With everyone enjoying the new mode of entertainment, Podcasts are gaining quite a lot of popularity. With this surge, Apple is not left behind and has its own Podcast app to stream and download shows. Here is everything you need to know about Apple Podcasts.

What are Apple Podcasts?

Podcasts are some digital audio files that can be downloaded to your device. Generally, they are present in the form of series typically available as a series and the subscribers get the notification for new episodes. You can enjoy great content from around the world just by sitting in your room.

Find, subscribe and download Apple Podcasts

You can search for a podcast and subscribe to it from your iPhone or iPad in Apple podcasts. Here is how you can do it:

  • Open the Podcasts app on your iOS device to access different shows.
  • In the Search Menu, type the name of your desired podcast. You can find the search tab at the bottom of the page.
  • Once you find the podcast, click on it.
  • Tap Subscribe.
  • When you open the desired podcast, you will find the download button next to the episode name.
  • Click on the download option to start downloading.
  • If you want to directly listen to it without downloading, you can simply click on the episode for it to start playing.

Share your favourite podcasts in Apple Podcasts

When you listen to a good podcast, the first thing that comes to your mind is to share it. You can share it with your friends and family. Here is how to share your favourite podcast on Apple podcasts:

  1. Open the Podcasts app on your iOS device to access different shows.
  2. Open your favourite podcast and tap on the “three dots” present next to the name of the podcast.
  3. From the pop-up menu, click on Share, the last option.
  4. Select the method of sharing. You can either share an episode or the complete series.

Sync your podcasts on your devices

Once you download the podcast on one device, you might want to sync it on all your devices to listen to it anytime anywhere. Here is how to sync your downloaded episodes:

  1. Navigate to the Settings app from your device.
  2. Scroll down to find the Podcasts app.
  3. Switch on the switch to allow syncing for the app.

Setting a refresh rate for your podcasts

Here is how you can set a refresh date for your podcasts:

  • Open the Settings app on your device.
  • Scroll down to find the Podcasts app and click on it.
  • In the Podcasts tab, click on Refresh Every.
  • You can then select the frequency of refreshing your podcasts. You can set it from 1 hour to weekly.

Turn off delete played episodes for the podcasts

Sometimes you might want to turn off the option to delete the episodes that have been played once. You might want to listen to it again later on. So here is how to turn off the option:

  • Navigate to the settings app from your device.
  • Scroll down to find the Podcasts app and click on it.
  • In the Podcasts tab, switch off the Delete Played Episodes if it is turned on. This is at the bottom of the page.

You can then manually delete any episode you seem fit after listening without the worry of autodeletion.

Turn off notifications for your subscribed podcasts

Sometimes too many notifications from a single app can keep your device constantly buzzing. To stop this, you can turn off the notifications for your podcasts from the settings feature. Here is how to do so:

  • Navigate to the settings app from your device.
  • Scroll down to find the Podcasts app and click on it.
  • From the Podcasts tab, click on the Notifications option to switch it off.
