Fubo TV – The new way of streaming live TV and sports!

Share

Live TV services range in price from free to pricey, with Fubo TV at the high end. It’s not cheap, but if you want a lot of HD channels and like to watch sports, it could be the best cable option.

FuboTV began as a soccer-focused service in 2015, but it has since expanded into one of the greatest cable TV options. The Starter Plan, which costs $65 and includes over 120 channels, including major broadcast television networks, as well as 4K streaming for select content, is the cheapest option.

The layout on FuboTV is clean and well-designed, and it includes 250 hours of Cloud DVR. Finally, this FuboTV study concludes that if you’re ready to pay a few additional dollars each month for a more extensive channel guide, it’s the ideal choice for you.

More sports channels are available on fuboTV than on any other live TV streaming service, and the service also offers channels for kids, entertainment, way of life, and politics.

Plans for Fubo TV

FuboTV provides a seven-day free trial of their basic Starter plan, which includes over 120 channels, 250 hours of Cloud DVR storage, and three main streams for $64.99 per month.

The Ultra plan adds the Fubo Plus and Sports Plus packages to the Family plan for $84.99. Each account comes with six profiles, allowing friends and family members to personalize their choices. Fubo subscribers may pay for add-ons like Showtime and Starz on top of one of the subscriptions. There are also a bunch of new add-on packages and premium channels to choose from.

The base plan on Fubo is the same as the ones on YouTube TV and Hulu with Live. Both of those services, as well as Fubo, stream networks in most places.

The interface

The Touchscreen of Fubo is clean and well-designed. Though not nearly as nice as Philo’s UI, the black, grey, and white color scheme is more attractive than YouTube‘s basic, industrial design. The menu is divided into a few tabs. Home, Sports, Shows, Movies, guides, and Recordings are the tabs on the web. On mobile, the Shows and Movies categories have been merged under Entertainment, and Recordings has been renamed My Fubo.

Live TV, 4K on Demand, Live Sports, Popular Shows, and Popular Movies are all parts of the Home tab. The Sports page displays all of the games that will be broadcast that day or in the future. Popular titles and on-demand content are featured in the Shows and Movies category.

The search tool on FuboTV is quick, with results appearing as you enter, however, it’s not as broad as YouTube TV or even Philo. They provide you with a preview of forthcoming episodes and allow you to record the show. The playback window also has the standard controls.

DVR – Digital video recorders

The shortage of Cloud DVR storage used to be one of Fubo’s biggest complaints. However, some of the ideas have changed as a result of a recent package update. The Family Plan now includes 250 hours. However, both YouTube TV and Philo provide limitless storage.

Fubo TV, like Sling, lets you remove recordings. However, it only lets you remove 50 hours for free before charging $5 per month for 200 hours. The Recordings page on Fubo provides a nice tracker for keeping track of how much DVR space you’re using.

Video Quality of Fubo TV

Based on the channel and program, FuboTV can handle up to 1080p. The majority of the stuff I saw was only accessible in 720p resolution.

Limited 4K events are also available on Fubo, but only on devices that can stream 4K video, such as the Apple TV 4K, Chromecast Ultra, FireTV Stick 4K, Roku Premiere, and Android phones with HDR10 displays.

It is not possible to record 4K material. Neither of the live TV services currently offer 4K streaming. While the other companies do not specify, Philo provides 720p streaming and 1080p on-demand video.

 Availability and platforms

FuboTV may be found on a number of different platforms, including:

Web browsers (Chrome, Safari, Firefox), Most iPhones and iPads (iOS 10 and later), Most Android phones and tablets (OS 5.0 and later), Apple TV (4th gen and later), Roku (model 3600X and later), Samsung Smart TVs, Fire TV (all models), Vizio Smartcast TVs, All Chromecast devices, Xbox consoles.

The PlayStation 4 is the only standard streaming device that isn’t present (which has Hulu with Live TV and YouTube TV).

Content and channels

The channel list on Fubo is huge. FuboTV, the most detailed of the higher-priced streaming options, contains almost all local networks as well as major cable networks. They included Disney-owned networks including ABC and ESPN in the summer of 2020 but removed Turned-owned stations like CNN and TNT. A&E networks are also absent from Fubo.

MTV, Comedy Central, and Nickelodeon, all owned by Viacom, are available on Fubo. Two premium stations and many packages targeted toward various hobbies, particularly minor sports, are among the add-ons. MLB Network + MLB strike zone, as well as the NHL Network, was recently added to the package.

Here are some of the Fubo add-on packages available:

Showtime ($10.99), AMC Premiere ($4.99), $10.99 for Sports Plus (NFL Red Zone, NBA TV, Tennis Channel, GolTV), $11.99 for Fubo Cycling, $5.99 for International Sports Plus (Zona Futbol, Fox Soccer Plus), $4.99 for Adventure Plus (Outdoor Channel, Sportsman Channel, Outside TV), $7.99 for Latino Plus, $7.99 for Rai Italia, $14.99 for Portuguese Plus, $4.99 for Entretenimiento Plus, $5.99 for Fubo Extra (Cooking Channel, Game Show Network, Logo, TeenNick).

Fubo also has original content, which is available on two of its competitors: YouTube TV and Hulu With Live TV. These services are similarly priced and include original programming. That’s not to argue Fubo should join the originals fray — there’s already too much out there — but does make the high price tag a little less sensible.

Conclusion

Fubo is a good option for cable subscribers who want to cut the cord on cable. Although it used to be one of the most costly streaming services available, competitors have since increased their prices to meet that $65 per month family plan. None of the three streamers is perfect; they all lack something, whether it’s specific channels or sufficient DVR storage.

The Family plan comes with a lot of channels and storage, as well as add-on flexibility. If you want to save money, try Sling or Philo, but keep in mind that you won’t get access to as many networks. However, if your favorite channels are exclusively available on Fubo, it might be the best cable design and arrangement for you.
