Thriveworks, a leading hybrid mental health provider, is making significant strides in healthcare integration with the launch of a new dashboard designed to give referring providers real-time visibility into their patients’ mental health progress. Real-Time Patient Progress Tracking
For general practitioners (GPs) and specialists who refer patients to Thriveworks, the new dashboard provides critical insights into the patient’s journey. Healthcare providers can now log in to view whether their patients have successfully connected to care, track clinical progress, and monitor any medications prescribed by Thriveworks physicians. This visibility is crucial for ensuring that patients receive consistent and informed care.
Although the dashboard does not integrate directly with electronic health records (EHRs), Thriveworks ensures that essential data—such as outcomes, medications, and diagnoses—are shared with EHRs. Future enhancements to the provider dashboard will include messaging capabilities with Thriveworks therapists, and practice administrators will be able to access population health insights.
Enhancing Integrated Care
Dr. Dan Frogel, CEO of Thriveworks, emphasizes the importance of integrated care. In an exclusive interview with Fierce Healthcare, he stated, “If we want to offer a service or product that is truly intended for integrated care… [referring physicians] must have visibility, communication and collaboration.” Dr. Frogel’s extensive experience as an emergency room physician underscores the need for timely mental health interventions, which can lead to better clinical outcomes and reduce hospital readmissions and emergency room visits.
Customized Care Pathways
Recognizing the need for personalized mental health care, Thriveworks is developing specialized care pathways tailored to specific medical conditions. In the coming weeks, dedicated pathways for endocrinology and gastroenterology will be launched, with plans to introduce five more, including nephrology, by the end of 2026. According to Dr. Frogel, “In the mental health field, there is quite a bit of specificity to customize care for patients with these conditions.”
Collaborations with Health Systems
Thriveworks collaborates with various health systems, including Adventist Health, Tufts Medicine, MUSC Health, Ardent, and Providence. These partnerships aim to enhance access to mental health treatment and leverage Thriveworks’ innovative specialized care pathways. The company’s 340 physical locations across the U.S. serve as crucial points of contact for many patients.
The integration with health system partners’ EHRs underscores Thriveworks’ commitment to aligning with healthcare providers’ workflows. Dr. Frogel notes, “The real value of the integration we are doing is that it allows the referring physician to refer a patient into mental health… in the same way they would within their system.”
Comprehensive Patient Assessments
Thriveworks physicians regularly assess patients for depression and anxiety, utilizing patient outcome questionnaires every two weeks for those with higher acuity, and monthly as conditions stabilize. Other assessments, such as those for substance use disorder, are administered less frequently.
Streamlined Appointment Scheduling
In a bid to enhance accessibility, Thriveworks launched the ThriveConnect platform last year. This tool enables providers to match and schedule patients with a Thriveworks doctor in real-time, streamlining the appointment process, and ensuring patients receive timely referrals.
