Microsoft Edge has come leaps and bounds ever since it made the jump to Chromium, but there are still some things that you can’t do on Microsoft’s browser that you can do on, say, Chrome. For example, if you want to sign into Edge with your Google account, you can’t; you have to make do with using your Microsoft one instead.
However, a recent addition to Microsoft’s roadmap reveals that the company is planning to let people sign in with Google if they want to. And the best part is, it doesn’t sound like people will have to choose between their Google and their Microsoft account when using Edge.

The Redmond tech giant announced the new feature on the Microsoft 365 Roadmap. If this is the first you’ve heard of it, the roadmap is intended to give businesses a heads-up over upcoming Microsoft 365 changes so they can plan accordingly, but it also makes for a handy sneak peek into what we can expect from future updates.
For instance, we’ve just spotted the addition of a new entry titled “Microsoft Edge: Sign in to Edge with a Google account.” You have to scroll down on the website for quite a bit to see it, but it’s there:
Users can now sign in to Microsoft Edge using a Google account in addition to the Microsoft account from the profile menu and Edge sign-in screen. Available for Windows and macOS devices. Admins can control availability to this feature using the NonMicrosoftAccountSignInEnabled policy.
Despite its wording, the feature is still in development and hasn’t been rolled out just yet. However, the company hopes to get the change onto everyone’s PCs next month, so keep an eye out around then for an Edge update.
