Story & Gameplay
Scarlet and Violet are situated in a whole new area called Paldea. Your adventure in the Iberian-inspired setting will begin in a school. Your character has been assigned a “special independent study assignment” at school called The Treasure Hunt. This treasure quest will send you to explore the Paldea area. For the first time, you’ll be able to embark on three-story campaigns while exploring the open game world in whatever order you choose in this series.
One of these campaigns follows a more typical course for the Pokémon series, requiring you to battle eight gym leaders to earn badges, but you can do it in whatever order you choose. The other campaigns are yet unknown. However, they may be related to the research of the game’s new professors, Turo and Sada from Pokémon Violet and Scarlet, respectively.
Multiplayer
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will support up to 4 players in multiplayer mode. In the June 2022 teaser, we saw this in action, with Nintendo confirming, “Along with series traditions like trading & battling Pokémon, you will be able to visit the several areas of the region in these videogames with other people.” You can meet new Pokémon and explore new regions with your friends and family.”
9th Gen Starters
As with previous games in the franchise, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet will expose us to three new Gen 9 starters to pick from at the start of the adventure.
Sprigatito, an attention-seeking Grass Cat Pokémon with the ability Overgrow, is the Grass-type starter. When active, all Grass-type attacks are increased by 50% if an opposing Pokémon has less than a third of its health. Fuecoco, a laid-back Fire Croc Pokémon with the Blaze ability, is the Fire-type starter. Again, if an opponent Pokémon has a third of its health remaining, Fire-type attacks are increased by 50%. Quaxly, a sincere and tidy Duckling Pokémon with the Torrent ability, is the Water-type starter. Pokédex
Although not confirmed, the entire Pokédex will not be featured in this game.
