Google Wallet Introduces Enhanced Order Tracking for Android Users
Google Wallet, a versatile tool for Android users, has now expanded its functionality in the United States by introducing a new order tracking experience powered by Gmail. This update aims to streamline the shopping experience by integrating detailed transaction information directly into Google Wallet.
Seamless Integration with Gmail
Beyond just storing passes, Google Wallet’s latest update allows users to view comprehensive details of their online purchases. This includes detailed receipts, tracking numbers, and shipping statuses, all seamlessly integrated through Gmail. This new feature is a significant step forward in providing users with a centralized location for managing their transactions.
Upon accessing the Google Wallet homepage, users will notice a card beneath the payment carousel whenever there’s an upcoming delivery. Clicking on this card opens a fullscreen page that offers an in-depth look at the transaction, covering everything from the purchase price to a list of items and tracking details.
Organized Transaction Management
Users can tap the “View more” button on the main screen to access a list of all their orders under the Transactions section. This list can be filtered to show either “Google Pay” transactions or “Orders.” The feature supports a vast array of top US merchants, including Amazon and Google Play in-app purchases, although smaller merchants might not be represented in the Wallet app.
To take advantage of order tracking in Google Wallet, users should ensure that the relevant settings are enabled. Specifically, navigate to Gmail > Settings > [email account] > Google Workspace smart features > “Smart features in other Google products.”
Activating Order Tracking
Once these settings are in place, users can select a payment card to re-authenticate via their Google Account, thereby enabling order tracking functionality in the app. This feature also supports synchronization with Wear OS, ensuring users can stay updated on the go.
Google has confirmed to 9to5Google that this Wallet order tracking feature is now available to all users in the United States.
