The V-Moda Remix is possibly the most attractive speaker I’ve ever seen. The Remix is a way to start a conversation and a showcase, with anodized aluminum and a detachable, C-shaped alloy case called a C-Shell. If gleaming metal isn’t your style, the speaker’s base model is available in gorgeous black vegan leather. It’s the best Bluetooth speaker for all those who care about design.

Design
The device is constructed of black plastic on the sides and black 3D-printed fiber on the front. The 2 rectangular “Remix Rings” which assist the optional sides to fit properly on the speaker are housed in a tiny groove on both sides of the aluminum case.
A wide rectangular slot is hollowed out in the top again for a row of exquisite soft-touch controls (Volume Down, Power, Multifunction, Volume Up, and Pair). The stylized V insignia below the buttons is my favorite accent. Another rectangular hole appears on the back of the C-Shell, this time revealing the black metallic frame. In the lower-left corner, there are a gleaming V-Moda logo, as well as a USB Type-C port, and plugs again for VAMP/Aux Out & Aux-In.
The Remix is larger and heavier than the Fugoo Style, weighing 1.9 pounds & measuring 8.1 x 2.5 x 2.5 inches (1.1 pounds, 7.4 x 2.9 x 2.3 inches). The Fugoo has an IPX67 designation, which means it’s both waterproof and dustproof, which the Remix lacks.
Customization
It might not be a V-Moda without some level of personalization. But, starting with the C-Shell, the firm has truly gone all out for Remix. If you don’t want to use vegan leather or metal, a C-Shell made of 3D-printed fiber in white or black with 2 design options is available for $150. The front grille can also be customized with three different patterns and two different materials: fiber ($40) & steel ($140).
A set of custom sides is also available in 3 different patterns and a variety of mediums, including fiber. You may customize the speaker using premium materials like brass, steel, sterling silver, rhodium, 14k yellow, rose, and white gold, as well as platinum, just like the V-Moda Crossfade Wireless & Crossfade 2 headphones.
Keep in mind that all of this opulence isn’t cheap: the steel option raises the price from $300 to $1,300, and the platinum option raises the price to the Robin-Leach-worthy $370,300. The sky’s the limit (as is your bank account).
The Fugoo Style, while not as lavish as the Remix, does provide some personalization in the case of three distinct jackets: Sport, Tough, and Style. You can change the look of the Fugoo whenever you like for $39 each. If you want to have the speaker much more portable, Fugoo now sells bike mounts ($19.99).
Special Features
V-Moda adds plenty of bells & whistles to a Remix portfolio, not content with merely making a gorgeous speaker. This is the first Bluetooth speaker to include the company’s VAMP technology, which has an integrated headphone amplifier. Headphone amps (25 ohms or above) should be used with audiophile-grade elevated headphones (25 ohms and higher) to produce superior detail, clarity, and dynamic range by supplying more power to drive audio.
Headphone amplifiers, on the other hand, can increase the sound quality of most headphones, if they’re high-end or low-cost. Simply insert your headphones into VAMP/Aux Out connector but you’re ready to go. It’s a fantastic value add when you consider that a headphone amp will cost probably $99 if purchased alone.
With the VAMP, V-Moda didn’t put an end to the high-fidelity party. Because the Remix can play high-resolution audio files (FLAC, ALAC, AIFF, WAV, and DSD), you can listen to Pink Floyd, Kendrick Lamar, and Anita Baker the way they were intended to be heard. It allowed me to get the most from my Tidal Hi-Fi membership.
One remix is wonderful, but I’m a huge believer in the more the merrier approach, and V-Moda seemed to agree. You can daisy-chain additional Remix speakers to achieve even greater quality, just like other rivals in the field. Unfortunately, daisy-chaining requires the speakers to be connected through an audio wire, which eliminates the possibility of a multiroom configuration.
Audio Performance
The low-end theory, more bounce to an ounce — whatever you want to call your bass, this Remix has it. The speaker offered deep low points without drowning out Lamar’s impassioned exhortations on “DNA” thanks to its back wheel bass reflex port.
When I put the Remix on my bed, I could feel the energy through the mattress since the bass was so deep. The Fugoo Style does have a decent amount of bounce, but not nearly as much as the Remix. The Style, on the other hand, had a more expansive soundscape, which allowed the various portions of the music to breathe.
When listening to Chris Stapleton’s “Tennessee Whiskey,”. I could hear the bass guitar strumming on both speakers, but the Remix had a warmer tone. As luscious as the strawberry wine Stapleton writes about, the two-part harmony sounded. On the high end, the comparable metric just on Style was somewhat skewed.
Another thing to remember when listening to a Remix is that it gets loud. This is much louder than just a speaker of this size should be capable of. But it’s how well-balanced the audio is already at a max volume that truly caught me off guard. Whereas other speakers’ highs become screechy and distorted, the Remix maintains everything in check.
Calling Abilities
The Remix performed a great job filling in there as my speakerphone when it wasn’t blasting my kitchen with unexpectedly loud bass. When a phone call came in, pause the audio and also replace it with a lovely ring. I was conversing with my caller after a simple touch of the multifunction button. The majority of calls had crystal-clear audio on both ends, however, my mother did complain about a small echo.
Battery life and Bluetooth
The 3,400-mAH battery in the Remix, according to V-Moda Remix, could last ten hours on a charge. Also if you put the speaker on while you spent the day cleaning flat from top to bottom, including some laundry, the Remix will still pump out the jams.
The Remix has a 33-foot range, comparable to other Bluetooth devices. However, before the sound went out, I was capable of walking 50 feet down the hallway. As quickly you stepped back within range, the sounds resumed.
Conclusion
V-Moda never ceases to dazzle. The Remix produces a powerful, well-balanced sound that rivals speakers twice its size. You also receive a headphone amplifier, which can become your personal audio experience, and you can share your audiophile love by streaming some high-resolution audio to your buddies. If you want to go all out, you can add some beautiful precious metal accessories to your speaker.
This Fugoo Style speaker is available for $89 and provides excellent quality. It’s also dust-, drop-, and waterproof, and the $14.99 sleeves allow for some personalization. If you want to end the party on the road, you can even attach it to your bike. The V-Moda Remix, on the other hand, is hard to match if you’re searching for just a high-end audio performance at a reasonable price.
