Introducing the Tech.eu Funding Explorer: A New Era for European Tech Insights

Today, I want to share an announcement that means a lot to me, and I wanted to do it with you personally. When I acquired Tech.eu in 2021 from my old friend Robin Wauters and the investors at the time, we set ourselves a simple goal: to keep our finger on the pulse of the European tech ecosystem. We’ve worked diligently towards this goal, striving to connect Europe and its surrounding regions, fostering synergies, and implementing innovative ideas without ever hitting pause.

Tech.eu has long been recognized for its depth in funding news, frequently sharing data through reports and newsletters. However, we identified a gap within the ecosystem, a missing piece that we felt compelled to address. Today, I am ecstatic to introduce the Tech.eu Funding Explorer.

The Funding Explorer leverages the extensive Tech.eu database, built meticulously over the years, and presents it in an interactive format. This tool encompasses 51,352 funding rounds, 38,147 businesses, 30,176 investors, and 8,743 exits, amounting to around 692 billion euros in disclosed funding. Each round is intricately linked to its respective company, investors, sector, and source, enabling users to explore and derive insights from AI-generated reports and analyses. The best part? It’s open to everyone, completely free.

Features of the Tech.eu Funding Explorer

With Funding Explorer, you can:

  • Explore funding rounds across Europe and surrounding regions
  • Filter by country, sector, stage, and year
  • Explore investors and co-investment links between them
  • Follow industry and market trends as they evolve
  • Read AI analysis backed by transparent, cited sources

The co-investment network: who supports companies alongside whom, weighted by shared deals. We didn’t create this just for people who click through to a website. There’s a free public API, so you can run funding rounds, with investors in each round, and output as clean, source-cited JSON, and search for any company by their ID, right in your own tools and models. We publish an llms.txt file and structured data so that the AI response engines that people increasingly rely on can find and cite us correctly. And if you run your own site or newsletter, you can integrate a live overview of European funding or a company card. Data is designed to travel.

Exits and M&A – 8,743 exits and €1.1 trillion in disclosed value, broken down by type, year, transaction size and country, for both the divested company and its acquirer.

A Commitment to Transparency and User Empowerment

I’m proud of several aspects of this project. Every number is traceable to its source, with visible notes on our confidence levels, allowing you to verify our work. Currency conversion to euros at the ECB rate ensures fair comparisons across countries and years. AI analyses, whether they’re live updates, industry and country readings, or full market reports, are based solely on verified database entries, each carrying an AI label. Our signals, like the Heat 50 rankings, are rooted in base rates and are transparently presented as estimates rather than predictions.

The signals are explainable and anchored in base rates, and we make it clear that they are estimates, not predictions. And yes, you read all that correctly. It is totally free so you can start using it now.

Join Us in Shaping the Future

The best products are shaped by the people who use them. I’m going to ask you one thing in return. We launched it in beta and opened it up to everyone because I believe the best products are shaped by the people who use them. We’ll continue to work on it, expanding the dataset and refining the experiment, and there’s a feedback area right in the app. Please use it. Tell us what features you’d like to see and what fixes you think you need. We built the Tech.eu Funding Explorer for the European tech ecosystem, that is, we built it for you, so let us enrich and grow it together.

Quarterly dynamics, concentration of transactions and distribution between countries and sectors in overall European financing: the last full quarter raised 20 billion euros across 858 transactions, up 16.5% compared to the previous one.

To my investor friends in particular: if there’s a feature you’ve always wished existed, tell us and we’ll add it. It may even be something you currently pay for elsewhere. It’s not a problem. We won’t ask you for money. We’ll build it just to help you.

Founders, you can see who is raising, who is backing them and how your own stage, sector and round size compares, and you can find the investors who are truly active in your space. For operators, corporate and strategic teams, it is a quick way to track sectors, geographies, acquirers and the actual destination of capital. And for researchers and fellow journalists, every number is sourced and linked, our snapshots are embeddable and the methodology is there to help you when you need to rely on a number.

Every company connects with its roadshows, its investors and the sources behind each number. I won’t do that anymore. The Tech.eu Funding Explorer is now yours and is accessible to everyone. Thank you all for being with us. Find out about it on financing.tech.eu.
