Share

You opted to ditch the faithful AirPods in favor of the Edifier TWS NB2 Pro wireless earbuds with ANC & ambient sound mode, secretly expecting to finally discover a set of headphones that you could use without being concerned about the inability to hear incoming traffic.

These Edifier earbuds surely offer all the features you’re searching for, with the promise of an amazing audio experience: a charging case with rapid charging, a companion app, and numerous sound settings, like ambient sound mode & active noise cancellation (ANC).

With the market already flooded with wireless noise-canceling earphones, keep reading to find out how the Edifier TWS NB2 Pro earbuds stack up.

Price and availability

This Edifier TWS NB2 Pro wireless earbuds costs $89.99 here on the Edifier website, but at the time of writing, it was reduced to $79.99 on Amazon and Walmart. The earbuds are reasonably priced, and they come in a light yet strong, small charging case with 3 variants of ear tips as well as a USB-C charger. They come in two traditional colors: black and white, both of which are functional but it may leave you desiring more colorful options depending on your personal preferences.

Design and Comfort

It was straightforward to connect the Edifier TWS NB2 Pro earphones to the iPhone. The earphones were quickly identified and linked to my smartphone with the push of a button here on the case, and you were ready to go! It went up a size from the medium ear tips since they fit better in my ears.

Comfort levers are useful. They’re so comfortable that Even forgot that was wearing them when strolling about the home or doing errands, and they should be perfect for hiking, riding, or hitting the gym.

After putting the earphones through stress & dancing about the living room, you discovered that now the Edifier buds were prone to falling out if you moved the head too quickly. Although this is not a completely accurate case, you should be aware of the possibility of the earphones falling out if you make a lot of quick movements.

Sound Quality of Edifier TWS NB2 Pro

Edifier earbuds have a strong reputation, and the company’s somewhat more pricey NeoBuds Pro wowed you with their high-quality sound output. Even though Edifier TWS NB2 Pro is a lower-priced version, it does not appear that sound attributes have been lost to keep the price low. You  can easily hear both bass and voices, but cymbals and high notes sometimes sound a touch harsh, especially on EDM tracks like the Chainsmokers’ “Closer.”

When listening to Imagine Dragons’ “Radioactive,” the bass is clear without distortion. As well as the music swells within the background are quite well without becoming overbearing. When listening to podcasts, films, and television shows, the sound is good and close to what I’ve heard with Apple’s AirPods, which is a significant achievement at a lower price.

You may also enable Game Mode, which is designed to decrease latency from on-screen sound & visuals. You didn’t see any obvious change with the mode activated throughout the time, although dedicated gamers may notice a better in-sync screen & audio experience.

The music soundstage has a lot more depth when Spatial Audio allows. Some of my favorite music, most notably Panic! at the Disco’s “Girls/Girls/Boys,” had the effect of making you feel like that was truly at a live event. It’s a cool feature, but it works better on certain tunes than others, with others having one too many echoes to sound authentic or pleasurable.

Controls

The Edifier TWS NB2 Pro tap-control makes it simple to activate ANC, Background Sound, Sport, & Game modes simply triple tapping here on the left earpiece. When listening to music, you could play/pause and skip to another track by tapping the right earphone. This is perfect for hands-free streaming music, however, you wish there was a hands-free volume control option. In addition, Siri and Google Assistant are supported.

Despite Edifier’s claims of automatic in-ear recognition. It find that music continued to play after you withdrew the ‘buds from the ear & placed them nearby. This frequently meant that you had to switch off the Bluetooth or remove the headphones to utilize your phone’s speaker. Although you like earbuds that successfully auto-identify when removed from the ears. Many people will just place the ‘buds back inside the charging case. When they’re through using them, which immediately disconnect and stop playing and mitigates any inaccurate auto-detect difficulties.

Active noise cancellation

Like an earbud that fits inside your ear canal, there is naturally some passive noise isolation. Since it creates a physical barrier between external noises and your eardrum. However, a significant advantage of Edifier TWS NB2 Pro earbuds is the active noise canceling mode. This can activate and deactivate with a double touch on the left earbud.

The sound of traffic outside greatly decreases when noise reduction allows. The air conditioner and even the noise of your partner’s phone ringing across the room are noticeably quieter and softer. Best of all, the noise-canceling feature is available. Even when you aren’t playing anything, providing me with a quiet zone that had no idea you needed.

Battery life of Edifier TWS NB2 Pro

The Edifier TWS NB2 Pro boasts a 32-hour battery life. You’ll receive up to nine hours of music playing from one single charge. The charging case provides an additional 23 hours of usage. A 15-minute quick charge provides roughly two hours of gameplay in my experience.

The Connect app allows you to monitor the power life of each earbud. However, it would have been good to have the battery life shown on the charging case too. These earphones lasted far longer than the AirPods. This was great while you were on the move and didn’t have a way to charge them.

You charged the Edifier earphones on Monday night and didn’t have to charge them until after Friday while wearing them for 3-4 hours every day. But also discovered that the rapid charge option made it simple to maintain the ‘buds charged after a few hours of use.

App and Special Features

The Edifier Connect app, which is accessible for iOS & Android smartphones, contains a link to a user manual as well as settings for changing in-ear detection, tap sensitivity, as well as factory settings. It also allows you to detach or re-pair the Bluetooth connection, as well as establish a scheduled shutdown if you want to listen to music for a certain period of time when falling asleep, for example.

Its ambient sound mode is one of the nicest features of these earbuds. Despite never having heard of earbuds with this function before, it has rapidly become a must-have feature for you.

You may adjust the volume of ambient sound settings in the app to hear more of what’s happening around you. When you were wearing the earbuds outside for a stroll. You cranked up the ambient sound mode to increase traffic awareness. You turned it down while you were working at home to block out the noise of my AC blasting and the noise of my partner’s movie playing in the room next door.

Its ambient sound mode is a major selling factor for such earbuds. Particularly if you are using them at the gym, here on the bus, or in other noisy situations. Although you would have preferred to be able to modify the ambient sound volume directly from the earphones. Rather than through the smartphone connect app.

Call quality and connectivity

The call quality remained consistent during phone conversations and Zoom chats. There were no perceptible dropouts, even when you just wore one earbud. The call quality was good, and the companion on the other end reported that she could readily hear and understand it. As a result, these earphones are great for people who have to make phone conversations while on the road.

Conclusion

Most of the criteria are met by these earbuds. They are simple to pair with your phone, have a great battery life, as well an ambient sound option. This is ideal for someone like you who is always on the bus or strolling to the supermarket. Although you wish the earbuds had more consistent in-ear recognition and a sleeker appearance. You’re willing to accept these small flaws in exchange for the practical comfort and functionality they provide for the price.
