VNYX: Revolutionizing Fashion Resale in Amsterdam
VNYX, an innovative FashionTech startup based in Amsterdam, is setting new standards in the fashion resale industry by securing over one million euros in funding. With a focus on making fashion reselling more scalable and profitable than traditional dumping methods, VNYX is poised to transform the industry landscape.
Strategic Funding and Transition
The recent funding round includes strategic investments and government grants, signaling VNYX’s transition to a post-revenue, customer-centric phase. This marks a significant milestone for the startup, which aims to further enhance its technological capabilities and expand its market reach.
“We’ve proven that reselling clothing is not only the right thing to do for the planet, but also for your wallet. Our focus now turns to scaling,” said Guus Balkema, CFO of VNYX.
Innovative Solutions for Fashion Resale
Founded in 2025, VNYX automates the intricate process of reselling returns, overstock, and pre-owned clothing. This innovation allows the fashion industry to enhance its resale operations and adhere to European regulations (EPR and Prohibition of Destruction of Goods) that prohibit dumping and burning, all while maintaining profitability.
By integrating software and AI with proprietary hardware, VNYX has already reduced processing times from 19 minutes to just 3 minutes per item. This advancement promises a resale process that is “radically better, faster, and cheaper,” according to the company.
Current Operations and Future Goals
Currently, the VNYX10 system processes 10,000 items annually for partners like online platform BOAS and outdoor brand Bever, generating immediate commercial revenue. The company is on track to achieve its ambitious “one-minute promise” for profitable resale by year-end.
“Any brand that wants to spend less than a minute with us can join us now. We throw away and burn a textile garbage truck every three seconds, so every second counts. The right time to act is now,” said Romy Goedhart, co-founder of VNYX.
Partnerships and Technological Advancements
VNYX’s success is bolstered by partnerships with organizations such as Baltic Business Angels and Squads Fund, which provide critical mentorship in managing complex hardware and software integration. Stichting DOEN and Earthstar help align the company’s growth with scalable environmental impacts. Furthermore, the RVO (Netherlands Enterprise Agency) offers essential non-dilutive funding to support R&D and technological advancements. Spark Design & Innovation is a key partner and investor in the physical development of the VNYX hardware suite.
Looking Ahead: VNYX100 and Beyond
The company anticipates delivering its next-generation VNYX100, capable of processing 100,000 items annually, to BOAS by June 2026. It is also welcoming investors and fashion brands to Amsterdam for the launch of the VNYX1000, touted as the world’s first resale robotics and AI system capable of processing over 1 million items per year.
“We are now focusing on scaling. We are shortlisting a shortlist of venture capital firms and strategic fashion brands for the deployment of our VNYX1000 technology in international distribution centers and global fashion brands,” added Balkema.
VNYX invites venture capital firms focused on the circular economy, DeepTech, ClimateTech, and fashion/reverse logistics automation, along with forward-thinking brands, logistics centers, and fashion retailers, to join in making fashion reselling profitable and scalable.
