Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 – A Budget Chromebook for Students!

Share

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 is a major improvement from last year’s Galaxy Chromebook 2, which was also a two-in-one. Nonetheless, with its bigger display, it should be a decent fit for classwork. While Chromebook sales were robust during the pandemic’s peak, they declined in the first quarter of 2022. The reduced pricing and student-friendly design of the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 may help it stand out among back-to-school customers.

Most ultrabooks today cost at least $1,000, pricing many university students out of the luxury laptop market. Similarly, if you’re searching for a Chromebook for a child or adolescent, parents obviously want to pay less than $500. Chromebooks already are the best substitute for pricey laptops, and Samsung’s latest offering is particularly built for student purposes.

Specs:

  •  12.4” screen
  • 10 hours of power*
  •  versatile 2-in-1 design
  • whopping 128GB of storage.
  • withstands 4ft dropped onto wood and resists up to 40G of shock
  • 720p HD webcam
  • resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 serves as the touchscreen
  • 2 USB-C ports, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, a MicroSD slot, a combination audio socket, a nano security slot, plus a SIM slot

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 – Release Date & Price

On April 15, Samsung stated that the new Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 is now available in the United States. This Chromebook is designed with education in mind, catering to the needs of kids, instructors, and school districts. However, students already have a lot on their plates with all of their books, the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 intends to be lightweight and portable.

As much as we can tell from the specs, there isn’t much variation, so we’d assume this to apply to the model with 4GB RAM & 64GB eMMC storage, with the 8/128GB variant costing a bit more. There’s also a variant with an additional Nano SIM Slot for cellular access, albeit this comes at a price.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 – Features

Schoolwork is no longer as simple as typing anything up on a laptop. A tablet is sometimes the ideal option for some tasks. Moreover, Samsung claims that the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 is built to provide the best of both worlds. The Chromebook, with its 360-degree hinge, converts from a laptop to a tablet with a high-resolution display. Which is ideal for drafting an essay or answering questions on an exam with a pen without taking up the entire desk.

This stated build quality also goes to a pleasant day-to-day usage, with a 19mm keycap pitch and big touchpad designed for hours of continuous usage. Curiously, battery life isn’t touted as the main selling factor, although Chromebooks normally have amazing endurance, so presumably, this is a mistake rather than a negative portent.

Despite its small weight, the Chromebook 2 360 has been designed to survive drops and the weight of textbooks. It also boasts a spill-resistant keyboard in case of mishaps when viewing Fortnite videos over lunch.

WebCam

The modern virtual character of education has not been overlooked. The 720p HD webcam allows you to join study groups & virtual courses from anywhere, whether at school or at home. However, the clarity will make it much easier for your instructor to detect if you’re not paying attention.

Lastly, the Phone Hub & Nearby Share functions let students connect with one another. You may exchange files, study guides, and other content, while also allowing parents to sign permission slips directly from their Android smartphones.

Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 – Specifications

The Chromebook 2 360 comes with 4GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB of eMMC storage, and a 45.5Wh battery. All of this is driven by an Intel Celeron N4500. “Celeron” would be a very unappealing term to read in an essay about a Windows laptop, yet Chrome OS normally performs far better on slower CPUs than Windows.

A 12.4-inch LED Display with a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 serves as the touchscreen. Samsung promises that this provides an “immersive viewing experience” whether you’re gaming or working, and ideally it will cope well with the 360-degree hinge’s range of viewing angles.

There are 2 USB-C ports, a USB 3.2 Type-A port, a MicroSD slot, a combination audio socket, a nano security slot, plus a SIM slot. The costlier Galaxy Chromebook 2 lacks the USB-A port entirely, so that’s a gain for the 360 in my opinion. It’s rather light, weighing 2.8 pounds and measuring 11.3 x 8.1 x 0.66 inches.

What is the main goal of Samsung Chromebooks?

The Chromebook’s main goal is to deliver the greatest web experience possible by providing a quicker, simpler, and more secure interface. Chromebooks are notebook computers that run the Chrome operating system, which is designed specifically for web applications. Which rely on cloud users to save apps, documents, and other data.

Does Galaxy Chromebook 2 have a fingerprint sensor?

A few of the Galaxy Chromebook’s very ambitious features are missing from the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook 2. The stylus, fingerprint sensor, and OLED display have all vanished.

Does a Chromebook have Microsoft Word?

You may access your Microsoft 365 programs from the web, including, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, OneNote, OneDrive, & Outlook. The online applications allow you to create, edit, and interact with files and documents.

Conclusion

This appears to be a “Galaxy Chromebook 2” in name only. It does not reflect its predecessor in any way. However, it appears to be a rung or two nicer than the normal gadgets seen in school laptop carts, and it almost likely provides a better visual experience. Moreover, durability is an essential aspect of any student laptop, and while you can’t tell from the pictures, past Galaxy Chromebooks have been pretty well-built.

With the Galaxy Chromebook 2 360 & Microsoft’s new Surface Laptop SE, this year is shaping up to be a year in which PC manufacturers better renowned for luxury products venture into the education arena. It’s giving schools some fascinating possibilities as computers grow increasingly crucial to the teaching experience. Perhaps the age of the characteristically ugly and sluggish school laptop trolley is coming to an end. But how many schools choose to purchase these fancy-screened machines will determine this.
