Blink Indoor Cam helps you to keep eye on your home!

Putting together an indoor home security system used to be a time-consuming process that required power equipment, miles of cable, and hours of labor. Such times, thankfully, are no longer with us. Today, there are a variety of security cameras that are simple to install and maintain, broadcasting HD content from your house directly to your smartphone for a convenient sense of security.

Short Review

The Blink Indoor is one such product, a wire-free security camera with a minimalist design that will appeal to those searching for the easiest setup possible. Its major selling point, like the Blink Outdoor, is that it can run for up to two years on a single pair of AA batteries, removing the need for any regular charging activities. It is not weather-proof, and can only be used indoors, unlike Blink’s other wire-free home security camera.

That said, it gives you complete freedom of placement, from bookshelf to windowsill and everywhere in between, which distinguishes it from other cable-laden security cameras like the Blink Mini, as well as competitors like Eufy, Wyze, and even Amazon‘s other home security brand, Ring.

The Blink Indoor includes a Full HD resolution and a 110-degree field of view as well as infrared night vision and other useful features like motion alerts and Alexa with a built-in speaker for two-way communication and the supplied Sync Module 2. This includes a USB drive for local storage, you’ve got yourself an enticing combination for $79.99 / £79.99.

For those looking for a simple inside-home security camera, the Blink Indoor is ideal. This provides a hassle-free solution for keeping an eye on items around the house, or those who want the flexibility of a wire-free gadget that can be moved in an instant.

Price

The Blink Indoor Cam is an excellent choice for anyone seeking a low-cost indoor camera with clear video and effective motion detection. It uses Alexa voice commands and IFTTT applets triggered by third-party smart devices, and it records video when motion detects and saves it to the cloud (if you have a subscription).

You can also use a USB drive to store your videos locally by connecting them to the hub. For $79.99, it’s a great deal.

The Blink Indoor is as simple as it gets, but that’s not a bad thing. The last thing you want to call attention to is a security camera, and its rounded square white appearance is pleasingly modest.

With its plastic construction, it feels durable and substantial in the hands, and the included mount is simple to install even for novice DIYers. Though we chose to simply put it up on a bookshelf. The mount is also durable enough to keep the camera pointing in the desired direction.

One thing to keep in mind is that, because of its plastic body, it is susceptible to scratching and scuffing. This won’t be an issue in real life, but it didn’t take long for minor (cosmetic) scratches to show after throwing them in our bag on our trip.

On the back of the Blink Indoor Cam, there’s a huge screw that may be loosened with the provided tool. This allows the back of the camera to easily take out, revealing the battery compartment and QR code. This is required to connect your camera to the app (more on that in a bit).

Performance

The Full HD camera on the Blink Outdoor gives a crisp image that is sharp enough to recognize intruders’ faces. In low light, the stream automatically converts to infrared night vision, which reduces the color to a monochrome display. Things stay apparent despite this, albeit items further away lose some detail.

As a result of the wide-angle lens, there’s some distortion around the edges of the image. But this is to be expected and isn’t a major issue. The Blink Indoor’s day and night performances are both outstanding. Allows you to relax knowing that everything is being captured in sufficient detail to be helpful.

The Blink Indoor Cam offers a motion-tracking feature that can warn you when movement detects, in addition to the picture quality. The application allows you to construct dead zones, which may be more useful for an outdoor camera coping with passing automobiles and overgrown tree branches. With an inside camera like this. You’ll almost certainly want motion tracking across the full possible area to ensure that any intruders detect.

However, if you have a rambunctious cat, things get complicated. As the Blink Indoor is unable to distinguish between people and animals, making it is tough to decide when to take motion alerts seriously.

You may also ask Alexa to show you your Blink camera(s) on a larger screen. If you have an Amazon smart display, such as the Amazon Echo Show 10 or any Fire TV device, you can use it. This works nicely, but unfortunately (and predictably, considering that Blink owns by Amazon). This feature isn’t interoperable with other smart platforms such as Google Home. If you incline, you can use IFFT to come up with a solution.

In a little time, I had the Blink Indoor Cam up and operating. I already had the app installed. But you’ll need to download it and create an account if this is your first Blink gadget.

Firstly, I started by downloading and installing the Sync Module. I scanned the QR code on the module, created a system name, and plugged it in, following the on-screen directions. The LEDs began glowing blue and solid green after a few seconds. Then I tapped Discover Device, connected the module to my Wi-Fi network, and waited for it to update the firmware.

After that, I removed the camera’s back panel installed the batteries, and tapped the + icon in the app’s upper right corner. From the selection, I chose Blink Wireless Camera, scanned the QR code in the camera’s battery compartment, and replaced the panel. The software took a few seconds to recognize the camera. It was good to go after a simple firmware upgrade.

As previously indicated, the Blink Indoor Cam’s notable feature is its up to two-year battery life. This is provided by a simple pair of standard AA batteries. While the exact time may vary depending on how often motion detects and how often you use the live view feature. We see no reason why the Blink Indoor can’t live up to its stamina-centric claims after a few months with it in our house.

When it’s time to replace them. You may always go with rechargeable options to avoid having to buy more batteries in the future, making it a more environmentally friendly alternative.

Conclusion

The Blink Indoor Cam is an easy-to-use home security camera that records clear Full HD video both day and night. It offers plenty of flexibility thanks to its AA battery power supply. This allows you to place it anywhere and move it around easily. This included Sync Module 2 provides local storage for the video clips, which is a nice bonus. Although a cloud storage subscription is also available if you prefer. Alexa support appreciates, and while motion detection is available, it does not distinguish between people and pets.
