Hey there, gamers and comic enthusiasts! The world of Mortal Kombat 1 just got a whole lot more exciting with the latest addition to our family – Peacemaker! Yes, you read that right, the iconic anti-hero, known for his questionable peacekeeping methods and unforgettable dance, is stepping into the arena, and he’s ready to shake things up in his own unique style.
NetherRealm Studios has just dropped the first gameplay trailer showcasing Peacemaker in action, and it’s everything fans could have hoped for. Starting with Chris Smith’s iconic dance from his titular show, Peacemaker jumps straight into the fight against Fire God Liu Kang. The trailer gives us a glorious taste of John Cena’s performance as the character, blending brawling with gunplay in a way that emphatically states Peacemaker is not just a long-range fighter.
The Mortal Kombat 1 trailer reveals that Peacemaker isn’t shy about getting up close and personal, preferring to throw punches rather than rely solely on his pistol. He’s also seen wielding his shield to launch Liu Kang into the air and summoning his pet eagle, Eagly, to swoop down on his enemies. And let’s not forget about his helmet, which he uses to create a shield, blast opponents away, and even “torpedo” himself towards his foes.
The gameplay trailer also treats us to a peek at Peacemaker’s Fatality – a high-speed jetpack flight that tears his opponent in half, followed by a sonic boom that leaves behind nothing but a skeletal torso. Talk about making a statement!
In addition to Peacemaker, the trailer confirms that Janet Cage will be joining the Kameo roster in March. This female version of Johnny Cage, seen at the end of the story mode, is sure to bring her own flair to the fight.
Peacemaker, the second comic book character to join the ranks after Omni-Man, has quickly become a fan-favorite thanks to his appearances in The Suicide Squad and his own show. And now, he’s ready to take on Mortal Kombat 1’s New Era of Peace with his formidable moveset, signature humor, and, of course, those legendary dance moves.
Peacemaker will be available in early access on February 28 for those who own the Kombat Pack or the Premium Edition of the game, with a full launch following on March 6. Plus, with cross-play support being added on the same day, players across PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S can enjoy battling it out with or against Peacemaker.
And if you’re curious to try out Mortal Kombat 1, including getting a feel for Peacemaker’s moves, mark your calendars for March 7-10. A free trial on PS5 and Xbox consoles will grant access to the base roster of fighters, all online modes, Towers, Johnny Cage’s Invasions, and the first 2 chapters of the story.
So, get ready to join Peacemaker and the rest of the Mortal Kombat 1 crew for some high-octane, dance-filled action. It’s going to be a blast!
