Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB OC Edition – The best GPU of its time!

Share

With its Pascal-based GPUs, Nvidia dominates the high-end graphics space. AMD’s Polaris-based GPUs are making a major impression in the general market. The businesses’ 14/16 nm chips would inevitably overlap. The arrival of AMD’s Vega GPUs, which offer performance to challenge the top tier of GeForce cards, has likely captured the most attention in the PC market. The Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti is the card that arguably best exemplifies Nvidia’s accomplishments with its Pascal architecture this year.

A super-efficient but Full HD-capable card for less than £150 provides amazing value and will fit neatly into almost any system in need of an affordable gaming performance increase.

While it lacks the raw power of the more interesting GTX cards which were announced at that time in 2016, its value-for-money ratio is clear.

But for now, Nvidia has introduced the GTX 1660 Ti. While it costs around £100 more, the price increase is warranted because the graphics card is optimized for current gaming as well as battle royale titles like Fortnite and Apex Legends. If you have the additional cash, we suggest the GTX 1660 Ti. However, the GTX 1050 Ti is still a good alternative at its current price of roughly £140.

Price & Availability

If you’re very tight on funds, the £100 GTX 1050 is a choice, but we believe the GTX 1050 Ti will last you further for what is, in real terms, a little amount of additional cash despite a 50% price increase over the less costly version. Its quicker CPU and 4GB of RAM  provide lots of extra room for new titles that require greater performance.

The Zotac GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB OC Edition also easily outperforms AMD-based competitors like the XFX AMD Radeon 4GB Double Dissipation, and at only £24 more, we believe it’s well worth the extra money. To go much quicker than this, you’d need a Radeon RX 470 or a GeForce GTX 1060, and you’d be in a whole new league in terms of supported hardware requirements.

Design

The GTX 1050 Ti, which was unveiled with its less powerful stablemate, the GTX 1050, has wholly new silicon based on Nvidia’s current ‘Pascal’ architecture, which includes high-end cards like the fantastic GTX 1080.

With 768 CUDA cores and a boost clock speed of 1392 MHz, paired with 4GB of GDDR4 memory, this card is clearly at the bottom of the efficiency ladder, with only the basic GTX 1050 beneath it. However, Nvidia did manage to pack all of this into a card that draws less than 75W, indicating that it can be powered entirely through the motherboard. As a result, the GTX 1050 Ti provides the greatest performance presently available in a PC that does not allow extra graphics card power connections without the use of adapters.

Cooler Design

The body of the cooler is simpler than the one seen on MSI’s 6 GB GeForce GTX 1060. However, it does not have to deal with as much waste heat. The bigger Gaming X graphics cards from MSI include nickel-plated sinks. Instead, the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti Gaming X 4 GB has a basic metal appearance.

On one side, the 8 mm heat pipe is flattened, and on the other, it is shoved into the sink. This architecture is excellent when utilized with tiny GPUs that don’t get too hot, such as Nvidia’s GP107.

Features

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB OC Edition from Zotac adds a few premium touches to the standard GTX 1050 Ti design. It’s a factory overclocked variant, with a speed increase from 1,392MHz to 1,506MHz, and the GPU is capped with a big heatsink equipped with dual 6mm heat pipes & cooled by twin 70mm fans. With dimensions of only 174mm by 111mm, it is appropriate for installation in the great majority of PCs; Zotac says that it will fit well in 99% of current cases.

To help you get the most out of the card, Zotac has included the Firestorm tweaking and tuning application. Which provides you control over clock and fan speeds as well as useful system monitoring capabilities. This allows you to customize your preferred performance & noise levels based on your needs and store the adjustments in custom profiles. The card also supports DisplayPort 1.4, HDMI 2.0, and DVI-D.

Performance

This card’s performance is very exceptional for a card that costs only £149. It can spew out frames at well above 60fps on high settings and even Ultra quality settings at acceptable speeds at the 1080p for which it is built. It easily outperforms the older GTX 950 while using less electricity and being more system compatible.

In Thief at 1080p at High resolution, the card can manage an average frame rate of 68 fps and a very enjoyable 56 fps with the quality pushed all the way up to Ultra. Clearly, it’s not for higher resolution screens or VR, but it’s a fantastic card for 1080p at this price.

Is the GeForce GTX 1050 Ti good in 2022?

The GTX 1050 Ti is still suitable for 1080 esports like CS:GO, Fortnite, League of Legends, Starcraft, Overwatch, and Dota 2 in 2022. This graphics card is utterly useless for playing newer titles released in 2018 or later since it will render less than 30 FPS at normal to low settings.

What is the difference between GTX 1050 Ti and GTX 1050 Ti OC?

In 1080s GPUs, the OC version outperforms the standard card by around 7 frames per second. With a 1050 Ti, you probably wouldn’t be able to max out much in 1080p. However, you should be able to rock 60fps on medium settings. You could get 2-3 extra frames per second with the overclocked version for certain GPUs.

How many monitors can I run with a GTX 1050 Ti?

Geforce GTX 1050 Ti graphics cards only support up to 4 monitors; this is a well-known restriction. To connect more monitors, you will need to purchase an additional graphics card. Multiple monitors might be connected to a single DisplayPort output. That will not get you around the limit.

Conclusion

The GeForce GTX 1050 Ti aims to please 1080p MOBA and MMO enthusiasts, and it succeeds well. The ability to play many of your favorite games at 1080p with medium to high settings is rather impressive, especially given the GTX 1050 Ti’s price point.

The Zotac GeForce GTX 1050 Ti OC Edition is factory overclocked at 1392 MHz core & 1506 MHz GPU boost. In comparison, the GTX 1050 Ti’s standard clock rates are 1290 MHz core & 1392 MHz GPU peak. As a result, you receive even better performance than the standard card. Zotac has also included a dual-fan cooling system to keep things nice and cool.
