Klipsch AW-650: Large Outdoor Speakers with Powerful Sound!

Share

A Klipsch AW-650 Outdoor Speakers ideal for individuals who want to rock hard in their backyard. With greater bass than typical outdoor speakers, these enormous wired outdoor speakers offer a booming sound to any deck or patio. They’re so large that they’ll become the main point of any outdoor decor, yet they’re loud enough so that you won’t be drowned out by a pool party. However, the delight of listening to them could come at a cost.

Price and availability

The Klipsch AW-650 has been on the market for many years (According to its Amazon listing, it has been in business since 2005), but it has never failed to impress.

The list price is $659, however as of this writing, you can get them for $349 on Amazon.

Design

The Klipsch AW-650 are large speakers, in case I didn’t make that apparent. You won’t be able to hide these because they measure 15 x 11 x 9.5 inches. The Polk Atrium 4 is 8.6 x 6.7 x 5.7 inches in contrast.

The AW-650 has a hard plastic casing as well as a metal frame grill that lets sound out. It comes in black or white. Klipsch used a 6.5-inch speaker and a 1-inch tweeter inside each speaker to create a sound that matched the size of such speakers.

They engaged with a C-clamp that may be used to place them on the wall. You can also use a different mount and attach it to the slotted insertion on the back.

Specifications

  • Weather resistance: All-weather; UV resistant and rustproof
  • Speakers: 6.5-inch driver, 1.0-inch tweeter
  • Size: 15 x 11 x 9.5 inches

Performance

The AW-650 demonstrates that bigger speakers deliver louder sound. The AW-650 has far more bass and a wider sound than smaller wired outdoor speakers. They also provide more detail than some other outdoor speakers.

Billie Eilish’s “Happier than Ever” had a wonderful crunch to the distorted guitars, although her vocals still were audible. The bass pulsed aggressively on The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” while the keys & snare drum sounded sharp. His vocals were audible if a little muffled due to the bass. On Tom Petty’s “Wildflowers,” the acoustic guitar sounded sharp but bright, as well as the accent instruments stood out in the mix.

The AW-650 can be pretty loud without distorting, as you’d expect, yet the treble began to sound excessively harsh at around 94 dB.

Ruggedness

The AW-650 is described as “all-weather,” although Klipsch can not provide an IPS panel to back up this claim. The grill is rustproof and the shell is UV resistant. The weather-resistant powder coating extends to the zinc clasp as well. We anticipate the speakers will resist the elements, given the construction quality and the length of time the product is now on the market.

Setup

You want an amplifier to power the sound because the AW-650 isn’t very powerful. You may link outdoor wired speakers such as the Klipsch AW-650 to a home theatre receiver with such a second zone. It’s also possible to utilize a separate amplifier.

Speaker wires link the speakers to the amplifier. The AW-650 terminals just on the back are simple to use. Restrict the use of banana plugs on other hands.

The C-clamp that comes with the speakers uses to secure the speakers. Attach the speaker to the top and bottom using the knobs after screwing the clamp to a wall. Set the speaker vertically or horizontally. The speaker should rotate in the mount to project sound in the best possible way.

Conclusion

If you do have the space and budget, the Klipsch AW-650 are the speakers to get if you want a wired outdoor speaker that gets loud and delivers bass. They are long-lasting and will ensure that your outdoor space is well-acoustic.

The Polk Atrium 4 achieves a wonderful blend of affordability and performance for those of us who don’t have a lot of outside space & want something more economical. They can’t equal the AW-650’s bass output, either. The size of the AW-650 is also part of the fun: your buddies will understand where your priorities are.
