Samsung has finally opened pre-orders for the high-end Galaxy XR headset in the UK ahead of its release on July 8, following its launch in the US in October 2025.
This launch marks a significant milestone for Samsung as it ventures into the mixed reality hardware space. Developed in collaboration with tech giants Google and Qualcomm, the Galaxy XR is poised to deliver a seamless extended reality experience. Notably, it is the first device to ship in the UK with Android XR, Google’s cutting-edge platform for extended reality, providing tight integration with popular Google services and compatibility with existing Android apps.

Innovative Features and Advanced Hardware
The “Circle to Search” feature offers a novel way to interact with the physical world. Users can draw a circle in the air around any object in pass-through mode to trigger an instant search result without removing the headset. Gemini’s integration extends beyond voice support, enabling users to ask questions about their surroundings or seek AI-driven assistance when exploring places in Google Maps.
The Galaxy XR is equipped with two 4K Micro-OLED displays, each about the size of a postage stamp, according to Samsung. The headset runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR2 Plus Gen 2 platform, which delivers approximately 20% faster CPU performance and 15% stronger GPU performance than the standard XR2 Gen 2 chip. Additionally, Samsung has outfitted the headset with 16GB of memory and 256GB of storage, supporting 4K per eye at up to 90fps.
For mixed reality applications, the headset features two outward-facing cameras for full HD color passthrough, six hand-tracking cameras, and four eye-tracking cameras, allowing for controller-free interaction in many scenarios.
Availability and Pricing
The Samsung Galaxy XR is available for pre-order now on the Samsung website. General sales will commence on July 8th. The headset will also be available in select Samsung stores in London and Manchester, as well as the KX Store.
Pricing for the headset starts at £1,699. Optional XR controllers are priced at £249, the travel case at £249, and the smart keyboard at £90.
