HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset – Game In Comfort For All Day!

Share

Gaming headphones do not have to be used only for gaming. As long as they have a 3.5mm connector and sound nice, and the boom mic wouldn’t get in the way, any excellent set can also serve as conventional stereo headphones. On the other hand, most gaming headphones include highly colored highlights, crisp lines, blazing lights, and an overall science-fiction style. Kingston took a different approach with the HyperX Cloud II gaming headset by removing the boom mic; it changes into a stylish pair of over-ear headphones.

It sounds great, albeit its sound profile is shaped with a gamer-centric emphasis on highs and lows. Also promises to include 7.1-channel virtual surround sound. However, a superb stereo gaming headset and a very fine pair of headphones. It is significantly more costly than the Plantronics RIG Surround. However, it can be used on the move, unlike the Plantronics headset.

Price and Availability of HyperX Cloud II

The HyperX Cloud II Headphone is available directly from HyperX’s website. However, you can also get them from other major retailers like Amazon and Walmart. There are wireless variants of the headset available at Best Buy, but this specific model is not one of them. The wired version is available in gunmetal or pink, with this review focusing on the latter. The headset costs $100 at retail. However, it may be found for less on occasion.

Comfort and Build Quality

The lightweight and comfy nature of the HyperX Cloud headsets is one of the favorite features of Cloud II. The HyperX Cloud II, like the previous HyperX Cloud II Mix, features a light aluminum frame that is also incredibly flexible, allowing it to adjust to any head size readily. This headset is all about comfort with its cushioned leather headband and memory foam ear cushions. If it’s too snug on your head, pull the metal frame down to adjust the size. The Cloud II is quite comfortable, and you can wear it for hours without noticing it on your head.

Design of HyperX Cloud II

The Hyper X Cloud II headset has the appearance and feels of a nice pair of headsets in its price range. It’s well-made, appealing, and subtle. It’s an over-ear set with a removable boom mic on the left earcup. The headset comes with a little rubber stopper to cover the hole when you disconnect the boom mic.

Because this is a cabled headset, the cable cannot be removed from the left ear cup. The audio cable was created by HyperX using a braided nylon fiber that is both malleable and sturdy. There’s never really been a problem with the cable strength on any HyperX headphones in the past. The Cloud II headphone wire goes in a standard 3.5mm connector. However, it also includes a USB-A cable converter with the audio control module, into which the audio cable is plugged.

Sound Quality of HyperX Cloud II

The HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset has good sound quality. You can generally use it on an iMac to listen to music and watch videos, which will do the job. The 53mm drivers provide crisp, clear low, mid, and high tones. The bass is never overpowering. If you want to use this headset for gaming, the sound quality should be immersive, especially if you activate the 7.1 surround sound, which is specifically intended for gaming. While these headphones lack ANC, they feature a closed cup design that provides passive noise cancellation – once you put them on, they block out much of the outside world.

While most people prefer to use a single USB microphone with an iMac, the HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset does include a detachable microphone. It plugs into the bottom of the left ear cushions, and the arm is flexible, allowing you to bend it around to your liking. However, to get the most out of a detachable microphone, you need to utilize the USB audio control box. The microphone features noise cancellation, AGC capabilities, and even echo cancellation when used in this manner. So, if you want to use these headphones for gaming, they should be more than adequate.

However, if you are not going to use this gaming headset for its intended use, you can use it for just media audio because it’s so comfy. It also sounds amazing, with crystal clear and balanced sound that isn’t overpowering with bass levels. In addition, the white and pink color scheme is kinda savvy, which sticks out in the oversaturated gaming headset industry.

Surround Sound for Gaming

The 7.1 surround sound feature isn’t very enjoyable in how it sounds. The sound stage becomes hollow when you turn it on, and it doesn’t sound good. However, the surround sound function is best suited for gaming, where you need to detect every sound in competitive games, and is not intended for music audio.

Another disadvantage of the surround sound function is that it only works when the device is connected to a computer through a USB wire. This is because the virtual surround sound requires the sound card to function, which occurs only when the USB connection is connected to a computer. So don’t anticipate 7.1 surround sound while using it with your Ps 5, and regrettably, this headset does not function with any Microsoft system.

Competition of HyperX Cloud II

There is no shortage of excellent gaming headphones on the market. If you want a gaming headset with a little extra, such as active noise cancellation, you should look at the Beyerdynamic MMX 150. This one is similarly quite pleasant to use for long periods of time, but it is wireless and features active noise cancellation. It’s also very reasonably priced at $149.

Consider the EKSA E900 Stereo Gaming Headset if you want something more inexpensive. It’s also comfy, with excellent sound for the price. A $40 set of gaming headphones can’t be matched. You also receive a noise-canceling microphone, a drawstring carrying case, a cable splitter, and a comfortable 7-foot cord. It’s excellent for the price. There are two color options: black and green or black and red.

Conclusion

The HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset is ideal for people looking for a wired headset to use with their computers and gaming consoles. It’s lightweight and flexible, so you’ll be comfortable for hours. The sound quality is also reasonably good, with a clear and sharp range and moderate bass. Using the 7.1 surround sound, your music may sound a touch tinny, but it’s perfect for intensive gaming sessions when you need to feel every footstep. It also contains a detachable noise-canceling microphone with AGC and echoes cancellation. While it is suitable for listening to songs, it is primarily for gaming.

The HyperX Cloud II Gaming Headset is not for you if you require something portable and cordless. It is also designed primarily for gaming; therefore, the surround sound capability may not be ideal for music. It’s also not the cheapest gaming headset on the market, but it’s excellent quality and comfy.
