When the iPhone 12 was released with MagSafe. people misunderstood the use of such a feature. When it first came out, it was just the Apple MagSafe Charger and MagSafe wallet. But it’s become one of those things.
Mophie, a company known for its power products, has just created a new portable iPhone stand that uses MagSafe to keep your phone in place. It also folds up into a small package that you can take with you everywhere you go because it’s portable.
The mophie Portable Magnetic Stand is available both in-person and online from mophie or the Apple Store. There is just one color option: black. The price is $40 at the retail level.
While mophie is most known for its charging and power bank accessories, it appears that the company is spreading out into other areas. The mophie Portable Magnetic Stand is a folding stand with magnets that holds your iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 in place. This product, unlike the rest of the mophie line, does not supply electricity to charge your mobile.
The mophie Portable Magnetic Stand comes in the shape of a long pill with a metal hinge in the center that allows it to be folded in half when you try to fold it. And there’s a little leather patch with the mophie logo put in.
Because this is a MagSafe stand, there is a magnetic puck on top with the mophie logo in the middle. Whether you’re using one of the top MagSafe-compatible cases or not, it has a solid grip on your compatible iPhone. It also works with your iPhone in both portrait and landscape mode. Making it ideal for FaceTime video chats or simply viewing movies. A fold in the rigid fabric material shows where you may change the viewing angle to suit your needs.
Simply remove your iPhone from the magnetic puck when you’re finished. You’ll need to use two hands to get your phone off because it has a strong grip and there’s no weight at the base. Then just fold it up and store it in your laptop bag or purse. And take this handy little stand with you everywhere you go!
When the mophie Portable Magnetic Stand is meant for mobility and ease. I discovered a few flaws while trying it. For one thing. It’s very unsteady since it’s made of cloth. This means that if you want to push and prod your iPhone while it’s mounted to the stand, you should expect a lot of movement. This might be due to the weight of my iPhone 13 Pro, but it’s simply something I’ve noticed when using it.
Another thing I’ve observed is that when you first get the stand, it feels really rigid. While it appears to improve a bit with time when you open and shut the stand. It still doesn’t sit well with me. However, this may be a matter of personal choice.
I also noted that after two efforts at fully opening the stand all the way, that is, having it flat, a piece of the metal hinge broke off. I was able to replace it. But for something billed as “luxury,” having a component fall out from just opening is the polar opposite of that.
Finally, this isn’t the cheapest stand available. However, it doesn’t charge your iPhone. Mophie normally charges a premium for its products, and this portable stand is no different. To be honest. I’m not very impressed with the mophie Portable Magnetic Stand. I enjoy mophie’s power accessories, but this isn’t one of their greatest.
Stands are among the many excellent MagSafe accessories available. Check out the STM MagPod if you’re looking for a MagSafe stand that can also serve as a tripod or a short selfie stick. It also has a lot of angles and configurations to choose from. And while it’s not as small as the mophie Portable Magnetic Stand, it’s still rather little. It should fit into a backpack or similar carrying case. And it serves as a nice enough photographic tool in a situation.
Consider the MOFT MagSafe Snap-On Phone Stand and Wallet if you want a stand that can also serve as a wallet and a phone grip in a hurry.
It unfolds into two halves, one of which serves as the base and the other of which articulates with a built-in magnetic mount. As of now, MagSafe is compatible with all iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models.
The magnet is unusually thick, however, we suspect this is due to a desire to match the thickness of the bottom hinge rather than need. The top and bottom layers are parallel when closed, separated by the hinge and magnet.
The bottom hinge is visible, and both hinges are metal. On each of these hinges, Mophie got the tension just right. They’re sturdy and can easily support your phone’s weight. Even the colossal iPhone 13 Pro Max is a beast. They may both move freely at the same time. They have the same smooth, solid feel as the ones on our MacBook Pro. This keeps it closed in your bag and gives it a nice click when closed.
Despite the stand’s strength, there is still some movement. If you try to use your phone while it’s on the stand, it’ll bounce about. As your phone returns to rest after a brief tap, it will bounce for 3-5 seconds. Too much bouncing becomes irritating, as the bounces appear to become louder with each additional tap. If the phone moves beneath you, you may possibly tap in the wrong area. That’s probably a lot of comments on a trivial issue because picking up the phone when you need to use it isn’t all that tough.
If you want:
If you’re searching for a portable stand for your iPhone with MagSafe. The mophie Portable Magnetic Stand is a decent option. It folds up small enough to fit in most bags, yet it has a strong magnetic grip on your iPhone. It’s also ideal for video chats or just viewing movies because you can use it in portrait or landscape mode.
However, the mophie Portable Magnetic Stand is rather unsteady, at least with the iPhone 13 Pro due to the fabric material use. It’s not as sturdy as other alternatives, and it’s a little stiff when you open it up. My device also had some quality faults. Such as the end piece on the hinge pulling out when the stand was fully opened. Given the price and the way. it’s billed as luxury. It doesn’t feel like a high-quality product, especially from mophie. Plus, it’s just a MagSafe stand with no charging capability. So that’s all about this mophie product.
