The Transition from OxygenOS to ColorOS: What OnePlus Users Need to Know
The tech world is buzzing as OnePlus, once a dominant force in the global smartphone market, has announced a significant shift in its software strategy. As OnePlus steps out of the global scene, their proprietary OxygenOS is set to be replaced by Oppo’s ColorOS, with the transition commencing alongside the rollout of Android 17.
Understanding the Change
OxygenOS, known for its near-stock Android experience, has been a favorite among tech enthusiasts. However, the brand announced that starting with Android 17, its devices will transition to Oppo’s ColorOS. This move follows OnePlus’s decision to shut down its global operations in July. Despite its exit from the international market, OnePlus has assured existing users that software support will continue through the devices’ promised lifespans, albeit under the ColorOS brand.
While the switch might sound daunting to some, the practical differences between OxygenOS and ColorOS have been minimal for some time. Oppo’s software styling has been gradually integrated into OnePlus devices, making the transition smoother for users.
