Google launches Lyria 3 Pro music generation model

Google Introduces Lyria 3 Pro for Music Generation

In a significant update to its music generation tools, Google has announced the release of Lyria 3 Pro, a more advanced model of its existing Lyria 3 tool. As reported, this innovative tool allows users to create music tracks that extend up to three minutes in length, a substantial improvement from the 30-second tracks that the previous model supported.

Improved Creative Control with Lyria 3 Pro

Apart from the length of the tracks, Lyria 3 Pro also elevates the level of creative control that users can have. It allows them to specify different elements of the track, including but not limited to, intros, verses, choruses, and bridges. This implies that the model has been designed to understand the track structure far better than its predecessor, thereby optimizing the music creation process for the users.

Lyria 3 Pro’s Availability and Access

Google had previously introduced music generation capabilities to the Gemini app with the release of Lyria 3. The Pro version of Lyria is also expected to roll out in the Gemini app, however, it will only be available to the paid subscribers of the application. Furthermore, Google is also extending the Lyria 3 Pro model to its Google Vids video editing app and ProducerAI, a recent acquisition that is an AI-powered music production tool.

Integration with Enterprise Tools

In a bid to expand its reach, Google is integrating the music generation capabilities of Lyria 3 Pro with its enterprise tools. This includes Vertex AI, which is currently in public preview, the Gemini API, and AI Studio. This move signifies Google’s commitment to driving innovation and creativity across different platforms and applications.

Training and Inspiration for Lyria 3 Pro

Google highlighted that the data used to train Lyria 3 Pro model was sourced from its partners, and permissible data from YouTube and Google. The technology giant reassured users that the model does not mimic an artist. However, if users specify an artist in the prompts, the model draws “broad inspiration” from that artist to generate a unique track.

AI Identification in Music

In an era where AI is increasingly used to generate music, Google ensures that all tracks created using Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro are marked with SynthID. This marking is done to indicate that AI was used in the creation of the track. This development comes at a time when music streaming platforms such as Spotify and Deezer have also launched tools to identify AI-generated music and prevent misattribution of music.
