Through a thoughtful analysis of your usage patterns, it goes a step further by offering valuable insights and suggestions on how to save energy, ultimately translating to savings on your energy bills! Plus, it can even spot appliances that use up a lot of energy so you can fix them up.

Individual circuit monitoring

Ever wonder how much energy each gadget or appliance in your home uses? The Emporia Vue has this cool feature that lets you track the energy usage of up to 16 circuits.

To get started, you’ll need these extra 50A sensor bundles. They’re like little clips you attach to each circuit in your electrical panel. Once they’re in place, you can see exactly how much energy each circuit consumes.

This feature is super handy. It helps you spot which appliances use a lot of energy so you can make smart choices to save power and cut down those bills.

Smart alerts

Imagine having a buddy who warns you before things go out of control at home. That’s exactly what the Emporia Vue Gen 2 does with its super cool ‘Smart Alerts’ feature. This amazing feature helps you save money and catch any electrical problems in your home.

With these alerts, you get to set up your warnings. It sends you a message when you’re using more electricity than usual or if an appliance goes a bit power-hungry. For example, your favorite TV or fridge uses more power than it should. Moreover, if there’s a sudden power cut, you’ll know right away.

What if you forgot to unplug the gadget or left the light on in a hurry? The Vue will notify you that you use way more energy than usual. This way, you’ll get to know that you left something running behind. Furthermore, you can choose when these alerts will pop up!

Solar panel monitoring

The Vue Gen2 impressively monitors the output of your solar panels. It goes beyond just measuring their immediate performance. It delves into comprehending their efficiency across time frames. This understanding helps calculate their prolonged influence on your household’s energy consumption and cost savings.

This setup gives you a transparent overview of your solar panels’ effectiveness. It allows effortless monitoring of their energy generation, your grid utilization, and even the surplus energy you feed back into the grid. Additionally, it maintains a detailed record showcasing the evolution of your solar power over time.

Moreover, the Emporia Vue efficiently tracks your net metering operations. It operates as an intelligent billing system enabling the sale of excess solar energy to the grid. This device meticulously records every unit of energy sold, simplifying the monitoring of your contributions to the grid.

Installation and Setup Process

Let’s discuss the most important aspect, “How to install Emporia Vue.” Correct installation is crucial for the Emporia Vue Energy Monitor to function effectively and provide accurate energy monitoring. The installation process is not complicated, though. Emporia did a good job of keeping things minimal and clean-looking. However, a licensed electrician is needed for the installation process. Let’s have a detailed breakdown of its setup process:

Steps 1 to 6

Step-1 Initial Setup:

Firstly, download and install the Emporia Energy app on your smartphone and check the Wi-Fi signal near your electric panel to ensure a stable connection. Then, create an app account to begin the setup process.

Step-2 Safety Precautions:

Turn off the main breaker in your electric panel, as safety is paramount. Then after, remove the screws holding the cover of the panel to access the circuits within.

Step-3 Positioning the Monitor:

Locate an appropriate position within your electrical panel for mounting the Vue energy monitor.

Step-4 Attaching the Antenna:

Connect the antenna assembly cable to the designated jack on top of the energy monitor. Secure the cable sleeve over the connected area for proper insulation.

Step-5 Connecting Current Transformers:

Identify the main service cables and attach the 200A current transformers by clamping them securely around these cables. Ensure the correct positioning by aligning the “K→L” imprint on the transformers towards the breakers. Then, insert the audio jacks of the transformers into the corresponding ports on the energy monitor.

Step-6 Insulating Unused Ports:

Identify the 3.5mm 200A CT port on the top of the Vue. If there are any empty 3.5mm 200A CT ports on the monitor, securely insert the provided insulation plugs into these ports to prevent any unwanted contact. If not, proceed further.

Steps 7 to 12

Step-7 Wiring the Harness

Properly connect the power supply wiring harness to the bottom of the energy monitor. This harness facilitates single-phase power and three-phase voltage sensing, with specific wire connections: White for Neutral, Black for power and voltage sensing, and Blue/Red for voltage sensing only.

Step-8 Connecting the breaker:

The wire harness will be connected differently based on the availability of empty 15A breakers and the number of 200A CTs installed in Step 5. This will ensure the proper functioning of the Emporia Vue Energy Monitor.

Step-9 Connecting the 50A current transformers:

If your Vue includes 50A CTs, open the clasps and clamp them around the hot leg of the desired breakers you want to monitor. It is important to ensure proper positioning by pointing the “K→L” imprint away from the breakers. After that, insert the attached audio jacks into the 2.5mm audio jack ports on the sides of the energy monitor.

Step-10 Insulating empty 2.5mm 50A Ports

Similar to the previous step, if there are any empty 2.5mm 50A CT ports, securely insert the provided insulation plugs to ensure these ports are fully insulated.

Step-11 Finalizing Installation

Reattach and secure the cover of the electrical panel using the screws removed earlier. Turn on all breakers that were previously turned off during the installation process.

Step-12 Completing Setup:

Within the app, confirm the completion of the Vue installation and connect Bluetooth from your phone to the system, then connect it to your Wi-Fi router by providing your Wi-Fi network name and password.

Once the setup is done, you’ll access energy usage data via the Emporia Energy app. However, for more detailed information, visit the Emporia’s official guide!
