It is planned to be the eighth Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) television series created by Marvel Studios. It continues the storylines from the franchise’s movies. The primary author is Bradstreet.
Nick Fury has always been a supporting figure in the MCU. But in the forthcoming MCU live-action series Secret Invasion for Disney+, he will finally receive the limelight. This show was also announced at the Disney Investor Day along with Ironheart, which will be a part of Phase 5 and tie into the overall plot of the Infinity Saga.
The ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe has now beyond the realm of traditional film. Marvel Studios started capturing the small screen in early 2021. Introducing the shows like WandaVision, The Falcon, and the Winter Soldier. The expedition continues with established MCU characters (including Loki and Hawkeye) and fresh faces. A well-liked Marvel Comics miniseries called Secret Invasion will be one of these new directions.
Nick Fury last appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Spider-Man: Far From Home’s post-credits sequence. He was on board a spacecraft with several Skrulls, a race of shape-shifting aliens originally shown in Captain Marvel. Skrulls will be a significant part of Secret Invasion.
In the comic books, the Skrulls invade the human population and assume various identities, including that of some of the most well-known heroes from the Marvel world. With Fury now collaborating with Talos and the Skrulls, Marvel will need to make some adjustments to fit the MCU, but overall, anticipate the narrative to stay the same. That suggests that certain well-known Marvel characters may have been someone else the entire time.
The Secret Invasion storyline hasn’t gotten much attention from Marvel/Disney. According to the official longline, the series “follows a group of Skrulls that had invaded all aspects of Earth,” which was made public when the show was formally launched in December 2020. The popular comic book series by author Brian Michael Bendis served as inspiration. The New Avengers, The Mighty Avengers, The Young Avengers, and other heroes learned that the Skrulls had been successfully disguising themselves on Earth for years in the eight-issue comic book series.
Fury will be brought to life on screen in Secret Invasion by Samuel L. Jackson. By the way, this will be the character’s 12th appearance in an MCU production. Ben Mendelsohn, who previously portrayed Talos in Captain Marvel and Spider-Man: Far from Home, will come back as the unexpectedly compassionate Skrull. According to Deadline, Cobie Smulders will also reprise her role as Maria Hill. Without Maria Hill on his side, Nick Fury is impossible.
Following the Oscar nomination for Once Night in Miami, Variety announced that the movie’s lead, Kingsley Ben-Adir, will join the Secret Invasion cast. Although his exact role is unclear, rumors indicate he will play a villain. Additionally, Carmen Ejogo has joined the cast. Another Oscar winner is currently entering the fight. Olivia Colman is in discussions to appear in the show in an unnamed role.
Additionally, a few new cast members have joined Secret Invasion. According to The Hollywood Reporter, they include Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones, Olivia Colman from The Crown, Killian Scott, and Christopher McDonald. Their personalities are not yet fully developed. In addition, the identity of the main antagonist, who Kinglsey Ben-Adir will play, has not yet been revealed. In a subsequent interview with Jimmy Fallon in July 2021, Emilia confirmed her casting. She said, “I’m afraid already.
“The first Marvel employees I interacted with were from their security department, and I am sure a guy is standing outside my house. I swear he’s hiding in a car sitting there for a while.”
There is no set a date for the release of Secret Invasion. The MCU TV series began filming in the UK in September 2021 and was planned to hit theatres sometime in 2022. The series could premiere in late 2022 after principal filming ended in April.
However, Samuel L. Jackson has recently said that new filming would occur in London starting in August. Jackson spoke with TV host Jimmy Kimmel and stated: “I’m not finished, no. At some point in August, I’ll return to London, where I have work to complete for Secret Invasion and The Marvels.”
DanielRPK and Greatphase, two MCU insiders, have claimed that a four-month shoot will include reshoots for Secret Invasion and The Marvels, which will eventually be the 33rd MCU film in the Marvel movies in the chronological guide, will begin soon.
In conclusion, Disney Plus won’t likely release Secret Invasion until early to mid-2023. Before we get the specific release date, it can take some time and whether it will be split into two parts because several other Marvel TV projects are in development, including Loki season 2. We hope that formal information on those fronts will be revealed at Marvel Studios’ big Comic-Con panel on Saturday, July 23.
In line with past live-action MCU projects, Kevin Feige assured Collider that there would be six episodes of the secret invasion.

The plots from Captain Marvel and Far From Home should be continued in Secret Invasion, as was already established. The plot of WandaVision, in which a Skrull contacted Monica Rambeau/Photon (Teyonah Parris) in the series finale, may also be continued. The anonymous Skrull informed Rambeau that Monica’s mother’s “friend” wished to see her. And many fans have speculated that Nick Fury is this “friend” in question.
Since this subplot wasn’t addressed before the conclusion of the series, Rambeau could make a brief cameo in Secret Invasion. Rambeau will undoubtedly play a significant part besides Captain Marvel and Ms. Marvel in The Marvels, but it would be interesting to see if she also appeared in Secret Invasion.
Other upcoming MCU projects should be impacted by Secret Invasion as well. According to Mashable, Feige disclosed that Secret Invasion would have a clear connection to forthcoming MCU films during Marvel’s presentation at Disney’s 2020 Investor Day. As we previously stated, the Marvels may be one, but other films like Ant-Man 3 and Fantastic Four might also be impacted.
The thrilling miniseries The Secret Invasion will feature several well-known actors and real-life figures. Additionally, the previous characters have always played supporting roles, but their identities are now taking center stage in this series. The series star is Nick Fury, the soul of the MCU.
