Although the iPhone 14 Pro is reported to include a 48-megapixel camera and do away with the controversial display notch, but can’t say let down by Apple’s upcoming top device. That’s not just because it’ll almost surely be a phone that leans more toward evolution than a revolution regarding next-generation technology and design. But also for a much more particular reason. And the zoom camera hasn’t received any significant upgrades.

Apple, being Apple, hasn’t even suggested that a new iPhone is in the works. Much less revealed any information about its camera capabilities. However, the rumor mill consistently produces enough knowledge to provide those who already follow the smartphone industry with a good understanding of the potential features and specifications of the iPhone 14 Pro.

The above-mentioned reports are joined by a new A16 Bionic chipset and an enhanced selfie camera, but there hasn’t been a peep regarding a new telephoto lens. Therefore, it appears that Apple will continue to use the 12MP 3x optical zoom telephoto camera installed on the iPhone 13 Pro.

Scale and darkness

People believe the iPhone 13 Pro is the best video camera phone. We were forced to use digital zoom because no optical zoom range above 3x produced less-than-sharp results. Look below.

We feel like the iPhone 13 Pro is falling behind. And it appears that iPhone 14 Pro will follow suit. People already have the 4x optical zoom Pixel 6 Pro and the 10x optical zoom Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra. The telephoto lens on the iPhone 13 Pro gives excellent results. Still, there are moments when It feels like it can’t capture the image.

Of course, Apple might be able to use image signal processing and the alleged A16 Bionic in a clever way to add a telephoto lens to the iPhone 14 Pro. However, we are ready for the iPhone 14 Pro to fall short in this aspect without updated technology and another optical zoom.

Periscope

Here's Why The iPhone 14 Pro Might Be A Major Letdown!

For the iPhone 14 Pro, many resources prefer Apple to use a periscope camera. By mounting the camera sensor on the side of the device and using prisms to focus light from the lens onto the sensor. More powerful photo enlargement is possible without adding to the gadget’s thickness. But it was recently disproved after being briefly forecasted for the iPhone 14 lineup. At the moment, we are hoping to see a periscope camera in the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

This is disappointing because the iPhone 14 Pro should be able to compete with the Galaxy S22 Ultra and enhance the video experience—at least for the videos that you enjoy making. In addition, the 2020 Oppo Find X2 Pro had an excellent 5x optical zoom; not sure why it was deleted later.

Since iPhone cameras and video recorders continue to amaze new generations of users, Apple has long supported these features. However, the performance of the primary and ultrawide cameras is so strong. It is difficult to identify the significant changes between the iPhone 13 and iPhone 12 ranges, let alone to say that they stand head and shoulders above the top Android phones.

Zoom and gloom

Here's Why The iPhone 14 Pro Might Be A Major Letdown!

Unfortunately, the 3x zoom of the telephoto iPhone 13 Pro didn’t allow you to get close enough. Switching to a digital zoom gave you the necessary range. But the resulting images were less clear and more resembled watercolor paintings. This was even more annoying when the heron suddenly dove into a group of nearby reeds and came out with a screeching mouse.

We think the iPhone 13 Pro lags when the Pixel 6 Pro has a 4x optical zoom, and the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra offers a 10x optical zoom; it appears that the iPhone 14 Pro will follow suit.

Of course, Apple may increase the iPhone 14 Pro’s telephoto capabilities with some ingenious image. Signal processing and the rumored A16 Bionic processor. However, I’m prepared for the iPhone 14 Pro to fall short in the absence of updated technology and a larger optical zoom.

Does iPhone 14 Pro look different?

iPhone 14 Pro variants have a few minor differences in screen sizes. But you won’t notice them in regular use on the Pro versions. The camera bumps will be a little broader to accommodate the 48-megapixel camera that Apple is including. Not many design modifications will be made to standard iPhone 14 models.

When iPhone 14 Pro will come?

Trial manufacturing of the iPhone 14 series has started, and commercial production is expected to begin in August 2022. iPhone 14 series might get launched on September 13 of this year. Online 3D models of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max have been made available by Madmix.

What charger will the iPhone 14 Pro use?

The 2022 iPhone 14 models will still have a Lightning port, and Apple will not likely switch to USB-C until at least 2023. In that case, the iPhone 15 models would adopt a USB-C port unless Apple postpones its current plans.

Conclusion

We still don’t know much about the iPhone 14 series. Based on the few leaks and some informed guesswork. We can say that this year’s Pro model will provide some significant advancements over the non-Pro. It was somewhat difficult to justify getting the Pro with the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series unless you wanted that telephoto lens. The Pro might justify its price increase in 2022.
