Syracuse-based Archimede closes €1.5 million funding round for remote infrastructure monitoring

Archimede: Pioneering Off-Grid Infrastructure Management with New Funding

Archimede, an innovative DeepTech startup based in Italy, is making waves with its cutting-edge solution for managing critical infrastructure in off-grid environments. Recently, the company successfully closed a seed funding round of €1.5 million, exceeding its initial goal of €1 million. This financial milestone will empower Archimede to bolster its technical and commercial teams, complete product industrialization, accelerate corporate pilot projects, and support its international expansion.

Funding Partners and Strategic Vision

The funding round was spearheaded by Primo Capital SGR, utilizing its funds Primo Digital, Primo Digital Parallel Italia, and Primo Digital Parallel Sud Italia. Additional support came from CDP Venture Capital, Plug and Play, and ELIS through CrossConnect, CDP Venture Capital’s National Accelerator Network InfraTech program, along with contributions from 40Jemz and Irritec.

Riccardo Puglisi, CEO and co-founder of Archimede, expressed enthusiasm for the company’s progress, stating, “In just over two years, we have transformed an idea born in Sicily into a technology startup ready to expand into international markets. We want to make remote infrastructure and asset management simple and accessible by integrating energy, satellite connectivity, and software control into a single system.”

Innovative Technology with Global Potential

Archimede was founded in 2024 by Riccardo Puglisi, Alessandro Basile, and Ferdinando Anselmi. The startup has developed ArchMesh, a plug-and-play modular kit designed for managing and monitoring critical infrastructure in off-grid environments. This solution merges predictive energy management, multi-constellation satellite connectivity, and a low-code software platform into one integrated stack, allowing for two-way control of distributed facilities and assets, even in areas lacking reliable terrestrial network coverage.

Primo Capital’s Mara Attardi highlighted what sets Archimede apart: “What convinced us about Archimede was not only the technology itself, but also the way it was built: in an environment where energy, connectivity, and access to resources are never guaranteed, this challenge has now become the company’s product. The result is an integrated stack designed to operate at the edge of the connected world, where demand is growing fastest.”

Expanding Applications Across Industries

Archimede’s solution is versatile, catering to various industries such as agriculture, oil and gas, logistics, public infrastructure, and defense. It addresses a pressing need: ensuring data, control, and operational continuity in scenarios where conventional power and connectivity are uncertain.

In addition to its hardware and software offerings, Archimede plans to develop an open-source version to lower adoption barriers and enable businesses, developers, and system integrators to build vertical applications on the platform. This initiative aims to transform isolated infrastructures into intelligent, controllable nodes, enhancing the operational resilience of distributed industrial value chains and infrastructures.

Corporate Collaborations and Future Prospects

The company has already initiated projects with large corporate operators. Notably, a Proof of Concept (PoC) with Eni Joule is underway to test ArchMesh for remote management and monitoring of industrial assets in areas with limited connectivity.

Archimede’s ultimate goal is to evolve ArchMesh into a scalable platform for off-grid infrastructure management, applying spatial and digital technologies to practical industrial use cases such as smart irrigation, pipeline monitoring, logistics tracking, remote facility management, and distributed asset control.
