Samsung’s next foldables leak in a very interesting size comparison

Samsung’s Next Generation of Foldables: A Sneak Peek

Samsung’s upcoming line of foldable products may have just leaked sooner than expected. A new image appears to show the screen protectors of the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra side by side.

While screen protector leaks aren’t usually the most exciting reveal, this one offers a first look at how Samsung could reshape its foldable lineup.

Design Evolution: Wider and Shorter

Most notably, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 appears wider and slightly shorter than previous models. Meanwhile, the Fold 8 Ultra looks set to sit in a class of its own. If the leak is accurate, it suggests Samsung is putting more distance between its standard Fold and Ultra models. The company can no longer treat the Ultra as just a spec change. This could help the company be more competitive. After all, competitors such as Apple, Xiaomi, and Vivo continue to enter the foldable device market.

The image was shared by popular tipster Ice Universe and appears to show notable differences between the two Fold devices. The standard Fold 8 looks wider than before. This could make the outer screen appear more like a traditional smartphone screen. It may also look less like the narrow panels found on previous Galaxy Fold devices.

Beyond the redesigned shape, previous leaks have pointed to several improvements for the Fold 8. These include a less noticeable display crease, a 4,800 mAh battery, and a weight of around 201g.

The Galaxy Z Flip 8: Subtle Yet Significant Changes

The Galaxy Z Flip 8, meanwhile, is expected to be a more modest update. Rumors suggest that Samsung has changed the hinge design to make the foldable case slightly thinner when closed. Additionally, the company is also cutting some weight. The biggest changes might happen under the hood. Reports point to Samsung’s Exynos 2600 chip in Europe and South Korea. In other markets, there may be a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor for Galaxy.

Awaiting the Official Unveiling

Samsung plans to officially unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra at its upcoming Unpacked event on July 22. The company will unveil them alongside the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
