Robot vacuums that can mop and sweep have been around for a few years, but there’s a new type in town: Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni that offers a scouring action as part of the cleaning process, allowing them to remove both ground-in stains and surface debris.
The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni, which boasts two rotating mop pads that provides a scouring motion of 180 rotations per minute to assist lift tough stains from hard surfaces, is the newest model to be released by the company. It can vacuum, mop, or do both at the same time. It also has a spot-clean feature for exceptionally nasty areas, making it one of the most hands-off robot vacs we’ve tried so far.
The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni is by far the most costly robot vacuum reviewed so far, costing $1,549 / £1,499. However, when you realize that it can clean floors – cleaning them rather than merely spilling water over them – and that it is also self-cleaning. The price is justified. It’s available straight from Ecovacs or on Amazon. In Australia, it will be published in April.
Ecovacs also sells the Deebot X1 Turbo, which has a self-cleaning base but lacks the self-emptying capability for the dust canister. It costs $1,349 / £1,299 / €1,349 / €1,349 / €1,349 The Deebot X1 Plus. On the other hand, is a self-emptying sweeper and mop that can scrape at up to 600rpm but does not enable automated cleaning and drying of mopping pads. That model costs $1,149, however it is not presently available in the United Kingdom.
The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni, like the majority of robot vacuums on the market, is circular in design and measures 4.3 x 13.6 x 13.6 inches / 10.9 x 34.5 x 34.5cm. It’s somewhat higher than some versions on the marketplace, but it had no trouble navigating under chair legs or under low-clearance furniture.
The silvery and black robovac has a plastic bumper around the top half of the machine. As well as an HD camera to assist it in navigating around your home. It does not, however, rely solely on the camera. There’s also a cliff sensor and a Laser scanning sensor, which is a 3.14in / 7.9cm wide by 0.79in / 2cm high disc that rests on the top of the machine, right below the power button. This combination allows the robot to clean up to three distinct levels in your house in a logical sequence. While remaining aware of where it is in the cleaning process – all while avoiding falling to the bottom of a flight of steps.
The Deebot X1 Omni robot vacuum has four suction levels, and three degrees of water saturation. A 13.5oz / 400ml dust bin is positioned beneath the robot vacuum’s cover. However, unlike with the iRobot Roomba J7 Plus or the Dream Bot W10, the lid here isn’t hinged. So instead of merely lifting a flap for access, you’ll have to remove the entire lid. A 2.7fl oz / 80ml water tank is also installed within the shop vac for mopping. When you flip the Deebot X1 Omni over, you’ll see a swivel wheel at the front as well as two extra wheels on either side of the device to enable the robot vacuum to navigate your home. Like other robot vacs, such as the Dream Bot L10 Pro.
The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni was really simple to set up. Appreciated that basic walk instructions were placed on the base station’s lid, saving us from having to sift through the handbook. The robot was able to capture every single particle of small dust, cookie crumbs, bigger debris even cereal from hard floors even on the lowest suction setting. However, the side brush had a propensity to distribute material farther around the room, making the vacuuming procedure take a little longer than we’d intended.
The Deebot X1 Omni was also capable of sucking up most small dust and bigger debris on soft floor surfaces. While higher power settings were necessary for the thorough cleaning of carpets. Delighted that Deebot X1 can be programmed to automatically raise the strength of suction when it detects carpet, going from level one, named Quiet, to level three, designated Power.
The Deebot X1 vacuumed and mopped in a methodical manner around our home. This combination also insured that the robot vacuum did not collide with any furnishings. When it came to dodging any obstructions in its route, though, it was a different thing altogether. It tried to suck up a charging cord as well as a sock. That the Deebot X1 frequently gets stuck while transitioning from thick-pile carpet to hard floors. Requires us to physically reposition the robot vacuum and repeat the cleaning operation. The mop function of the Deebot X1 Omni does more than just wet floors; it is one of the few robot vacs on the market that can also scrub them.
The Ecovacs app, like many of the companion applications for robot vacuums available right now, is straightforward to use. When you connect the robot vacuum to your Wi-Fi, you may select between entering the cleaning menu and using the built-in camera.
As it cleans, the Deebot X1 Omni produces a map of your home. You can then divide into separate rooms and zones, which helps to focus on certain areas instead of your entire house. With the capacity to save three separate maps, this robovac is great for multi-level houses.
You can even assign floor material and add furnishings to the map, such as TV stands or beds. The Deebot X1 Omni, unlike many other robot vacuums, isn’t connected with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. But that’s and has its own voice assistant, YIKO, that can start or halt a cleaning of floors, rooms, or around specified things like the sofa. YIKO – created in partnership with Google – showed to be quite responsive for beginning and pausing a clean. As well as altering the suction level. You may also modify the suction level of the robovac as well as the water content of the mopping pads, and plan cleans using the app.
According to Ecovacs, the Deebot X1 Omni can run for up to two hours and fifty mins between charges; however, this is in Quiet mode. The robot vacuum lasted one hour and ten minutes on maximum power before recharging. However, this was enough to do a thorough cleaning of a three-bedroom, two-story house.
When the battery falls below 15%, the robot vacuum will automatically return to the docking station, and if the cleaning isn’t finished. According to Ecovacs, the robot vacuum will acquire the very same Smart Continuous Cleaning function as the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8+ in the future which will charge to a level adequate to finish the task. The Deebot X1 Omni takes around 6 and a half hours to reach recharge, and there was a visible battery level, with a percentage, evident when accessing the app.
The Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni is a strong robot vacuum that catches small dust and heavier debris as well as cleans hard surfaces of ground-in filth. The docking station is somewhat large. But it cleans the mopping pads for you as well as empties the dust canister and replenishes the water tank. The Deebot X1 Omni isn’t as clever as some competing models. Plowing through obstacles like charging wires and socks rather than avoiding them, and it’s also more pricey.
