Last year, Clubhouse Audio Chat was only launched for iOS and iPadOS with invite-only chatrooms having a semi-exclusive ambiance. However, finally, we are getting Clubhouse Audio Chat on Android. Here is everything you need to know about this before it comes rolling out into the market.
The Clubhouse is a simple system that allows a host and guests to converse in real-time while others listen in. Despite being an invitation-only app, it has become a hugely popular iOS app in a short period of time. Because of its limited availability and absence of an Android app, it has created a gap in the market and more established web firms are taking advantage of it. Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, Spotify, and Telegram have all adopted or made moves toward a Clubhouse-style audio chat function.
It is a social networking site built on a voice that allows individuals to communicate about anything. It was launched in April of last year. Simply being a listener, a speaker, or a moderator allows you to move in and out of many rooms on various themes. The types of rooms you will see are determined by who you choose to follow. It also depends on who is in your contact book, and your interests and hobbies, among other factors. It’s similar to an interactive podcast with real-life interactions. Aside from being an audio-based software, Clubhouse is an invite-only app, which means you must be invited by someone to join.
Clubhouse Audio Chat debuted for iOS last year, giving users audio-only access to rooms where hosts lead discussions. The hosts included people like Oprah Winfrey, Elon Musk, and Tiffany Haddish. However, Android users didn’t get to enjoy this app, and other companies hurried to release replacements in the meantime. In the meantime, Twiter created Twitter Spaces, despite reports that some fake apps on the Google Play store included malware. Facebook is also developing a Clubhouse-like feature, as is LinkedIn, while Spotify has bought an audio-only app to repurpose for its musicians and podcasters to talk with followers.
The famous invite-only audio conversation app Clubhouse has finally launched on Android after spending a year on the Apple iOS platform. Clubhouse for Android went live in beta, starting with the United States, then other English-speaking nations, and finally the rest of the world. The company’s first goal over the first several weeks was to address bugs and work on adding a few final features like payments and club creation. Clubhouse for Android will continue to be an invite-only platform, allowing each new community member to bring a few close friends with them.
The company also said that they are planning to welcome millions more people from the iOS waitlist, expand language support, and add more accessibility features. By doing this people all over the world can experience Clubhouse in a way that feels natural to them. Clubhouse acquired further money in the Series C round last month, bringing its worth to $4 billion, as tech heavyweights such as Twitter, Spotify, Facebook, Telegram, Discord, and LinkedIn go after it. It has exploded in popularity, with an estimated ten million weekly active users.
On both iOS and Android, Twitter has announced that its live audio discussion tool Spaces will be available to those with 600 followers or more. Aside from Twitter, Discord has introduced Stage Channels, while Facebook, Spotify, Slack, LinkedIn, and Reddit are also working on comparable audio-only tools. This year, Facebook will also debut Live Audio Rooms, a similar tool that will be available on Messenger as well. Last month, Facebook said that it would test Live Audio Rooms in Groups. Thus, making it available to the 1.8 billion people who use Groups each month and the tens of millions of active Facebook communities.
As part of its mission to assist creators to monetize and make money from users on its platform, the firm has recently launched its payments functionality to over 66,000 creators in the United States. Users outside of the United States can pre-register for the app on the Google Play store’s Clubhouse page. When the app is accessible in their location, users will be notified. Despite the launch of the Android app, Clubhouse will remain an invite-only platform, meaning that it will not be available to the general public.
Clubhouse Audio Chat boasts 600,000+ users, including celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, influencers, CEOs, and everyone in between. In the creative industries, it’s also popular for networking and informal chats. Children and young people may be more likely to join if and when Clubhouse makes the app open to anyone, and if popularity continues to increase and the talks shift to social media.
Clubhouse has been chastised for its inability to manage all areas effectively. Concerns have also been expressed concerning the app’s lack of safety standards for monitoring abuse such as hate speech. The app is not suitable for everyone. There is presently no age verification, thus anyone under the age of 18 can join the app if someone they know has invited them. Although, the company issued a statement condemning hate speech and abuse in reaction to the allegations. It even revised its community guidelines and terms of service to reflect this. You have more rights as a moderator than as a speaker or listener. You can accept or reject speakers as a moderator in a room.
Moreover, you can even block someone and report incidents as a speaker or listener. Clubhouse makes it clear that chats are not to be taken outside of the app. Also, it does not allow users to record them. If users are found to be doing so, they will be deleted and an investigation will be conducted.
After more than a year as an iOS-only app, the audio-based social networking platform Clubhouse Audio Chat on Android. Clubhouse’s Android app will be accessible in beta in the United States on the Google operating system. Thus, allowing users to sign up and engage in its audio-only chat rooms.
