Reusable floss avoids disposable plastic for EDC-style design

Introducing Flossr: A Sustainable Solution for Dental Care

Regular flossing is essential for maintaining oral health, but the environmental impact of single-use plastic toothpicks has become a growing concern. A Swedish design team at SNRGY Studios in Gothenburg has devised an innovative alternative: the Flossr, a stylish, durable flosser designed to last a lifetime.

Design and Functionality

The Flossr is crafted from dental-grade stainless steel and features a collapsible pick that holds the floss. This design integrates a spool capable of holding approximately 3 meters of floss within its body, offering months of daily use without needing a separate floss container when traveling. The pick folds neatly into the case, ensuring it remains clean and portable.

Unlike other reusable flossers, the Flossr allows for any brand of floss to be used, adding versatility to its functionality. The lockable wire arm and key ring hole make it easy to carry on the go, an attractive feature for those accustomed to bulkier, battery-powered alternatives.

Environmental Impact and Sustainability

The Flossr addresses the pressing issue of plastic waste by providing a sustainable dental hygiene tool. With its durable construction, it aims to reduce the need for disposable flossers, contributing to a decrease in household waste.

Pricing and Availability

The Flossr is set to retail at $49 USD but is currently available for $34 on Kickstarter, offering the uncoated natural steel finish. For $49, buyers can choose from four colors, including an elegant midnight blue, and receive a protective pouch. Shipping is free worldwide.

You can load months of line into the spool and thread it easily without having to carry a separate supply.

It’s important to note that all crowdfunding campaigns carry a degree of risk. However, SNRGY Studios has a track record of successful Kickstarter projects, having launched and shipped a DIY soldering kit, which garnered support from over 6,000 contributors. If the project proceeds as planned, orders are expected to ship worldwide in January 2027.
