Wispr Flow launches an Android app for AI-powered dictation

Wispr Flow Launches Innovative AI-Powered Dictation App for Android

Artificial Intelligence-powered dictation startup, Wispr Flow, announced the launch of its Android app today, expanding its services to a wider user base. The company initially released its app for Mac and Windows, followed by iOS in June 2025. You can find more about this exciting new release Here.

How does the Android Version Work?

The Android interface is somewhat different; users can access the dictionary through a floating bubble. By holding the bubble, you can dictate your contents, or press once to start, and then press the close button to stop the process. Just like on other platforms, the app not only transcribes your words but also cleans up the filter words and formats the text based on the context of the app and spoken content.

CEO’s Vision for Voice Experience

“Android finally gave us the freedom to build the voice experience we always wanted. Only when the platform gets out of the way can we truly expect voice to replace typing on mobile,” said Tanay Kothari, co-founder and CEO of Wispr Flow. His vision reflects the potential of the AI-powered dictation market and the significant advancements the sector has made.

Support for Over 100 Languages and Enhanced Speed

The Wispr Flow app supports translation in over 100 languages and can work across other apps. The company also announced an infrastructure rewrite that makes dictation 30% faster than before. This development significantly improves the user experience, making the app more efficient and user-friendly.

Unique Offering in the Android Market

While numerous AI-powered dictation apps are available on desktop and iOS, Wispr Flow is one of the few available on Android. This launch puts them in direct competition with Typeless, which introduced an app for the platform last month.

Hinglish Support for Indian Users

In a bid to cater to its diverse user base, the company has also launched a new voice model for Hinglish, a mix of Hindi and English, for people in India who often communicate in a code-mixed way.

“If you’re someone like me, English and Hindi weave together when I’m chatting with family and colleagues back home. This is one of those times when I just had to build something for me: the first voice model to actually support transcription in Hinglish instead of traditional Hindi script,” Kothari explained.

Impressive User Engagement and Funding

Even with the early rollout to select users, Wispr Flow reported that users have spoken over 1.3 million words in English in the last few days. The company’s success is evident in its funding history. In June, the startup raised $30 million in a funding round led by Menlo Ventures. Within a few months, in November, the company secured an additional $25 million in a round led by Notable Capital. To date, Wispr Flow has raised a total of $81 million, and its last round valued the company at an impressive $700 million, according to sources.
