Dyson Introduces PencilWash—an Innovative Solution for Hard Floor Cleaning

In an exciting development, Dyson has revealed a new addition to its range of cleaning devices—the PencilWash. This innovative device has been launched as a companion to its predecessor, the PencilVac, which was touted as the “world’s slimmest vacuum cleaner” during its launch nine months ago. However, unlike the PencilVac that was designed for dust and debris collection, the PencilWash is specifically designed to clean spills and stains on hard floors. Here is the complete detail.

Uniqueness of PencilWash

Similar to the PencilVac, the PencilWash has a slender structure with a diameter of 1.5 inches. It houses a battery, motor, and other electronics within its slim handle. The key difference lies in the cleaning mechanism; instead of a dust bin, the PencilWash comes with a water reservoir located in its larger cleaning head, which features a single floor-scrubbing roller.

Specifications and Price

The PencilWash weighs 4.9 pounds without water or a low foaming cleaning solution in its tank. Although it is slightly heavier than the PencilVac, it is considerably cheaper. While the PencilVac, equipped with four spinning conical brush heads, is priced at $600, the PencilWash costs just $349. This price includes a charging stand for the handle portion, providing added value to the customers.

Cleaning Capabilities

The PencilWash has been designed specifically for hard floors such as tile, laminate, and sealed wood. It features a pressurized hydration system that delivers fresh water, which is then used by its high-density microfiber roller to scrub surfaces. The dirty water is collected afterwards. Although the floors are not left completely dry, the remaining moisture evaporates quickly, leaving the surfaces clean and fresh. The PencilWash’s handle has a pivoting feature, allowing it to lie nearly flat for reaching under furniture—a feature not found in Dyson’s larger floor scrubbers.

Battery Life and Flexibility

The battery life of the PencilWash is estimated to be more than 30 minutes on a full charge, which is comparable to the PencilVac on its lowest power setting. To extend the cleaning period, Dyson has made the battery swappable. A backup battery can be purchased separately, providing flexibility for those with larger cleaning areas.

In conclusion, Dyson’s PencilWash presents an effective and innovative solution for hard floor cleaning. It’s a testament to Dyson’s commitment to continually improving and expanding its range of cleaning devices, offering consumers more tailored and efficient cleaning solutions.
