SchoolStatus Attend Update: A New Era in Attendance Tracking
K-12 attendance solutions provider SchoolStatus has announced an exciting expansion to its Attend product. This update introduces flexible, time-based attendance tracking that focuses on measuring missed learning time rather than just full-day absences. The enhancement aims to offer school districts a more comprehensive view of student attendance patterns.
Advanced Attendance Tracking Capabilities
With the updated SchoolStatus Attend, districts can now track attendance by class, based on class time missed, or on a rolling basis to account for students who miss a specified number of days within a defined time period. This flexibility allows the product to support various scheduling formats, including block scheduling and custom timetables that differ from school to school.
Dr. Kara Stern, director of education at SchoolStatus, emphasized the importance of this update, stating, “District leaders shouldn’t have to guess what to focus on. With expanded attendance tracking, they can easily identify which schools benefit from more support, which grade levels they should focus on, and which students need additional help.”
Early Warning Insights and Proactive Communication
Time-based attendance tracking can uncover patterns that might otherwise go unnoticed and enables Attend to report absences more promptly. The platform’s Early Warning Insights feature is particularly noteworthy, as it helps identify students at risk of chronic absenteeism after just 60 days of instruction. By leveraging predictive insights and automated outreach, SchoolStatus aims to support families before attendance issues become chronic. Personalized communications, whether sent by mail or digitally, encourage participation and re-engage families and students.
Stern further commented, “Proactive, systematic intervention works. Our product updates give districts the ability to personalize this outreach at scale without overwhelming staff. Then districts will see real change.”
Positive Reinforcement and Future Updates
Another innovative feature, Positive Notes, allows educators to reinforce positive behavior by sending encouraging messages to families, such as notes recognizing improved attendance. This initiative aims to boost student morale and engagement. SchoolStatus plans to roll out additional updates in the coming months, continuing to enhance the platform’s capabilities.
