Nintendo Switch Controllers have been to be one of the best selling consoles of all time. It paid a lot of attention to playing on the go when designing the Switch but paid very little mind to the living room experience. A proper controller makes the Switch feel much more like a home console. It doesn’t matter if you prefer fast first-person shooters or slow narrative-driven experiences.
We’ve compiled a list to help you choose the best Nintendo Switch controllers for your needs however you want to play.
Nintendo’s option for the Switch is The Pro Controller. If you spend the majority of your time with the Nintendo Switch in its dock, the small Joy-Con grip might feel too small. It is a litlle exoensive but a best traditional gamepad for playing Switch games. Talking about features the Pro Controller offers the best of all.In addition, the motion controls can be used as they would be in handheld mode. Also, it comes with large face buttons, bumpers, triggers, and analog sticks.
If we see the design its translucent plastic with both sturdy and supremely comfortable, with ergonomic curves and textured grips on the handles. The thumbsticks are durable and soft to the touch, and the face buttons are big and satisfyingly clicky. It also has HD rumble to bring you into the game. The Pro Controller is rechargeable with an included USB C to USB A cable, which means charging speed is quick.

Its look comes out as the original Super NES controller when you see it. As a result, it is the perfect controller for the longtime Nintendo fan. If we see Switch’s multitude of NES games the way they were meant to be played, this is a must-have. This slick retro pad is essentially a re-creation of the iconic Super Nintendo controller, with a lightweight Candybar design, an excellent d-pad, and snappy face buttons. It even features rumble vibration and motion controls so you can play any Switch game without feeling hampered. In addition, D-Input and X-Input functionality are also there.
The SN30 Pro charges over USB-C and can connect to PCs, Macs, and Android devices via Bluetooth (no iOS, unfortunately), as well as to the Nintendo Switch. Plus, using Bluetooth and an internal battery, you’ll be able to play wirelessly for up to 20 hours. It stumbles a bit is with modern, dual-thumbstick games. The SN30 Pro is a wonderfully versatile controller that faithfully replicates the classic SNES pad while adding some welcome modern touches.
The versatility of the Joy-Cons is incredibly useful, both with the system in its handheld configuration and docked in an entertainment center. Sure, the Switch packs two Joy-Cons, but it never hurts to have an extra pair or two handy. Each individual Joy-Con doubles as a stand-alone mini-controller. They come equipped with face buttons, two bumpers, and triggers, directional buttons. As well as additional bumper buttons located on the side from when you’re only using one of them at a time.
A unique controller in that you can have one in each hand separately or connect them with a Joy-Con grip if you’d like a more traditional controller feeling. It’s not necessary to buy both, you can also get one single unit if you want. Even if these controllers are separated from the body of the Switch, players get to enjoy the motion controls and rumble vibration. Also, when attached to the Switch, they’re nearly perfect, offering much better control over your game. There are also plenty of charging accessories available if you’re using extra Joy-Cons and need to charge multiple pairs or connecting with a Nintendo Switch Lite. It also comes with Versatile design and comes in a variety of colors
The PowerA Enhanced Wireless Controller will resemble the Pro Controller at first glance. It is a great alternative if you have a less budget or cannot afford Nintendo’s Pro Controller. Also, the most beautiful wireless Switch controllers on the market with many different colors and themes to choose from. With Bluetooth and two AA batteries, you can easily go up to 30 hours of playing. In addition, with similarly positioned analog sticks and the same face buttons, shoulder buttons, and triggers, it may not seem particularly extraordinary.
This gamepad has a lightweight but substantial design, solid buttons and analog sticks that we’ve found to be even smoother than that of the Pro Controller. You can quickly program these buttons to perform the function of any other button. Plus, you can switch them on the fly if you need to adjust your settings for a specific game. Although the controller feels good in your hands and responds to motion controls. The Enhanced Wireless Controller comes in a variety of slick color schemes that include licensed Mario, Zelda and Diablo options.
If thinking of switching to the Nintendo Switch Lite, we suggest going for Hori’s amaizing D-Pad Controller. This neat little accessory replaces your Switch’s left Joy-Con with one that features a full directional pad, which feels even more precise and satisfying than Nintendo’s Pro Controller. The D-pad has been enlarged, and additional buttons have been added from the original GameCube controller making it easier to use. This is a wired version of the GameCube style Switch controller officially licensed by Nintendo.
You can choose from five different designs and their corresponding colors, including Zelda, Mario, Luigi, Pikachu, and Princess Peach. It comes with a 10-foot cable to give you more room to move around when playing. Unfortunately, the cable is not a USB and, as such, does not detach from the controller.
While it doesn’t work wirelessly and lacks HD rumble, Hori’s custom Joy-Con is a must-have for anyone who plays fighting games or platformers on the go. Part of what makes this controller so inexpensive is the lack of motion controls, vibration, and Amiibo functionality. It’s a fundamental option for those who don’t want to spend too much on a GameCube-style Switch controller.
These are some of the best options we feel are better and with more functionality, if you looking for a Nintendo Switch controllers. We personally recommend PowerA Enhanced Wireless Controller. It features motion controls making it an excellent choice for most action RPG and battle royale games and comes in six different colors and designs. It also has a 30-hour wireless battery life for those overnight gaming marathons. Most importantly it’s wireless. Plus, its Amazon choice and comes in a choice of selection in design and color and pretty much affordable.
