacks. The Arlo, for example, does not require hardwiring. As well as, the Ring seems to have a more significant number of smart home gadgets that interact with its light.
