Xiaomi 12s ultra: Keeping the hype around Ultra!

Share

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra, the third model in the company’s line of supreme flagships with an added emphasis on imaging, has just been released. In actuality, Xiaomi’s Ultra phones have been favorably welcomed by consumers and tech critics for the past two years. The new 12S model adds cutting-edge, previously unheard-of camera technology—the Leica branding is merely the icing on the cake.

Price and Availability

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is on sale now, but only in China.   Interested parties can research import options or wait to see whether Xiaomi releases this internationally. Xiaomi isn’t planning a worldwide launch, according to what we currently know from our external sources. Researchers hope to be proven wrong in this subject. They believe there will be a later international launch because the previous Xiaomi Ultra gadget had a global release. But this is the company’s first co-branded Leica product.

Camera quality

The rear camera has four lenses: a 50 MP wide-angle lens, a 48 MP periscope telephoto lens, a 48 MP ultrawide lens, and a TOF 3D (depth) sensor lens. The wide-angle front camera includes a 20 MP sensor. Due to its larger sensor than devices like the iPhone 13 Pro Max and even Samsung‘s top-of-the-line S22 Ultra. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra can reliably capture more light information, including frequency response and details. It also contributes to Xiaomi’s camera having a shallower depth of field for that expert bokeh appearance. For instance, see how Xiaomi’s image in the collage below shows a sharper focus dropoff. By separating the 360 cameras from the background wall, wallet, and phone.

Ultra flagship components

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra has premium flagship features on every other level. The 12S Ultra has the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 chip. However, which is substantially more energy-efficient than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 standard chip. It has a 6.7-inch 120Hz OLED display with a customizable refresh rate from 1Hz and 120Hz. The phone’s back features a faux-leather finish that gives it a touch of luxury. And a 24-karat gold ring around the large camera module.

Sound quality

Except for the more-or-less iPhone 13 Pro Max, the 12S Ultra offers more excellent bass pounding in the low points than the 11 Ultra. The Xiaomi performs with appealing vocals and clear treble; it’s a beautiful performance. For a Xiaomi, the 12S Ultra’s speaker setup is very typical. There are two speakers: one bottom-firing and one top-firing. The latter of which also has an earphone output that faces the front. The disadvantage of that final sentence is that the opposing party will be aired in your nearby area while you are on a phone call. The speakers are marked with the Harman/Kardon logo and support Dolby Atmos.

Performance

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is the Qualcomm high-end SoC’s mid-life cycle upgrade and the processor that powers the 12S Ultra. Head over there to take a closer look. We delved into more details about the new chip in a standalone piece testing an engineering gadget a while back.

Overall efficiency has increased due to a manufacturing transfer from Samsung to TSMC (being at 4nm, officially) and slightly greater CPU and GPU clocks.

The 12S Ultra is available in three memory configurations: 8GB/256GB for the base model, 12GB/256GB for the intermediate choice, and 12GB/512GB for the top model.

Display

  • A massive 6.73-inch curved AMOLED display with a dynamic refresh rate of up to 120 Hz.
  • Large stereo speakers
  • The expansive display Xiaomi incorporated into the 12S Ultra is mostly to blame for the phone’s hefty construction.

While not the most significant screen found on an Android phone, the 6.73 inches display is unquestionably at the top of the market. It has a WQHD+ resolution, an excellent maximum brightness of 1500 nits, support for Dolby Vision, and HDR10+, so it is no surprise that it has excellent specifications.

Charging speed

Wireless charging is also supported by the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, both inside and outside. The WPC website’s search for it yields no results. However, a listing for the 12 Pro states the device complies with the Extended Power Profile and can accept up to 10W of power. However, a specialized fast-charging Xiaomi pad claims up to 50W of power and a full charge in 52 minutes, whereas that is the typical outcome with standard peripherals.

Design

While the 12S Ultra draws inspiration from its predecessor, it moves in a different route. That Leica logo within the top left corner gives it away. Leica manufactures cameras and, more significantly, lenses, most of which are circular. It is also a substantial circle, with a diameter of about 53 mm. That amount is strangely close to the Summicron-M 50 f/2’s actual diameter. The golden highlight on the camera ring’s exterior is a nod to Leica’s use of the same hue because of its lens markings.

Battery life

  • Battery life of around two days
  • 67W wired charging is quick.
  • Wireless charging is also an advantage of Xiaomi using the 8+ Gen 1 chip, which has significantly improved power efficiency.

This affects the battery life, which is outstanding and only made possible by the massive 4860mAh cell within the phone.

The 12S Ultra’s battery life is significantly better than the 12 Pro from early this year and not significantly poorer than the phone it “replaces.” However, significant rivals also comfortably outperform it.

Does Xiaomi 12S Ultra have Google?

When you turn on the 12S Ultra, there isn’t even a Google suite. However, if you visit the Xiaomi app store, you can access the Google Play Store and obtain everything from there.

Is Xiaomi 12S Ultra water resistant?

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra might have a dual stereo speaker, multi-function NFC, IP68 waterproofing and dustproof, and infrared. The Snapdragon 895 SoC on 5nm will power the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The GPU has also been improved from Adreno 660 to Adreno 730, and this chip will use ARM’s most recent Cortex v9 architecture CPU.

Conclusion

The Xiaomi 12S Ultra is a fairly typical entry in the “ultra flagship” category except for the bizarre look.

The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chip provides top performance, and when combined with the phone’s enormous size, it also results in long-lasting battery life. The large display is highly detailed and attractive. For many, the camera is the one thing that counts in this situation, and the 12S Ultra undoubtedly provides a distinctive experience.

Further than the camera, the 12S Ultra probably doesn’t offer distinctive enough for most people to make it worth the trouble of importing a device from China, mainly because competent competitors are more commonly available. However, the 12S Ultra is difficult to criticize when handled on its terms if you’re ready to put in a little effort.
