Honor’s Revolutionary Robot Phone
The world of mobile technology continues to innovate and surprise us with groundbreaking devices. Leading the pack is Chinese tech company Honor with its latest invention, a “robot phone.” First announced earlier this year, the company has recently revealed more details about this unique device, which features a movable camera arm, ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona. The robot phone is expected to launch in the second half of this year.
The standout feature of this device is its ability to react to different situations without the need for commands. This level of autonomy in a mobile device is unprecedented and highlights Honor’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology.
A “Personality” That Can Interact With You
The robot phone isn’t just a cold piece of machinery. According to Honor, it has been imbued with a “personality.” This means it can respond to you with “head shakes” and even dance to music. Users can communicate with the assistant on the phone via text and voice, creating an interactive experience. The company demonstrated this capability in a video where a person asked for clothing suggestions, and the robot responded by nodding or shaking to suggest an outfit.

Superior Camera Features
The robot phone’s camera is a 200-megapixel device mounted on a three-axis mobile robot gimbal with advanced stabilization technology. This allows the camera to rotate smoothly and capture clear videos and photos. It also features a Super Steady mode for video capture and a Spinshot feature that can rotate the robot’s camera 90 or 180 degrees for cinematic shots.
Improved Video Calls
The robotic camera also enhances the quality of video calls. It uses AI-powered object tracking to follow you smoothly during the call, which could be seen as a significant upgrade to Apple’s Center Stage technology. This feature promises to make video communications more dynamic and immersive.
Innovative Design and Construction
Honor has developed its own micromotor to control the movements of the robotic camera. It uses techniques from foldable phones to make the camera more robust and integrate the four-degree-of-freedom gimbal system into the phone’s body. The materials used for the robotic arm are the same as those used in the Honor Magic V6’s hinge, boasting a tensile strength of 2,800 MPa. This ensures that the phone is not only innovative but also durable and reliable.

Besides the robot phone, Honor also unveiled the Honor Magic V6 foldable with a 6,600mAh battery, the Honor MagicPad 4 tablet, and the Honor MagicBook 14 laptop at its event. As one of the leading tech companies in the world, Honor continues to impress with its innovative devices that push the boundaries of what we can expect from mobile technology.
