Introducing the Honor Magic V6: A New Foldable with a Massive Battery
Honor has unveiled its latest innovation in foldable technology, the Honor Magic V6, just ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. This new device boasts a colossal 6,600 mAh battery and a sturdy hinge design, improving upon its predecessor in several key areas. For more details, click here.
The Slimmest Foldable Yet
The Chinese tech company continues its pursuit of creating the thinnest foldable phones on the market. The Magic V6 measures a mere 4mm in thickness when unfolded, and 8.75mm when folded. These dimensions represent a slight reduction from the previous model, the Magic V5, which measured 4.1mm and 8.8mm respectively when unfolded and folded. While these differences may seem minute, they contribute to Honor’s reputation for producing impressively slender foldable devices.
Revolutionary Battery Capabilities
One of the standout features of the Honor Magic V6 is its robust 6,600 mAh battery, a significant upgrade from the 5,820 mAh battery that powered the previous model. The device utilizes Honor’s SuperCharge technology, allowing for 80W charging via a wired connection and 66W for wireless charging.
Beyond this, Honor has also introduced a new silicon-carbon battery technology with a silicon density of 32%, a development which could potentially increase the foldable phone’s battery capacity to over 7,000mAh.
Advanced Display and Robust Hinge Design
The Magic V6 is equipped with a 7.95-inch primary AMOLED display sporting a resolution of 2352 x 2172 pixels. A secondary 6.52-inch cover display offers a resolution of 2420 x 1080 pixels. Both displays support LTPO 2.0 technology, allowing for variable refresh rates between 1 and 120 Hz depending on the specific use case. This adaptive refresh rate technology enhances content readability and helps conserve battery life.
In addition to its impressive display, the Magic V6 boasts a new Super Steel hinge with a remarkable tensile strength of 2,800 MPa. This robust hinge design ensures the device’s durability for long-term use. Honor has also reduced the fold depth by 44%, resulting in a smoother display. Additionally, the device features a new anti-glare coating on the external display, reducing reflectivity to just 1.5%.
Powerful Performance and Camera Setup
Under the hood, the Honor Magic V6 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor and comes with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The device also sports a triple camera setup on the rear, featuring a 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.6 aperture, a 64-megapixel telephoto camera with an f/2.5 aperture, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera with an f/2.2 aperture. For selfies, the device is equipped with two 20-megapixel cameras, both with an f/2.2 aperture.
Enhanced Compatibility with Apple Devices
Honor has also made strides in improving compatibility with Apple devices. With the Magic V6, users can set up two-way notification sync with an iPhone, and the device can also display notifications on an Apple Watch. Additionally, the new foldable can share files with Macs with just a single click and can even function as an extended display.
While Honor has yet to announce the price of the Magic V6, the company has stated that it will be released in select international markets in the second half of the year.
