Acer Predator Orion 3000: Gaming PC with stunning graphics!

The Acer Predator Orion 3000 is a brand-new gaming desktop from a major corporation, and it’s easy to take a negative outlook on these devices because they frequently cost more and have less power than comparable products from smaller companies.

The Predator, which goes by the model designation PO3-620, costs £1,998.00 in the UK and comes equipped with an Intel 11th-generation CPU and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card. The computer costs  $1,519.99 in the US and comes with an RTX 2060 Super graphics card as an upgrade.

However, it’s not a fantastic option if you want to play games at 4K, and its built-in keyboard and mouse are somewhat disappointing. The Acer Predator Orion 3000′s battery performance is slightly worse than several gaming PCs with comparable prices.

However, there are several shortcomings with the device. Even though having a variety of front-facing connectors is excellent, only having one USB 3.0 port there may require you to switch connections frequently, mainly if you use a wired controller when gaming.

Another significant benefit of the Orion 3000 is its small size. Although it is slightly less potent than a mid-tower computer like the CyberPower iCUE Infinity gaming PC, the Orion 3000 is much lighter and easy to transport to a different area. There is also a headset grip, which, while a great idea, may block those ports based on the headset you use.

Price and Availability

Acer Predator Orion 3000

Acer’s website offers pre-built Acer Predator Orion 3000 desktops in various configurations, and you can also get them through independent merchants like Amazon and Newegg.

Acer Predator Orion 3000 was available for as little as  $1,519.99, which includes a 512GB SSD, a GeForce GTX 1660 Super GPU, an 11th Gen Intel Core i5 CPU, and 8GB of DDR4 RAM. The Orion 3000 comes with an Intel Core i7-11700F CPU, a GeForce RTX 3070 GPU, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, 1TB of HDD storage, and 1TB of SSD storage, which is available in higher configurations.

In 2022, Acer will update the Orion 3000 line with Intel’s new 12th Gen Alder Lake CPUs, enabling these small, mid-range gaming PCs to outperform the 11th Gen CPU.

Design & Build

Acer Predator Orion 3000

The exterior of the Acer Predator Orion 3000 is excellent. A stylish slate of tempered glass, an RGB LED fan, two matching light streaks, and vertical mesh slabs make up the front panel. It has an identical aesthetic to systems from specialized builders. Along with a replacement side panel made of toughened glass, the triangular power button also features RGB LEDs.

The side panels, front panels, and roof are all of good to build quality, supporting the eye-catching design. The rig is only 392mm tall and 175mm broad and has a top handle. This makes the PC portable, making it simple to transport to LAN gatherings and friends’ homes. That’s modest by gaming desktop standards.

Two audio jacks, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A connector, and one Type-C port are on the case’s front. However, they are concealed by a flimsy lid. There is also a headphone holder. However, it is much too small.

On the inside, there isn’t much to get excited about either. Nothing has been done to enhance aesthetics in this case, as is customary with big-name gaming PCs; the Orion 3000 offers bare metal and messy cabling. The only upgrade options are a single drive bay and two extra memory slots.

There are a few significant rivals for the Predator Orion 3000. Another well-known choice is the Asus ROG Strix G15DH, which is worse than the Acer because it is bigger, heavier, and less stylish. The PC Specialist Magma R2 is more significant than both, better, and has many more upgrade routes. It also has a cleaner build.

Even though you may never need to use it, the front port offers easy access to USB-C and USB-A ports, with separate headphone and microphone connections. A second USB-C port, four USB-A connections (two USB 2.0 and two USB 3.2 Gen 1), an RJ45 Ethernet port, a microphone jack, and audio line in/out ports can be found on the back.

That’s a good port selection, and there are enough of them that you may never need to buy a dongle or USB hub. However, you might want to, particularly if you own or purchase many USB-C accessories. The Acer Predator Orion 3000’s motherboard also supports Wi-Fi 6, in case you don’t wish to connect the computer to a wired Internet connection.

Acer has done an excellent job of making sure you can easily access the Orion 3000’s internal components if you decide you want to upgrade it in the future. Once you pull off the mentioned side panel, it’s simple to access the components in the device because the wires were neatly routed and stowed away inside the case upon arrival.

Acer Predator Orion 3000: Gaming PC with stunning graphics!

The Orion 3000 produced good but not outstanding results during the general optimization of this small gaming PC.

Even yet, the Orion 3000 can run some of the most graphically striking games at 4K while maintaining a steady frame rate, mainly because of the advanced GPU in the system.

If you don’t care about 4K, performance at a 1080p option improves considerably more, allowing you to play games at a fast, unlocked frame rate. This is excellent if you frequently play online multiplayer games like Apex Legends or League of Legends or if you intend to purchase upcoming games like Battlefield 2042.

The game was unrestricted by the Control session, but the PC’s temperature and fan speed rose, and frame rates occasionally dipped. However, the machine’s superior cooling system was more than competent, so there’s no need to be concerned.

However, remember that the operating system will share space on your SSD with your installed games. With only 500GB accessible, you won’t have much room to save your favorite games, especially if they have larger file sizes. You have to purchase a second SSD if you don’t want to put games on your Orion 3000’s hard disc.

Keyboard and mouse

Acer Predator Orion 3000: Gaming PC with stunning graphics!

The Acer Predator Orion 3000 is shipped with a wired gaming keyboard and mouse outfitted with Predator-themed accessories to go with the computer. It is stated with confidence that they are both okay.

The mouse is a little more comfortable. It also had the ideal number of inputs for particular gaming needs—two top, two sides, and a scroll wheel with a DPI button beneath it (for instant sensitivity adjustments).

The pre-installed Acer PredatorArc program allows you to adjust the keyboard and mouse’s RGB lighting and the functions of the mouse’s two side buttons. Although the keyboard has some media controls integrated into the top-right corner, it does not come with such programmable keys out of the box.

While the built-in keyboard and mouse are OK for getting by if you need them, it would be far preferable to get the equipment you genuinely enjoy and replace them.

Is the Predator Orion 3000 good for gaming?

Forget about 4K; the Acer Predator Orion 3000 is fantastic for gaming at 1080p or even 1440p. This is a tremendous first gaming PC for individuals new to the scene, despite its performance being a little lacking.

Is the Acer Predator Orion 3000 customizable?

This PC has fully configurable RGB and is quite showy.

The durability of the Acer Predator Orion 3000?

The chassis’ front and back corners are sharp while being highly strong. Furthermore, the metal that descends the sides has squared-off corners at the bottom, which is uncomfortable to use.

There are some good selling points for the Acer Predator Orion 3000. It is perfect for LAN parties because it is compact, sturdy, and has a handle. It also has a great appearance.

The RTX 2060 in the UK offers sufficient 1080p, 1440p, and eSports gaming speed, but the RTX 2060 Super in the US is a tad faster. The Intel CPU is a reliable chip with adequate memory and storage for general computing and content creation.

However, this big-brand box does have certain drawbacks, as usual. If you care about that stuff, more graphics and processing power are available elsewhere for comparable pricing, and the motherboard, PSU, and interior are unimpressive. You should search elsewhere if you’re interested in improving or chasing framerates.

However, the Acer Predator Orion 3000 is a good choice if you want a powerful, compact, uncomplicated PC for regular travel and popular gaming.
