The latest version of Google Chrome, version 150, has begun its global rollout today, introducing a series of interface refinements aimed at enhancing user experience. Among these changes is the addition of a dedicated back button, a long-awaited feature for Android users, which joins other subtle interface tweaks designed to streamline browsing.
Enhancing Navigation with a Back Button
Previously, the Android version of Chrome’s three-dot menu included only a forward button in its top row. With version 150, a back button has been added, providing an alternative to the system back gesture or navigation button. This feature has been available on Chrome for iOS for some time, aligning the Android experience with its iOS counterpart. For desktop users, the Forward button can be removed by navigating to Customize Chrome from the New Tab Page > Toolbar > Navigation.

In addition to the navigation enhancements, this update sees the removal of the info button, replaced by a new “Site controls” item within the overflow list. This follows the addition of the “Show Reading mode” in February, as Chrome continues to evolve its feature set.
