Smart home gadgets are all the latest craze and starting to see more and more robots in people’s homes. Smart home companion robots are knocking on your door, offering to make your life simpler. Enabot’s new EBO Air is one such robot.
EBO Air, which resembles a ball, is intended to give comfort, protection, and security to the entire family. And Enabot refers to everyone in the family, including pets. EBO Air may be the smartest toy your pet has, which explains the appearance of the tennis ball’s future kid.
EBO Air uses powerful Time of Flight technology to identify all sorts of problems ahead and prevent destroying your property. When necessary, the robot may also come to a complete stop, so avoid accidents and falls. EBO Air’s tumbler construction implies that, like BB-8, will be able to quickly get back up if it falls. The strong powered wheels offer a smooth ride around your home, including on rugs and carpets.
What we will see here?
What does EBO Air actually do?
EBO Air provides a few features to help safeguard your property. As it roams the hallways, the smart robot uses face recognition and AI tracking to alert you to any questionable activity. The 1080p HD camera uploads footage to the app and SD card, allowing you to monitor your house. With built-in infrared night vision, EBO Air isn’t afraid of the dark either.
The camera may also be used for video calls. EBO Air can handle two-way Wi-Fi communication with the help of supporting speakers and a microphone. However, without a screen, only the caller will be able to watch the video feed from the app; this feature does not function both ways.
EBO Air, as previously said, will get along well with your pets. The same AI technology onboard can assist recognise your pets and give them a little nudge during the day. In addition to being able to communicate with them via the phone feature, the robot has certain interactive play options. This may be a good way to entertain the kids for the more creative parents out there.
EBO Air is an excellent smart home robot for getting started with technology. If you wish to buy one of the techno-friends, you may do so through Enabot or
Price and availability
The Ebo Air is one of four Ebo models, two of which may be purchased through Enabot: the Ebo Air and the Ebo SE.
The Ebo Air is available for £179.99 through Enabot or Robert Dyas in the UK. If you live in the United States, you can acquire it for $229 at Enabot or
The Ebo SE lacks the electric quiet motor and only has 16GB of memory, whereas the Air has 32GB. It is, however, somewhat less expensive, at £119/ $119.
The Ebo App
You must use the app in order to interact with Ebo. This required creating an account and verifying the email address . The Ebo app, as one would expect from a gadget that works as a remote communication device in your house, requires every permission your phone has to give in order to function properly: microphone, location, network, photographs, camera, and so on. If any of this worries you, you should think twice about buying a remote control robot with a camera in the future.
The app is simple to use in that you can easily examine the video stream from the homepage or click through for a larger view and remote controls. The remaining icons represent different automatic functions that you may enable. The interface, on the other hand, is poorly translated to English and might benefit greatly from the review of a native speaker. For example, if the security roams mode is set to animal identification, you may receive a warning stating that an “infected pet was discovered during the cruise.” Unfortunately, Ebo is unable to identify details such as flea infestations.
There are also other functions that are completely unnecessary, such as Memo. It’s exactly what it sounds like: a spot for you to write notes or keep a diary, because your phone doesn’t have one. This kind of clutter detracts from everything excellent about Ebo.
Security camera
Ebo air has a 1080p camera with infrared capabilities. You may use it in a fixed spot, to remotely monitor your house while Ebo sits at its dock, or to roam.
When roaming, it can record its full beat or snap a photo if it sees a human or pet, in which case it will notify you. You may even drive it around your house using the app’s controls. This provides it with a significant benefit over a permanent security camera in that you can take it inside the kitchen to check.
However, there is a drawback: if it does not return to its dock for whatever reason, its charge will run out and it will be worthless to you. As a result, it can only be used as a secondary security device.
Overall, the security function isn’t especially useful. It won’t replace any current cameras you have, and it’s far more expensive than purchasing a new specialized security camera.
Design and appearance of EBO Air
Ebo Air is circular, with a heart-shaped light in place of an eye and an elegant plastic quiff for extra flair. It’s roughly the size of a cricket ball and weighs 330g, which is about the weight of an empty cup.
It runs almost softly on a pair of caterpillar treads, due to its brushless motor.
It has a little charging port, and one of its most amazing characteristics at first is its capacity to return and reverse perfectly back into its slot. However, after a while (spoiler alert), it began to have difficulty finding its way home.
The front of the Air contains a 1080p camera with night vision. It also has a microphone and speaker, allowing Ebo to express itself with a joyful shout of “Ebo!” and the occasional cheery yip in addition to two-way communication through Wi-Fi.
Ebo Air is ready to play when you download the free Ebo app for Apple and Android and charge it. However, it may take some time to discover just what it is capable of.
There are several things it excels at. It can travel in any direction, thus it rarely becomes stuck. It can get back up if knocked down and is pretty adept at avoiding obstacles, however, it cannot cross a thick floor.
Its camera captures great footage in both daytime and low light and stores photographs and video on an inbuilt 32GB SD card, so there’s no need for a subscription and no security concerns about storing personal photos in the cloud.
Ebo recommends using such functions in one of two ways: as a pet sitter or a home security camera.
Conclusion
The Ebo Air is a visually attractive camera on wheels in search of a purpose. If you’re considering getting one – and it’s strangely tempting – you should really think about what you’re going to use it for.
If you’re frequently away from home and want a fun method to check in, you might find it beneficial to have on hand. But it put your home security in its hands. You should also consider that your pet may not enjoy it.
Finally, the Ebo Air’s pricing makes it difficult to recommend, especially when combined with issues returning to its dock to recharge. It’s a cute little device. If you decide to acquire one, keep in mind that you’re paying for its personality rather than its function.
