Share

With YouTube Studio, you get tools to organize and modify your content for a better experience for the viewers. However, if you don’t know anything about it, here is a review on YouTube Studio Desktop for you.

YouTube Studio

YouTube Studio is a free platform that offers content creators a wide range of tools to manage their YouTube channels. It is designed to help creators analyze and optimize their content, engage with their audience, and grow their channels. The best part is that it can monitor performance. Creators can track their channel’s performance and audience engagement. They can use metrics like views, watch time, and subscriber growth. This allows them to gain insights into what’s working and what’s not so that they can optimize their content accordingly. It has a built-in video editor that will enable creators to edit and manage their videos directly within the platform. They can trim videos, add music, and create captions, among other things.

Additionally, creators can optimize their content for search and discovery. They can add relevant tags and descriptions and use features like end screens and cards. Another essential feature is the ability to interact with the audience. Creators can respond to comments, moderate conversations, and engage with viewers to build community and foster loyalty. This helps to build a strong fanbase and create a sense of community around their channel. YouTube Studio also includes various tools to help creators monetize their content. YouTube Studio is accessible through a web browser and has a mobile app for on-the-go content management. It’s available to all YouTube creators, whether just starting or having a large, established channel.

How to access YouTube Studio?

To access YouTube Studio on a computer, you can go directly to studio.youtube.com. Or you can click on your channel icon in the top right corner of the YouTube page and select “YouTube Studio” from the drop-down menu. Once you’re in YouTube Studio, you’ll see the different user interface sections (UI) in the left sidebar. The “Content” section will show you all of your videos, along with the number of views, comments, likes, and dislikes. You can also check for any limitations placed on your videos. This may be the result of copyright violations or complaints.

To manage individual videos, you can hover your mouse over any video. This way, you can update its details, view analytics and comments, watch it, copy its URL, promote it, download it, or delete it. You can download the free YouTube Studio app for iOS or Android to access YouTube Studio on a mobile device. Once you’ve installed the app, log in to your YouTube account and navigate to the “Dashboard” tab. There, you can access your channel’s analytics and other essential information. You can also use the app to manage your videos, respond to comments, and engage with your audience on the go.

Editing

If you’ve already published a video on YouTube, you can use YouTube Studio’s built-in editor to make changes without re-uploading the video. This way, you won’t lose any views, comments, or engagement in that video. However, the editor is less robust than a dedicated video editing program. It can help make quick cuts or add background music. Go to your “Content” tab in YouTube Studio to access the editor. There, you can select the video you want to edit. You won’t see the editor options if the video is still in draft mode.

Once in the editor, you can use the trimming tool to cut out specific video sections. You can also add background music from YouTube’s audio library. The editor also has a blur tool that allows you to blur out particular areas of your video you don’t want to be visible. Although, you can only perform one edit at a time. You’ll need to wait for YouTube to process the changes before you can make any additional edits. This can take several hours, depending on the length of the video and the type of edits. You can also add cards or an end screen to your video to link to other videos, channels, or playlists. And if you don’t like how your changes turned out, you can always return to the original video and make additional edits.

The YouTube Studio editor also lets you add text overlays to your videos. You also get a variety of filters and effects that you can apply to your video to change its appearance. There is an option to add slow motion or time-lapse effects to your video or adjust the speed of specific sections.

YouTube’s Blur Tool

  • Go to the YouTube Studio by clicking your profile symbol in the top right corner of YouTube.
  • Click on Videos on the left navigation menu. This will display all of the content that has been uploaded to your channel.
  • To enter the video you wish to modify, hover your mouse pointer over it and then click the pencil icon.
  • The page labeled Video details will appear after that. In the left navigation menu, choose Editor.
  • You’ll see a video timeline when the following page loads. Click the Blur Parts of Your Video link located just beneath this editor.
  • There will be two menu options: one for custom blurring and one for creating a facial blur.

Blur Objects in a YouTube Video

You can use YouTube’s customized blur tool to blur something other than a face. With this tool, you can overlay circular or rectangular blurs over various video elements. You must choose Track Object in the Blur Behavior section on the video editor page. Choose Fix blur position to maintain the object’s position if you don’t need to blur a moving object. You can also resize or adjust the status of your blur form. Moreover, you can figure out when there is a blur in your video. Drag the marker to any location on the video timeline to do this.

Blur Faces in a YouTube Video

Blurring faces in a YouTube video can be quickly done using the YouTube editor. The editor first identifies all the faces in the video and then allows you to select which ones to blur. You can also move the blur or track it to a moving face or a specific timestamp. However, the tracking feature may not look perfect during editing, but it improves once the video has been processed. However, the edits may take some time to take effect, and viewers may be able to see the original, unblurred video in the meantime. Sometimes, the blur tool may fail to blur faces completely, and the editor may display an error message when adjusting blur timestamps. In such cases, following a few steps may help identify the issue.

Although many video editors use third-party software to blur faces, YouTube’s free tool does an excellent job of tracking and obscuring faces and other objects. It’s also worth mentioning that blurring faces is just one way to protect privacy in a video. Although, blurring faces does not guarantee anonymity or protection from potential privacy violations. Additionally, the blur tool may behave unexpectedly or require trial and error to get the desired result. You can also use techniques such as filming at a distance or from angles that obscure faces. Ultimately, the decision to blur faces or take other privacy protection measures should be based on considering the potential impact on the individuals appearing in the video.

Chapters

YouTube has recently introduced a feature called Chapter Markers. It is designed to increase engagement between creators and their audiences. This feature is different from the video Editor tools, which can take hours to take effect. Adding Chapter Markers to your video is a simple process. This involves adding text to the Description section of your video. Each line of text should include a timecode in minutes and seconds. If the first chapter is marked with the “0:00” time stamp, YouTube will recognize it as a time marker.

When you play your video again, the progress bar at the bottom will be divided into sections, each with your name assigned to the corresponding chapter. Additionally, viewers can click on the timecodes in the Description to jump directly to specific areas of the video. If you need to adjust a chapter marker’s timing, you can move it to the closest second, and the change will take effect immediately. The Chapter Markers feature is a great way to make your videos more engaging and interactive. By breaking your video down into smaller sections, you can make it easier for viewers to find the parts they’re interested in. This can provide a more organized viewing experience. Use Chapter Markers to highlight key points, provide additional context, or include calls to action.

Analytics

Although viewing the analytics for each video is possible, you can also view them for your entire channel in the Analytics part of the Sidebar. Breaking down the specifics over some time that you pick, you can quickly determine which videos are trending and which are lagging. If your channel is monetized, you may use this tool to see your reach, what interests your audience, where they come from, and how much money you’ve made per video and month.

Comments

The comments section of YouTube Studio has the potential for more functionality than it currently offers. While it allows you to view new messages and easily display comments you haven’t responded to, it does not notify you of new comments on a thread that has already been replied to. To see threaded comments and reply to them, you need to disable the filter that says “I haven’t responded.” However, if your channel receives many comments, keeping track of linked conversations can be challenging. To access the comments section in YouTube Studio, open the YouTube Studio application and select Comments from the option at the bottom. By default, you will see published comments. Tap the filter bar to view comments with specific text or those you haven’t replied to.

You can also select View Reply or View All Replies to see longer lists of comments on a video. In addition, you can use the More option to delete a comment, report spam, or hide a member from the channel. If there are any pending comments, you can choose to display them by selecting Hold For Review under Published Comments. YouTube Studio also has several advanced features to help you manage and grow your channel. One such feature is the ability to manage your YouTube community. You can access this feature by clicking on the “Community” tab in the left-hand sidebar of YouTube Studio.

Under the “Comments” section, you can filter comments by specific criteria. This can include those you haven’t replied to, those held for review, or those likely to be spam. You can also highlight comments or pin them to the top of the comment section to draw attention.

Subtitles and alternatives

The automatic transcription algorithms YouTube uses to generate video subtitles are imperfect. Therefore, it’s essential to review and edit the automatically generated subtitles for accuracy and provide subtitles in other languages as necessary. You can use the Subtitles section in your YouTube Studio to keep track of these automated subtitles and add your subtitles in additional languages. You can also add subtitles while editing your video. This feature is constantly being improved and updated. So, some processes may change over time. Adding subtitles or closed captions to your videos can significantly enhance their accessibility and reach a wider audience. This includes those who are deaf or hard of hearing, those who speak different languages, and those who prefer to watch videos with subtitles.

Apart from subtitles, you can also use the Playlist and Customization sections to personalize your channel. You can add a trailer, choose what appears on your homepage, and customize your playlists to make your channel more appealing to viewers. Most of these tasks can be executed directly from your channel’s homepage as long as you are signed in to your YouTube account. You can create a new playlist by accessing one of your videos and clicking the “Save” button. It is always good to offer multiple options for performing the same task to cater to different users’ preferences. You can customize your channel’s appearance by choosing a channel icon, banner image, and color scheme. By taking advantage of these features, you can make your channel stand out and attract more viewers.

Adding subtitles or closed captions to your videos is essential to making your content more inclusive and accessible to a broader audience. By adding subtitles, you can improve the accessibility of your videos for people who are deaf or hard of hearing and those who prefer to watch videos with subtitles. Closed captions also make it easier for people who speak different languages to understand your content. Moreover, adding subtitles can help you monetize your videos on YouTube. YouTube’s monetization policies require videos to have accurate and appropriate metadata. This includes subtitles or closed captions. Adding subtitles to your videos can help you earn money from your content by allowing ads to be served alongside your videos.

Additionally, you can protect your videos from copyright infringement claims by providing subtitles. YouTube’s Content ID system can detect copyrighted material within videos. This includes music and other audio. This may restrict or remove videos that include copyrighted content. By adding accurate subtitles, you can demonstrate that you have added value to the original content and avoid any copyright issues that may arise.

The Copyright Match Tool can automatically find videos on YouTube that are similar to or may be similar to other videos. When a match is found, you may review it in YouTube Studio and select your next course of action. Any YouTube user who has submitted a legitimate copyright takedown request is entitled to use the Copyright Match Tool. The Copyright Match Tool will begin searching YouTube uploads for potential matches to the videos you submitted in your takedown request.

The Copyright Match Tool will search for full re-uploads of your films on other YouTube channels for partners in the YouTube Partner Program (YPP) and any channel that has filled out this form and indicated a need for an advanced rights management tool. You must publish the video to YouTube first because the tool checks any subsequent uploads.

Review and take action on matches.

Before you look through your matches, remember that just because YouTube found a matching video doesn’t necessarily mean it violates your copyright. You must carefully review each matched video to determine whether fair use, fair dealing, or another copyright exception applies. To examine matches of your videos and take appropriate action:

  • Open YouTube Studio and log in.
  • Go to the left menu and choose Copyright.
  • On the Matches tab, click.
  • You can choose a filter to search videos based on their total number of views (Total views) or channels based on their subscriber count.
  • You can check the box next to the video you want to respond to.
  • Select an action to perform:
  • ARCHIVE: The match is taken off of your Matches tab. The corresponding video itself is neither removed nor changed. In your Archive tab, you can find archived matches.
  • REQUEST REMOVAL: The takedown web form will pop up, allowing you to file a takedown request for the relevant video. After submitting, you can keep track of your takedowns under the Removal Requests tab.
  • CONTACT CHANNEL: You may send a pre-written email to the person who uploaded the corresponding video. Your Messages tab is where you can find old emails you’ve sent.

Conclusion

You have access to a variety of well-organized tools through YouTube Studio, many of which can be quite helpful. You’ll discover that it’s a never-ending work in progress, with features and menus continually altering over time. Even though it requires a lot of fixing, you can use YouTube Studio when you need to make edits to an already uploaded video. Moreover, it takes an absurdly long time for a video to finish being edited when you cut it or blur a piece of it. However, there are also some fantastic new improvements. This includes chapter markers, you can easily create time stamps, and allow viewers to directly go to their favorite part of the video. The Copyright Match tool is also a great addition. You can review the videos that show match yours and take necessary action against them.
