Treyarch created the first-person shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. You can play through three distinct game modes in this well-known Call of Duty franchise iteration. One is your typical multiplayer, which offers many game modes and distinctive characters with game-changing powers. Second, you can enjoy the Blackout battle royale mode, which lets you drop alongside 99 other players on a big map to see who survives. The Zombies game, which takes you on many maps through various eras like the early 1900s, is the last option. In this mode, your goal is to survive as long as you can amid ruthless zombie hordes.

Release
Rockstar Games’ highly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2 release was supposed to be why Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 came out a month earlier. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 became available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Microsoft Windows on October 12, 2018. Since Call of Duty 2, all subsequent releases have taken place in November, making this the first Call of Duty game to be launched in October. Similar to earlier versions, gamers who pre-ordered gave the game access to the private beta for the aforementioned multiplayer component.
Gameplay
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 features cooperative first-person shooting. Black Ops 4 is the first game in the Call of Duty franchise without a typical single-player campaign.
Multiplayer
Specialists, distinct army characters with unique skills and characteristics, are back in Black Ops 4’s multiplayer. Ten Specialists are present in the game at launch. Six of them are returnees from Black Ops III: Ruin, Prophet, Battery, Seraph, Nomad, and Firebreak. Whereas the other four are brand-new characters. In contrast to Black Ops III, the game only permits two different Specialists per squad, emphasizing the function of each character.
Zombies
The cooperative multiplayer option for Black Ops 4 is Zombies, which is back. A more excellent range of personalization options is available in the game mode, enabling more unique play styles. The game’s mechanics can be altered via “Custom Mutations,” which offer over 100 different options. Moreover, for things like overall complexity, zombie speed, health, damage, and more.
In keeping with past Black Ops games’ practice of including one zombie’s map with characters played by celebrities, the map “Dead of the Night” has a celebrity cast.
Blackout
Blackout, a battle royale game feature in Black Ops 4, replaces the campaign mode in the game. The Black Ops fighting style is used in this mode, which also has the most extensive map ever included in a Call of Duty game. Through places that have appeared in past Black Ops games, players compete against one another. Players can operate vehicles on land, at sea, and in the air in this mode.
Unique modes in Blackout alter the existence or functionality of tangible objects in the game’s world. By removing long-range weapons, methods like “Close Quarters” emphasize a faster and even more aggressive playstyle. While others, like “Fast Collapse,” feature a more rapid shortening of the circle.
Development
Contrary to rumors that the campaign mode was abandoned in the middle of development because there was not enough time to finish it, Treyarch studio explained that a campaign mode was never intended for Black Ops 4. Moreover, they wanted to try something new and make a game that would be more playable all across the board.
A large percentage of Black Ops III gamers didn’t finish the single-player campaign; instead, they mostly played the multiplayer after it was revealed that the series’ decision to discontinue the campaign mode would not be permanent and that it was back in the 2019 Call of Duty game.
Plot
Multiplayer/ Blackout
In 2043, Jessica Mason-Green, a US Army Specialist, is probably murdered while her two squad members, Donnie “Ruin” Walsh with Erin “Battery” Baker, escape with critical wounds during a covert mission involving a mercenary gang. Two years later, Ruin and Battery are among ten of the world’s most elite warriors that Savannah Mason-Meyer, a trillionaire investigator and Jessica’s sister, recruits for a top-secret project vs. an unidentified enemy. The Specialists are trained in a virtual simulation by Savannah using a Combat Immersion program, with Sergeant Frank Woods as their instructor.
The next scene depicts Woods standing next to a power chair Alex Mason in an asylum. Ruin talks with Battery regarding their survival two years ago and how he got a warning message from an enigmatic person while taking a break from training. At some point, the person phones Ruin at his house and alert him to a mercenary ambush. Ruin makes it out of the trauma and to a warehouse, where he meets the person later identified as Jessica, who survived and went undercover. It is hinted that Savannah wants to get rid of every Specialist she employs. Additionally, she somehow contributed to the failure of the 2043 mission.
Zombies
Zombies have two stories: a chaos story and an aether story. The story is developed through dialogue and hidden sequences behind Easter eggs in the two games. Aether and Chaos feature separate maps and characters. It is evident from this that the mode is meant to replace a typical campaign. Zombies are also far from the Hollywood-style narratives COD has previously offered. Still, it ought to suffice for most players to satisfy their single-player needs.
Sales
Black Ops 4 generated over $500 million in global retail sales within the first three days of its release. Following Red Dead Redemption 2, the game was the second-best-selling in the US in November 2018. Activision revealed that the game fell short of expectations in February 2019.
Comics tie-in
The second episode of a Call of Duty: Zombies comic book series, which debuted, was announced to be published by Comics in June 2018. On September 5, 2018, the first issue of the second season, a prequel that focuses on the four new characters from the Chaos plot, was published. There will be three more issues. Justin Jordan and Dan Jackson return as writer and colorist, respectively, whereas Andres Ponce and Mauro Vargas continue the series as penciller and inker. The series’ story is again created by Treyarch’s Co-Studio Head Jason Blundell and Lead Writer Craig Houston. E. M. Gist creates each issue’s cover art.

How are COD 4 Zombies?
Bo4 is worthwhile for those looking for one of the best co-op experiences accessible to date, thanks to Zombies’ style and feel with pals. This should be sufficient to pique gamers’ interest in B4. The day when major developers invested heavily in the battle royale genre was only a matter of time. It is that good.
Conclusion
Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 doesn’t feel like a game where a key component is missing. Though, a meaningful single-player narrative is absent. This is one of the most content-rich versions in recent memory, thanks to the smooth implementation of the new Blackout feature and the significant modifications to Zombies and Multiplayer. It won’t be recognized for its creative design, but since every mode works flawlessly, it doesn’t need to. CoD is now again entertaining to play, which is long overdue.
